Worst CBM villain

Green Lantern had the worst. Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy were at least entertaining. And even the worst Marvel Studios villlains are still decent.
But Hector Hammond and Parralax were just terrible.

We've had a lot of villains over the years. Some good, some bad. But who are the worst?

More recently I say Electro, Ronan, Rhino, Ultron, Malekith, and Mandarin

I liked Ronan.

Of the ones you listed, Rhino is the worst.

From old DC movies: Nuclear Man, Two Face, Bane, Poison Ivy.
Recent DC movies: Hector Hammond, Parallax.

Spiderman movies: Venom, Sandman, Electro, Rihno.

MCU movies: Mandarin, Malkeith, Youndu.

Somehow, nobody is mentioning the villains from Elektra, Catwoman, and Jonah Hex.

Ma-Ma from Dredd is an underwhelming villain.
  • A hooker got abused by a client, decided to become a ruthless gang leader and take over Peach Trees compound.
  • Wanted her people to take down the judges, and slapped the guy who escaped Dredd and got a judge hostage.
  • Her bomb threat was so false all Dredd did was throw her out the window, after letting her inhale the slow mo drug.
The old movie has a more compelling villain.

I did.

-Man-Thing - his movie
-Rhino - Amazing Spider-Man 2
-Nuclear Man - Superman IV
-Whoever appears in Elektra
-Electro (It's my birthday) - Amazing Spider-Man 2
-Bane - Batman & Robin
-Malekith - Thor The Duck World
Still don't count Catwoman as a CBM, cause it carries no resemblance to the source material character and her life.
Did not see Jonah Hex.

As many wise posters have said there are a more than a few substandard villains out there, but the truly worst villain in a cbm is a pretty tough call.

There's a lot of hate for Mr Freeze, but really within the context of that film (which was ridiculous crap) he fit right in. He was no better or worse than Bane or Clooney's Bat-bore, or any of the other terrible characters. So I can't say he's the worst. In fact I think Schwarzenegger was a good choice, and played it perfectly in an awful film.

Galactus.....well the portrayal of one of Marvel's greatest villains as a big cloud, and then having the Surfer take him out....well that was a crime in itself. But still not the worst villain ever.

Venom and Sandman were pretty terrible too....... but still not the worst. The same could be said for Nuclear man, seriously OTT, but like Mr Freeze he was playing to the tone set in a terrible film.

Malekith, boring but otherwise not really a terrible villain.

Parallax/Hector Hammond, yup pretty terrible, a strong contender for the worst, but not quite.........

TDKR Bane probably gets a mention for worst execution on the characterization of a villain - I love Nolan, but the mask and muffled voice
was a total mistake.

Man, this is hard. Honestly, I can't say who's the worst, but I can definitely say who's my least favourite - Dr Doom !

Now I don't know if Julian McMahon's performance is the worst, but it was awful. I think what I hate about this version of the character is that they take one of the craziest, baddest and most iconic of all comic book villains ever....

I'm a DC fan y'all, but I think Doc Doom makes Lex Luthor look like a punk.
Dr. Doom is the archetypal supervillain. He's the villain that supervillains aspire to. The guy deserves his own series ( I loved Doom 2099).

Anyway, to see the paragon of all evil megalomaniacs turned into a rather whiny, effete and just *****y punk- not scary or menacing or even someone we respect for his evil maniacal genius.

Well, to me that's the worst crime in terms of portrayals of villains. I mean Parallax, in the comics he looks like a big yellow bug, so the fart cloud was awful, but nowhere near as the massive disappointment that Dr Doom was.

That's just my 2c of course, so I'll go with Dr. Doom - just for the let down factor.

Peace out super -fans !

[BLACKOUT]Actually, the bomb threat wasn't false. The detonator was set up so it would blow if her heartbeat stopped. He tossed her out the window so that she died when she hit the bottom and the detonator's signal was out of range of the bombs which were on the top [some number I can't recall] levels. [/BLACKOUT]

Most of the Marvel cinematic villains have been underwhelming to me.

But by far the worst CBM villain I think has to be Talia in TDKR.

Bane in Batman and Robin
Galactus in Fantastic Four 2
Electro, Rhino, and Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Two Face in Batman Forever
Malekith in Thor 2
Nuclear Man in Superman 4

Agreed. The way her villainy was revealed was horrendous and really took the wind out of the movie's sails IMO. And don't even get me started on her "death" scene...

