I've got faith in him. He seems enthusiastic about the job and genuinely cares about the character. And he worked with Rucka during the two pivotal arcs that really shaped Kate as we know her now. I've got the utmost confidence in him.

If Tony Daniel can surprise us with a cool Batman story arcs. I'm sure John H. Williams III can manage the same.

My main worry, too. Apparently he co-wrote that Chase comic, and has a couple of short stories he's written and published in various forms. Not read any of that, so I'm not sure. I'm relieved that it's not his very first job like I thought at first, though. He's been artists from some of the top talent in the industry today (namely Moore and Rucka), but that's not a guarantee of anything. I'll hope for the best right now

Wow. Very surprised and dissapointed to hear that. Personally I wouldn't boycott her as someone has to be a really loathsome individual for me to boycott their work based on what their like in person. Rob Liefield or Orson Scott Card for example

But I completely understand why you'd be in a foul mood after an experience like that one.

I heard Rob was very nice in person, like he'll sign anything and everything. Also, Chuck Austein was the nicest guy i ever met in the comics industry. Even after I told him how much I hated his work.

I was also less than thrilled with his comments about Shatterstar. They came across as highly ignorant and homophobic.

But I have no problem with Chuck Austen. I mean I'm no great lover of his work but he seems perfectly lovely as a person.

Liefeld's comments didn't come off as homophobic to me.

I myself don't see any problem with a gay Shatterstar, but I can understand Liefeld being annoyed at one of his creations being used in a completely opposite way that he envisions him. He simply feels that making Shatterstar gay sucks. As Liefeld said in his own comments:

I have nothing against gays, I have gay family, nuthin' but love here....Ditto gay characters if that's what their true origins are.

If anything Liefeld is more guilty of being far too attached to a creation of his that doesn't belong to him. Because Marvel can do whatever the **** they want to with Shatterstar and considering how Liefeld is a major in the comic book industry, he should know better and suck it up.

It was just the "He can't be gay! He's a WARRIOR!" comments that gave me pause. Though maybe that was just a case of a poor choice of words on Rob's part rather than any deliberate prejudice

I agree that it's a poor choice of words, but I don't think that Liefeld was trying to be hateful at all towards the homosexual community.

And I also found Peter David to be the more childish one in this argument by writing a particular scene in X-Factor specifically to piss Liefeld off.

David: Thanks for the reference to “Gladiator,” though. Now I’m definitely going to have Guido ask Shatterstar if he likes gladiator movies. And when Shatterstar says, “Yes, absolutely,” Guido will say, “Figures.”

Then in X-Factor #200, he actually did it:

I'm sorry, but while for the most part Liefeld is a crappy artist and is always a crappy writer because he lacks any original ideas, I expect Peter David to be more professional towards his peers.

Wow. That really is a rather jerk-ish thing for Peter David to do, even if the other writer was acting very immature themself. Sometimes it's a good idea to be the bigger peron and just walk away. Or at least be a little cleverer with your comebacks
