Seems the more hypesters have seen the movie, the more people reckon the cliched and safe approach for what it is, but they are anyway enjoying themselves a lot more than I did: good for them.

Remember: Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex… It takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.

I trust James Wan to deliver but I totally understand your concerns. True, this is not enough to have a functioning cinematic universe however it's a massive leap in the right direction. Only time will tell at this point and I think after Infinty War is all said and done, Marvel has some real challenges ahead to make their new lineup of heroes connect with audiences as much as Iron Man , Captain America and Thor.

They still have a long way to go. Even though WW is great, it doesn't undo the past three films. They're still three and one which still isn't good. Marvel has a challenge there and if Feige will stay on or not. If he steps down, then get worried. It could be then DC will finally pick up the slack, but by then, I don't know if superhero films will be as big as they are now. This is such uncharted territory it's hard to say.

It's all unclear. And then we have Sony doing whatever the hell they're doing with the Spiderman franchise and Fox still pumping out X-men films I don't care about now that Jackman is done with Wolverine. The next decade will be interesting.

I predict that, in ten years:

1) Batman will still comfortably be the most popular superhero;
2) Wonder Woman will survive recasting, but only just; and
3) Superman will be perhaps the fourth most popular member of the League.

Who'll be #3?

I just got back and really liked it. I was wavering between 8 and 9, but ultimately went with 9. I'd say about 8.6.

What I liked:

The director and script were great. Chris was really, really good. The relationships between the characters came off as genuine. REALLY good villain. Loved the beginning and ending (They overshadowed the middle of the movie which still was pretty good). There were no nondescript personalities nor were there any over the top schizo performances (yes, I'm referring Supes and Lex from BvS) and I credit the director for that.

What could have been better:

Gal had a script that fit her well. That being said, I don't think she's a particularly accomplished actor at this point, but dear god is she ever charismatic and gorgeous. She has a very down to earth, sensitive, and honest feeling about her; as well as intelligence. I was distracted by her acting in some of the scenes, but, by and large, I'd say she did a very solid job.

Overall, I'd say it approaches the best and fits comfortably in with the better CBMs.

After seeing it, I'd have to say I enjoyed it. I'd give it a like a 7.2 or something.

It was certainly the most heartfelt of the DC movies so far, and that felt like a welcome change. More than other DC movies, WW seems to be less ambitious, more formulaic, and yet a lot more pleasing. Unlike the rest, this film doesn't seem to be embarrassed of it's own premise. In fact, the way in which Wonder Woman drives the film could be seen as a critique of the other DC films. Whereas MoS, BvS, and Suicide Squad get lost in the questions about what it means to be a hero, Wonder Women just leaps in and shows us. When other characters dry to add complexity to it, she says, "No - this is what's right, this is what we're doing." And that is very refreshing actually. Moreso than I expected.
For me, I really enjoyed the empowering feminist aspects of the film - it was motivating, even to me as a dude. I thought the film made me feel happy, inspired, entertained, and even a little moved at times.
I don't think it's the best movie ever made. There were some parts that came off as hammy and that took me out of the movie. It also felt outside the other DC films to me. The last 20 minutes were more or less quite disappointing IMO. The super hero origin film is so well understood at this point, and this film pretty much followed the script. I wish that the films were made in chronological order - this movie would have added valuable context that could have helped BvS.

I completely agree with that statement, see Fury Road. I just don't think it was the case with WW.

10/10

Seriously, forget being a superhero nerd for a second. Consider just as a general audience member. Could not ask for anything else I felt to make this a fun ride. There was action, humor, emotional ride, and great leads.

"It's very much a copy and paste of Captain America: TFA, Thor, and a little bit of Superman The Movie"

Sweet, those are good movies...

9/10

I loved this movie! It was well paced, the acting was spot on and the action was quite enticing! I would totally reccomend watching this movie multiple times! Its just that good! Patty Jenkins and crew truly made a remarkable film!

I loved the scenes on Themyscira and the Amazons plus learning about their history, the gods and mankinds origin in the DCEU was a sight to behold! I want to learn more about the amazons andd the gods! I doubt they are all dead, I mean Hades, Aphrodite, Hermes, and Poseidon could all very likely be in hiding. Hopefully we get them in a sequel.

I loved the No Man's Land battle! It was incredible and so emotional! Diana and her group of soliders were also very entertaining! This film made you care about all of them! It's a shame they're all dead in present times :/ The humor and banter between the characters was also very natural and actually funny!

I don't get the complaints about the viallains honestly. I felt both Dr Poison and The General were very intimidating and well acted. Loved that one scene where they kill the other generals! It's a shame I spoiled myself beforehand because I would not have seen that Ares reveal coming!! PLEASE GIVE ME MORE ARES!! He was just so badass and I need more of him! He's such a great villain!!

