Worst Cases of Miscasting

I mean...what the hell?!

LOL, good one. I saw the preview for that movie last week and laughed my ass off. Dali is my favorite artist of all time and one of the most complex figures in history, and I HIGHLY doubt a mediocre actor like Pattinson can portray him accurately.

Thanks. You know what they say about hind-sight and all that. But guys like me who didn't like Jackman back in 2004 or even 2000 were still right even then. It just took a couple more lousy movies to prove what we intinctively knew. Just because an actor portrays a superhero in a successful film(s) doesn't make that take on the character the best one. I'd say that about the portrtayal of Prof. X, Spidey, Wolverine, Cyclops,Storm and hell, just about most of the X-folks. They weren't able(or allowed) to get to the core of the character and truly embody them unlike Reeves with Superman, RDJ with Iron Man and maybe Bale with Batman(that voice needs some serious work though).

Frank Langella acted just like and sounded just like Nixon, but for the life of me I can't bring myself to think he looked like him.

Also didn't care for Liv Tyler in Incredible Hulk. And finally,

they couldn't have gotten someone else to voice Treebeard in LOTR? Christ, it was pretty obvious who it was, and on such a detailed and finely tuned production, it NEVER made sense to me.

Storm (Halle was terrible and the character did nothing interesting)
Cyclops (made him a candyass)
Rogue (too young and innocent, though Paquin did well with what she was given)


I won't even go into the crappy characters that they introduced in X-Men: The Last Gasp or the new Wolvie movie.

Jackman didn't even come close to nailing that aspect of the character, except for a few moments early in X1 and a couple of scenes in X2. I think Jackie Earle Haley would make a much better Wolverine.

Jackman didn't even come close to nailing that aspect of the character, except for a few moments early in X1 and a couple of scenes in X2. I think Cyclops was screwed regardless of who was cast to play him. Just watch the first X-Men, it was obvious from the get go that the script was not in his favor (we all know whose favor the script was in), he had about 20 minutes of screen time and spoke about 15 words throughout the entire thing, and that was slashed in half with X2 & X3. In a way, Cyclops is the Superman to Wolverine's Batman - he came into existence first, and he is constantly overshadowed by the later, more popular creation.

I love Haley, but I can't see him as Wolverine at all. Rohrschach? Hell yes. Freddie Kruger? I'm so there. But Logan? Not a chance. First of all, I don't think he has the frame to bulk up that much. Second, I really, really have a hard time seeing Haley as a romantic lead, which is something Wolverine must be with the love triangle storyline (and since Cyclops was reduced to boy band-loving *****e, it's pretty obvious that we're supposed root for Wolvie).

And please, let's not start the height debate. If there's one thing I can't stand it's this... people act like an actor has to be 5'0" to play Wolverine or 6'5" to play Superman and there are NO exceptions. It's just ridiculous. It's not like Jackman was 7 feet tall.
