He's normally very good from what I've seen him in, so I think his bad performance was mostly due to a ****ty script and director. But literally from the offset of hearing that Alba was going to Sue, I was like " No...."

Matthew Goode was Mis Cast In Watchmen but i really enjoyed him in it one of the rare cases of liking a mis cast for me at least

I agree. When I saw the first pics of him as Ozymandias I thought, "Come on. Really?" But even though he doesn't resemble the version of Ozy from the graphic novel, Goode understood the character and brought him to life the best way that he could. Would it have been better if they had cast someone who was just a bit older? Maybe, but I don't see anything wrong with Goode's performance. Regarding "Watchmen", most of the actors' performances (like Akerman, Crudup, Wilson, etc.) didn't matter in the long run. Jackie Earle Haley stole the movie as Rorschach.

I agree. When I saw the first pics of him as Ozymandias I thought, "Come on. Really?" But even though he doesn't resemble the version of Ozy from the graphic novel, Goode understood the character and brought him to life the best way that he could. Would it have been better if they had cast someone who was just a bit older? Maybe, but I don't see anything wrong with Goode's performance. I think Akerman as Silk was worse than Goode. Atleast Goode brought the goods. Akerman didn't really look like Silk. She also couldn't act.

I am sure it has been said already, but I would say Halle Berry in X-Men.

The casting of caucasians to play "ethnic" roles usually turns out pretty bad. A famous example is Charlton Heston playing a mexican cop in Touch Of Evil. Orson Welles himself looked embarrassing wearing black make-up to play Othelo. I just saw Mickey Rooney as the annoying chinese neighbor from Breakfast At Tiffany´s, and not only the role is a horribly old-fashioned stereotype, but he looks ridiculous as the chinese caricature, with the glasses and fake teeth.

And this is not just an issue of objectifying women, that´s the role. Its like playing a serial killer without killing anyone. It shows how these Hollywood starlets are such spoiled brats, they wanna play "edgy" roles, but they won´t go the extra mile. The big irony of SC is the stripper is one of the few women who don´t take their clothes off in the movie.

but i understand why she didnt do it. she was at that time the it girl and going nude would destroy everything for her place in hollywood.

i would blame the studio and ''Roaioudriguezzze''.

there are cheaper and better actors who would go nude for a hambuerger. it is how it is.

The difference is that to play the serial killer you don't have to actually kill anyone, I personally never saw the big deal with the stripping thing, it wouldn't add anything to the film if we saw Alba's boobs.

Why would nudity be a career problem, Halle Berry and Kate Winslet won Oscars for movies where they play nude/sex scenes. Angelina Jolie is the biggest female star in Hollywood and she did a ton of nude and sex scenes, before and after becoming popular.

You don´t have to kill anyone to play a killer, but you have to make it as believable as possible that you did. I´m supposed to think of that scene as a big shocker for Willis´ Character, that the sweet little girl he knew turned into a sassy stripper, it reduces the impact of the scene. If an actress is uncomfortable with nudity, she doesn´t have to play a stripper.

Yeah, but if an actress is uncomfortable with nudity, why play a stripper of all characters? She was the "it" girl and couldn´t pick a role more adequate to her sensibilities?

In that particular movie, where almost every woman shows her boobs or more, a non-nude stripper looks a little odd to say the least.

Which gets back to my original point, that Hollywood starlets intentionally pick these "edgy" roles expecting to prove their versatility, yet they can´t forget about themselves and get immersed in whatever the role demands, which is one of the symptons of their general lack of acting ability, which is why Alba is no longer the "it" girl and is currently a B-list actress in her way to the C-list.

Goldie, the chick who sleeps with sleeps with Marv, bares it too, I think there´s more but the movie isn´t quite fresh in my memory.

I never got into the whole 'Alba is the hottest thing to come out of Hollwood" and I do agree that it's kind of a tease that she gets the role(only because she was the it girl at the time)and doesn't want to bare her breasts even though the majority if not the rest of the film was comic accurate.

We have an opposite point of view on this matter, for me, the best actor in the world can't save a bad script, he can help but not save it.
