Journey to the Center of The Earth.

Ugh, horrible. Ties with The Mummy. Maybe it's just me, but Brendan Frazier really knows how to pick out crap-filled scripts.

I'd have to say Hancock. I didn't hate it but I expected more from this.

I voted the dark knight to get on people's nerves :O
Honestly I'd have to say prince caspian, I haven't seen it but how disappointing. People were expecting it to zoom past 300 million, instead it struggles to 140...ouch.

And SHOCKINGLY!!! Mamma Mia made 136 domestic and 400 million world wide!!!...YES, 400 freakin million worldwide. Im surprised, I didn't know it did so well.

From the list, I've only seen

Iron Man
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
The Incredible Hulk
Wall-E
The Dark Knight
Tropic Thunder

And the vote was to Wall-E... visually amazing, but pretty dumb story IMO

Whhhhhattt!?! :wow:

I actually thought Wall-E and The Dark Knight were the top of the top of the summer. In my opinion Wall-E was Pixar's best film of all time, the scene where Wall-E is deactivated and Evs is trying to bring him back to 'life' is so touching. And the film is like virtually a giant silent film save for the few humans here and there...and surprisingly it worked, well for me at least.

Well, I enjoyed a lot the first part on Earth, but from the moment they got to space, I was just rolling my eyes, and waiting for the movie to end... the story kept making less and less sense... Like the "tension" of Wall-E and Eve when they are about to be thrown out to space in the garbage disposal, when they just were dancing in space like 15 minutes ago...

Still, I got to see a lot of movies from the list :)

Out of the ones I saw... Wanted. But I haven't seen quite a few movies on that list.

Most Dissapointing Movie of the Summer: The Dark Knight.

I post the reason why soon but it involves piss poor scriptwriting and directing.

^^^^^Huh? Seriously, I'm at a loss.

To dislike TDK is one thing - but for the reasons for that dislike to be the scriptwriting and directing?

Those aspects are what garner the Nolan brothers most of their praise - Solid storytelling and tight direction.

Next you'll be saying you also hated the scripts and direction for Insomnia, Memento, the Prestige etc

Anyway, Voted for the Mummy.

And I gotta be honest, I'm scratching my head as to how 'Sex and the City' counts as a summer 'blockbuster'?

The script for Memento was crap. Just a gimmick. Reverse the film and thats what you get.

The script for TDK simply consited of characters speaking long monologoues to each of other rather than interact with real characterisation. it seemed to stretch long un-needed scenes to each action piece deriving the movie of any depth in either story or characters.

The direction simply resorted to constant moving camera work which failed to establish any true meaning to any of the scenes or expand on any kind of visual symbolism nor tension simply relying of a cliche movie score consiting of screeching voilins to create mood.

With a combination of bland acting, bad scriptwriting and a director who fails to establish any kind atmosphere to a over complicated crime story, you are left with the most overrated movie of all time (#1 on the IMDB!?).

Couldnt honestly vote, of the ones i have seen on the poll, i enjoyed them all.

Out of all the people who voted for TDK...who was being serious?

Me, for reasons mentioned above.

Ah, ok.

I have nothing against your opinion, I was just wondering who voted for TDK for real reasons (not just "I had to, lolz!").

And happy 1,000 posts to me. :D

I saw:
-Iron Man (twice)
-The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
-Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (twice)
-The Incredible Hulk
-The Dark Knight (3 times)
-Mamma Mia!
-and Tropic Thunder

Of those the only bad movie, IMO, was Mamma Mia. So, I should vote for that. But somehow I just know in my gut, Don't Mess with the Zohan was worse, so that is what I voted for.

I can't really make an informed decision at this point, since I didn't go see the really crappy movies.

Yes, I agree that TDK is overrated for the moment...but we're at SHH. Any good superhero movie is going to get overrated buzz but The Dark Knight was a great movie, easily in my top 3 for the year so far. And even if you didn't like the film how can you hate the score?...and how is Memento a bad story? Memento is probably the most creative endeavors in film during this decade.

I don't know why its #1 on IMDB but that list is a mess anyways, a lot of those films don't deserved to be titled the 250 best films of all times. I do think TDK deserves a spot in the 250 but I don't know about having the spot.

And I thought the movie delivered plenty of depth. Its moral message wasn't cryptic or supercomplex but it was pretty thought provoking(they are not the same). I actually thought about what Joker had to say about our "civilized" society and human nature days after I had seen the movie. Not to mentioned Heath Ledger delivered an amazing performance, nothing bland at all, imo
Maggie G sucked though, I don't know why the replace Katie Holmes if the person substituting won't even do a better job.

Anyways thats just my 2 cents. :o

...but please iterate your point on Memento, I just can't fathom how it can be categorized as having a "bad script"

I was going to post a long argument, but I'm just going to cut to the chase and call you an assclown.

:oldrazz: :woot:

Anyway, it's The Mummy 3 for me...Worst thing is I had to see it on my birthday :down What a forgettable film. I enjoyed Journey 3D though :o

It's a tie for me with Zohan and Mummy 3 but I voted for Zohan.

Hancock, and Narnia. Hancock wasnt funny, IMO, and it had a lame twist and crappy CG. Narnia was too confusing and too "epic" for its own good. And it didnt have enough action for me.
