BvS Wonder Woman's Role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Part 1

She was the best part of this trailer. Silent but very undeniably present.

She was very well-used here. I expect we'll hear something from her in the next trailer, but I don't know if I want to watch another one.

Note: I can't believe I just said that.

:hehe: I don't think I'm watching anymore footage after this one too. That's understandable.

I forgot, even Finch has had a line. Every main billing cast member except Gadot. It's a fair criticism at this point.

Yes Holly Hunter's character has had lines in the first two trailers.

Right people are forgetting acting is not just resitting lines you memorized it's also about making the character come together with your body language.

This is true but you (well not you per se but in general) can't keep saying that evreytime.

Please bare in mind this isn't a direct criticism of Gal its' whoever is in charge of cutting these trailers because they have been asked to put these shots in.

I'm not watching anymore trailers or footage from now on. I feel I saw too much even in this trailer. I would've been content with more of a teaser which ended with Wonder Woman appearing but not seeing Doomsday or even too much of the dialogue between Clark and Bruce or Lex Luthor.

Well yeah unless she's playing Mute Woman #2 and not Wonder Woman. She's not said a syllable as of yet and we've had 3 trailers.

Superman didn't have any lines until the most recent trailer.

Yeah not seeing the problem here. They seem to be playing up the mystery of why she's even here in the first place.

Superman didn't have any lines until the most recent trailer.

Cavil had a line in the last (Comic Con) trailer. Just before the Clark and Perry scene. It's " This bat vigilante is a one man reign of terror".

But I get your point. Gal hasn't had any... so far.

Just saw Diana at Lex's party in the trailer, the woman in red with hair styled on top passing in the background when Clark introduces himself to Bruce:

Couldn't find a better still of her on the internet, but pause at 0:20 and you'll see it's Gadot in this dress:

I'll try to find a better still of that moment.

She's a socialite visiting Metropolis or an ambassador. I want to know your modern occupation Wonder Woman besides superhero spy!

Here's a bit better shot, though not perfect:

You can see her dress and face at 0:20, I just can't make a still of that shot right now.

Edit:

Here's a gif, thanks to moviefreak:

A bigger and uncompressed one:

Open it for full size.

These bracelets look great, by the way.

She looks beautiful here, actually she looks beautiful in every clip and shot I've seen. Makes me want to watch her movie, if I didn't hate the character so much.
I also wouldn't call those bracelets they may be the new modern stand in for the old bracelets ...but to me they come off more as part of her armor.

Technically those are bracers and not bracelets and she's been wearing them in comics as often if not even more often than classical bracelets, so yeah it is part of the armor:

The terms are often used interchangeably.

Why do you hate the character, though?

So, have we any information on WW's origins in this universe, any ideas? I read from
Charles Roven i believe that she will be a Goddess, a greek demigod.

Now, it bought about it, i thought about the connections in the wider scope of things and i really do like the idea that Earth was once ruled by a different race, with technology we can'tt even understand, that earth has an ancient astronaught theory.

What if, the ancient greek gods were original earthlings, but highly advanced, using full human capacity. We now only use like 10% of our brains. They have all sorts of technology. They may share the earth with atlantians too.

There could be an invading race or ET threat, where Zeus has to act. Hide a civilization for its own protection?

Honestly, i would love to see the origin involve the kryptonian scout ship from 18,000 years prior. Wait, before you all moan and groan.

So we have this advanced kryptonian female on earth, she knows the inhabitants are similar to her in appearance and DNA, she also has the AI and birth matrix information to create her own world - so going back to Zeus, what if there is a hybrid version that she and Zeus create, together, to form a paradise where war no longer exists, where she has this safe haven, from a threat far greater than she has ever known. Maybe where they feel man is also the problem (or men are wanted and seen as useful so no men, no dangers) so they alter the matrix chamber to just produce females.

Sure people can say, that's not the origins, but, it still has elements of her origins and it is a feesable idea.

anyways, it's just an idea i could go along with - not really interested in trolling or sarcastic replies.

Being as how Suicide Squad is going to be embracing magic and occultism in the DCEU, the Greek gods will probably be portrayed as gods instead of an ancient race with advanced technology.

That's cool, but would a few want the more grounded explanation?

What's the "grounded" explanation for Gods, magic and occultism ?

I would think the Thor route, which is ironically a Marvel movie. Where the Gods are just highly advanced aliens with technology indistinguishable from magic.

The "magic is science blah, blah, blah," is a fan thing. The general audience has no problem accepting sci fi and magic and mysticism together. I will always contend the way Marvel handled Thor was more about political correctness in not wanting controversy from vocal Evangelical Christain types than some fear the audience NEEDED an airtight, logical reason for "magic and gods". Especially since at no time is there much explained about the nature or actual mechanics of the Asgardian tech. Sure, they take pains to say the Bifrost is a worm hole type device but there is not too much more than that. I mean what was a big complaint about the prequels of Star Wars? Midichlorians. There was no need to explain the mystical, the audience had already accepted the mystical in a world of space ships, robots and laser guns.

Suicide Squad has an ancient sorceress possessing the body of a young woman and a ronin with a sword that takes souls. The DCEU appears to have "magic" without the need for some kind of underlying pseudo scientific exposition.

I think DCEU is just treating magic as a fundamental force of nature, not something unnatural.

And really you can explain magic any number of ways. Magic is basically something we can't explain with science yet.

I'm starting to think more and more that Wonder Woman will be the leader

Eh? The whole "anything not easily explained tends to be attributed to magic/spirituality" discussion is a prevalent talking point of human nature and religion. It's neither new nor limited to fanboy spiel.

I'll agree here, only because I think exposition of this sort can get in the way of more important storytelling and world-building. Fantasy seems to have been lost in some modern films and it would be great to just embrace otherworldly "rules".

I just want everything to be as grounded as possible. If they can make a Superman movie grounded they can do anything.

If you want grounded magic go read Shadow Ops by Myke Cole or Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Magic is like a science.