I'm not going to lie, I shed a manly during Steve's death scene because this film did such an amazing job at building him and his relationship with Diana up! Plus the chemistry between Steve and Diana was incredible. Easily my favorite DCEU couple!

Saw it 2 days ago.

Probably the best DC has put on screen since TDKR. It was full of great characters, heart and the action scenes were amazing (especially the No Man's Land sequence).

Gal Gadot owned the role. She was amazing and made Diana such a hopeful and inspiring character.

My only gripe is a bit of an overly CGI-ed third act with [BLACKOUT] Ares being a classic CBM villain and throwing random stuff at Diana while giving monologues[/BLACKOUT].

Other than that, great and entertaining film.

8.5/10.

finally!!!
I get to come on the boards and congratulate DC for putting out one rousing good, want
to see it again comic book movie. Anything negative to say about this movie would just
be me nit picking, so nothing negative to say. Great job Pattie and Gal (with a hat tip to
some of the supporting cast) 8.5 out of 10.

Saw the movie on Saturday and I absolutely LOVED it. This, THIS is what I've been wanting from the DCEU. It hasn't completely washed out the taste of BvS (and I am still a bit concerned for Justice League) but this movie was (for me) a big step in the right direction.

I loved the actors, I loved the chemistry between them and their interactions. I laughed, I cried, I cheered.

The one downside was the woman next to us who decided to bring her little girl. Please parents, if your child is too young to understand what's going on onscreen and has to ask questions every 10 seconds "why is she doing this?, why is he doing that? whos' that person? what's going on?" and they don't know how to whisper their questions quietly, please PLEASE do NOT bring them to a PG-13 movie. I understand you want to take her to a movie about an awesome female superhero, but her incessant questions are not fair to those around you where almost every big moment of the film is taken away from because she doesn't understand what's going on.

Seriously...for example
Steve's big sacrifice? Little girl let out a big "NOOO, why is he doing that? Why doesn't he jump out? What's he doing mom?!"

We'll probably try to go again in a week or two and cross our fingers that we don't end up with a child too young for the movie sitting right next to us again. The movie is PG-13 for a reason.

Maybe you'll get children on either side of you for your next viewing. And if their parents can't answer, they'll start asking you to explain. :o

Kids.

They can sit down and gleefully stay silent for a Minions movie, but when put in front of a live-action movie they get very logical and question everything.

It's like they use two different parts of the brain for two different types of movies.

It gets worse when they get to their pre-teens and learn about Superherohype.

Haven't been able to comment til today, saw the film on friday...

This movie is one of the greatest CBM's of all time IMO even with it's flaws, absolutely loved it! And I swing more towards marvel in my fandoms, I love DC characters too though.

there were moments where my eyes watered and I had chills.

It's not a perfect film, but I personally don't feel it's worth dwelling on the negatives all that much. voted for a 9/10

superb!

Congrats to you DCEU faithfuls you deserved a win.

Whether she was in Comic Book, animated, or Television form Wonder Woman has always been the personification of strength, courage, intelligence and beauty.
All of the aforementioned has been carried over to the movie Wonder Woman, thanks to the very good portrayal of the iconic character by Gal Gadot,a very good script by Allan Heinberg, and the direction of Patty Jenkins

This is an origin story that is thankfully not dwelling ,not rushed, but gave me enough of WW's growing up on Themyscira/Paradise Island, all of the strengths of and different races of the Amazon's that live there. High praise to Robin Wright as General Antiope: Hippolyta's sister and WW's aunt and mentor & Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta WW's mother.
Also kudo's to the women portraying The Amazon's

Chris Pine continues to prove himself as an actor. The chemistry between him and Gadot is off the charts. They hit all the right notes together, whether its a humorous, dramatic or romantic scene.
Kudos to the actor's that make up WW's World War I team:Saïd Taghmaoui as Sameer
Ewen Bremner as Charlie and Eugene Brave Rock as Chief
This movie works so well as a Comic Book film actually reminding me of The All Star Squadron comic books,a fish out of water story and a war film.Nothing is passed over and the messages throughout the movie are clear

My only gripes are the villains. There was a cheesy campy moment that made me cringe and gave me flashbacks of 1997's Batman & Robin movie
The finale is a CGI fest that was a bit over done, but i liked what was said during it.

