Worst Cases of Miscasting

And seems to have the education of a second grader.

You used the word "acted" and him in the same sentence. Those things don't mix.

jason alexander as cosmo from fairly odd parents.

i don't even understand it

Of course an actress can play a hooker without doing a sex scene or a stripper without showing her boobs, but if you´re a stripper and you´re showed performing on stage, it´s like showing someone portraying a porn star during the shooting of a sex scene. it´s exploitative, yes, but it´s still integral part of the role. When you cover it up, it´s like screaming to the audience "squeamish Hollywood chick wanted to play a stripper, but was too embarrassed to go nude". There are even camera tricks that allow the actress to do the nude scene without showing her boobs to the audience,, I think Natalie Portman did that when she played a stripper in Closer, Alba has done "naked back, side boob" scenes, I think there´s one in The Sleeping Dictionary - which has a boob shot, but it´s a double, another resource for the non-baring actress.

And I think it´d have helped the sleaze factor. And Alba needs it, she has little more than that going for her.

All the things you mention here though were down to Rodruguez, he could have chosen any of these tricks but chose not to, hardly Alba's fault or a case for miscating IMO.

I don't agree but that's neither ehre no there in this debate I'd say. :cwink:

Foster being 14 at the time may have had something to do with her not going nude on cinemagoers in '76.

I wasn't meaning nude since the age obviously means that was a no no, but didn't Dakota Fanning do a rape scene when she was around that age? I was simply meaning Foster portrayed the character well and the ugliness of the situation was apparent without the need for nudity or sex scenes.

Apparently, we just narrowly avoided two pretty terrible cases of miscasting.

James Marsden as Cyclops

This is why...

Wolverine 5'3, cyclops 6'3

Hugh Jackman 6'2, James marsters 5'11 (must have been standing on a yellow pages)

I dont think Cyclops is the miscast one there...

Hehehehehehehe, funny 'cause it's true. Of course, Marsden was a last minute replacement for Jim Caviezel, who's about the same height as Jackman - as well as being closer in age to Famke Janssen (Jean) than Marsden.

Granted, we'd probably never get a 5'3" actor as Wolverine. At best we might one day get a guy who's about 5'8".

Its not the height. Jackman simply doesn't inderstand the character.

...and don't you dare say it was the studio's fault. Jackman was a producer for the last two X-men films.

Look how Deadpool is turning out. Simply because the actor is so enthusiastic, and Ryan isn't even a producer. :whatever:

Jackman only wants a paycheck.

Nick Chinlund could of been a bad ass wolverine but he is just as tall as Jackman lol

Not that I dont enjoy Jackman's Wolverine, it's just not the best (that actually may be an understatement, it's actually pretty crappy) casting.

not really it is just the way they portrayed him he should of been way more vicious but he was'nt written that way

he was written as a cool bad ass

had no problem with his height

Well, we don't know how much control Jackman actually had as a producer. Tim Burton is listed as a Producer for Batman Forever, but he literally did nothing for the movie. Schumacher credited him as that out of respect.

And Jackman didn't write the script for Wolverine. I think he could do a very solid Logan with a better script. He wasn't bad in X1 or X2. Yes, he is too tall, but they should have made him look shorter.

And to be honest, I don't want to see a 5'3 Wolverine. The artists never draw him at that height anyways. He always looks more 5'7 to 5'8.

Micheal Gambon as Dumbledore is just bad replacement casting. I hate that man in every scene he utters dialogue in those movies.

I thought he was fine in HBP, and pretty darn good in POA. It was GOF that I absolutely hated. Though I blame that mostly on the director, since his performance changes noticeably with every director he's had. OOTP I was indifferent to, since he was supposed to be aloof, but I still didn't like the "DON'T YOU ALL HAVE STUDYING TO DO?" line.

But I will agree he wasn't my ideal choice for DD. Peter O'toole would have been much better. Harris was good, but he was too frail. Which is understandable, considering that he was dying. If he had only been ten years younger....oh well, one can wish.

I'd never thought of O'toole, Sir Ian Mckellan would have been nice, I wish Harris would have been able to live a little longer. Not for us but just because he seemed like such a genuinely amazing person.

Til Schweiger as Werner Voss in The Red Baron.

It's not that Schweiger was bad in the role... but casting a 46-year-old to play a 20-year-old is ridiculous. I guess they were just banking on Americans not knowing or caring how old Voss actually was.

Other than that though, I loved the film.

dude... are you f***ing serious? considering somebody miscast because of their height? i'm sorry, but that fanboy mentality is just ridiculous to me. :whatever:
anyway, i think hayden christiensen was miscast as anakin skywalker, but i also think he should have been written with a more charismatic personality, so the entire character was a misfire.

well casting for Anakin was crap to begin with

Actors auditioning for the part of Anakin included Ryan Phillippe, Paul Walker, and Colin Hanks

LOL

Leo auditioned, it was reported by USA today way back in the day.

Yeah, it's turning out awesome, the script seems amazing, that trailer was fantastic! What Deadpool movie? You mean the one that'll come out the same time as Justic League.