X-Men seems to be the franchise mentioned least here. Only Weapon XI and Origins Stryker make a few lists with one member not liking Magneto.

I'll throw in all the villains in Blade Trinity. Parker Posey was horrendous in that

I didn't say I didn't like him. He's definitely charismatic and believes in his cause. He has motivation for being the villain. He's probably the best, most fleshed out comic book villain in cinema.

But I thought some of his actions in Days of Future Past were bizarre to say the least. He was self destructive. At the ends of Days of Future Past and even First Class, the X-Men are successfully trying to put the genie back in the bottle and Magneto shows up and smashes the damn thing.

Oh, and while we're on the topic of bad comic book movie villains, I forgot one. I thought Bay's TMNT movie made Karai look like a total **** up.

That wasn't even really Karai. Seriously, you'd never know that that's who that was meant to be unless they specifically said her name. She was "generic henchwoman #23."

At least the Karai (and Shredder) in the sequel actually LOOK like Karai (and Shredder).

I just assumed it was Karai, because, why wouldn't it be? And the credits and IMBD confirmed that it was her, but you're right. She wasn't really a character. But I seem to recall her screwing up everything she touched. So, if that's supposed to be Karai and her only characteristic is screwing everything up, they took a legit villain and made her a joke. I didn't like that.

And yes, looks like they are putting a bit more into their villains for the sequel. I'll be seeing the sequel in the theaters. I grew up with the Turtles, but I still didn't hate this movie as much as a lot of people did.

That ending was still underwhelming for a person with her influence.

Personally, I thought she was hillarious. Yeah, she was awful as were HHH and the rest of the vampire villain crew, even Dominic Purcell was pretty lame as the supposed grand-pappy of all vampires.

However, they were all unintentionally funny - and for some reason it makes it all the more hillarious when Ryan Reynolds makes fun of her. So I can't put her in the worst category, simply because it was so funny watching her try to act. Now Dr Doom in the FF films....nothing funny about him at all. Well, nothing like this....

Danica Talos: Tell us about Blade, King. What's this weapon he's been planning?
Hannibal King: I can tell you two things. One, your hairdo is ridiculous. Two, I ate a lot of garlic, and I just farted. Silent but deadly.

LOL !

I guess I'm gonna have to go with Malekith, because I can't remember any of his lines. I guess he was that forgettable.

She had a couple of solid acting moments as well, such as when she threatened to bite Hannibal so he would turn and feed on the little girl. She and Reynolds were both good when the movie did that close-up shot.

She also didn't torture Hannibal or Blade with guinea pigs. :woot:

Yeah, I'd forgotten about that, the "thirst" that wasn't bad. But come on, the torture/interrogation scene was otherwise pretty hillarious between Reynolds wisecracking and Posey's OTT.

"everybody stop saying dick, it provokes my envy."

So not the worst villain ever, but by no means a great or even good one
Just IMO though.

That name that Hannibal called her (the one with "thunder"), which I'm not sure is SHH-TOS friendly, was hilarious. I don't think I've heard that before or since. :woot:

Sharon Stone in Catwoman (Okay, I never actually saw it, but she HAD to be awful)
Two-Face in Batman Forever
Mr. Freeze and Bane in Batman & Robin
Sadman, Topher-Venom and Motocross Goblin in Spider-Man 3
Xander Drax in The Phantom (UNNNNNNBEEEEELIIIEEEVAAAABLLLLE!!!)
Malekith in Thor: The Dark Turd
Gus Gorman in Superman 3
Nuclear Man in Superman 4
Drunk Nick Nolte in Hulk
"Dracula" in Blade Trinity
Hector Hammond in Green Lantern

Why are people mentioning Mandarin? He has yet to appear. Do people mean Trevor Slattery or Aldrich Killian?

Worse villains are the two fart clouds Parallax and Galactus, Dr Doom, Hector Hammond, Juggernaut, Barakapool, Mr Freeze, Bane, Poison Ivy, both Harry Goblins, Electro, Talia al Ghul, Venom, and Rhino

Oh yeah, I forgot about Dr. Doom in the old F4 movies. Julian McMahon's career has never recovered from that.

I don't know if this was a problem of the director, but I felt like McMahon kind of "phoned in" his performance. I thought he was pretty cold and menacing on Charmed and then, given the chance to play one of the biggest bad ass villains ever, he was just meh.