Im looking forward to Justice League and a second film featuring the Goddess of Truth

Scale of 1-10 an 8½

Justice league coming in november

ALPHA MALES-Batman.Wonder Woman (she is an alpha male ) .Aquaman

BETA MALES -Flash,Cyborg,Superman

7/10

The movie was better than I expected but would love to have seen some things a bit different:

Didn't liked Ares initial characterization, this sort of luciferesque warring figure, unbowed to Sky Father's "imperfect" creation.

That's why I liked him more in his second characterization as the peacespeaker in the War Cabinet. Pulling the strings from behind, arming both sides of the war. Ares is supposed to feed from human violence and aggressive nature... if there were no humans there would be no violence, hence, there would be no Ares.

Not a fan of the killing of the whole greek pantheon by his hands either, that felt a bit... rushed, having into account that classical gods will be at least mentioned in DCEU mythos (Aquaman and Shazam). I was hoping a more modern approach, gods of old losing followers and powers, forced to leave the phisical realm behind or die forgotten; while more relevant ones like war, knowledge, love and death would stay in our reality (Pratchett and Gaiman come to my mind).

Also, i didn't understand the point of WW maturing and understanding the different shades of the soul and the inner struggle inside every human, disregading the naive idea of a "big bad", just to have a big bad. Ares battle felt unnecessary, he had an awesome potential as a philosophical antagonist to wonder woman's phisical protagonism (just after having the previous 'final fight' with Ludendorff).

Also, violence and war still existing means that Ares presence still lingers in this world?

Loved the WW1 setting, the call to adventure and how Steve Trevor was portrayed. His sacrifice scene was excellent, and loved how that convinced WW. Didn't care much about the sidekicks nor Ludendorff or Doctor Poison.

Also, as a side note, I would love have seen WW as a perseus-like figure, a demi-god, but also a champion of the gods, divine clothed and armed.

[BLACKOUT]Sorry if it's hard to understand, english is not my native language. Would love to see corrections to my mistakes if there's any![/BLACKOUT]

I Would like to Apologize

For months i slammed the Gadot casting saying she was miscast and a terrible actress.
Didnt expect much from Wonderwoman To be honest.

My God did she prove me wrong.Gadot is Wonderwoman. Her performance was so full of heart and Compassion it was inspiring.I may never forgive Snyder for what he did to Superman but i am grateful for the casting of Wonderwoman

This movie was easily the best of the DCEU films and in the eyes of many like myself it marks a true beginning for this Cinematic universe.

My only complaint over the whole Ares thing was [BLACKOUT]Thewlis still having his mustache when he's in full supervillain form. He looked awesome otherwise, but they should have ditched that silly Dr. Watson 'stache and had him either be clean shaven or bearded. [/BLACKOUT]

I concur. [BLACKOUT]And the helmet should have stayed on.[/BLACKOUT]

Saw it today and loved it, Gal is class as Wonder Woman, she really does a great job, not only physically and visually, but she inbues Diana with such a charming warmth and humour, creating a very likable and easy to root for hero. Likewise Chris Pine is on point as Steve Trevor, their dynamic really drives the narrative perfectly.

Patty Jenkins and her design team did a wonderful job of bringing Themyscira to life, it's spectacularly beautiful and regal, and it contrasts so well with the cold, bleak war of man's world Diana finds herself in as she becomes Wonder Woman.

The first 90 minutes is superb, as good as an origin movie gets, from Diana's life with the Amazons and the God's backstory that is creatively depicted, to her discovering the present day and the state of the world at war as her and Steve's relationship also develops, this part of the film with it's fish out of water situation has some genuinely funny moments and I loved the little sequence in the alley where Diana takes out the Nazi goons with her bracelets.

I felt after Wonder Woman [BLACKOUT]saves the village with Steve and the motley crew[/BLACKOUT] the film lost it's sharpness a bit, the set up for the event at the castle was cool but then the last 25 minutes or so dragged on a bit with the big reveal that was well done, but there was too much speechifying and not enough focus on the 2 central pieces of action of [BLACKOUT]Wonder Woman vs Ares and Steve stealing the plane,[/BLACKOUT] it just gets a bit disjointed IMO with more explosions than inventive action.

Despite the film's climactic action being a bit underwhelming the other 3 big sequences in the film are very good, in particular the beach battle between the Amazons and the Nazis and Wonder Woman [BLACKOUT]freeing the village[/BLACKOUT].

The only other mild criticisms for me are a bit of wonky CGI and a lack of screentime and development for Dr Maru, I thougth she was an intriguing villain who was well played, but I'd have liked to know a bit more about her and her motivations and pyschology.

This film is a triumph though, without a doubt! it doesn't shy away from the ugliness of war as seen through the somewhat naive eyes of the pure hearted Diana, but never strays too far away from being both a great oriign film for a classic character and a fun action adventure movie.

8.5/10
