Worst Movies of the Year for 2006!

primemover said:
So you are honestly saying it was the 'worst' movie of 2006?

Ok ... I will get serious for a second.

When the question of 'worst' movie is asked it can mean different things to different people.

For example ... SR had excellent production values and a good heart ... I cannot deny that.

But when I look back at all the movies I paid to see this year it was MY least favourite, I went in un-spoiled and waited to be blown away by an epic superhero tale. I came out hating just about everything I had seen.

So there you go ............... Sorry if the Superman lovers cannot handle it but its MY opinion.

It was one of the worse of the movies I've seen this year... so I included it on my worst movies of the year list.

I still am striving to understand the hate for SR. Sure it's not BB or X2 level, and I actually did find X-3 more entertaining (though in terms of overall plot and character development as well as depth, SR is way better), but seriously do you honestly think it's on level with films like Nacho Libre, Date Movie, The Black Dahlia, Little Man and a host of other swill reeased this year? SR was a solid outing, if not a masterpiece, and I really don't understand all the hate.

Well, I guess if you only saw a few select movies, SR could be the worst of the group depending on the group, but I don't think I would state it as 'the worst' movie of the year knowing that movies like Bloodrayne, Date Movie and White Noise are out there too.

MIAMI VICE WAS THE WORST MOVIE.

Everyone pretty much hated it: Fans of the show, 80 percent of viewers, the critics, the general audience, ME.

The movie was supposed to be so good. Michael Mann is an amazing director and the cast and trailers were promising, however, when the film began you couldnt even understand what people were saying...unless they swore..that was always accentuated..and the plot progression was so sloppy that you couldnt even understand how one thing was connected to the other. and it was 2 and a half hours ....the gun fights were okay but the movie was so massively dissapointing and terrible that it registers as worst movie.

People who are saying superman returns was the worst movie...shame on you..its not the best movie and it was unsuccessful on many terms but it did help bring superman back and it wasnt as bad as 3 and 4. X3 was terrible and it was a huge dissapointement so that might be close to worst...then there r movies like date movie that live up to expectations..which are basically rock bottom...scary movie 4 etc.

Miami vice was the worst.

Well, I only saw 6 movies at the theater this year:

X-3
Superman Returns
The Black Dahlia
The Departed (the best of them)
Borat
Casino Royale

Of those, SR is close to the bottom of the list as far as quality goes, and I still damn well enjoyed it. Even if it was the worst movie to YOU (not pointing you out specifically, primemover), that doesn't mean it was the worst film of the year. Come on, SR is leaps and bounds ahead of a lot of the films to come out this year.

Precisely, and going by your list I would say that The Black Dahlia might be the worst, at least it was the worst received of that grouping.

I myself have watched a ton of movies this year, HERE, so I had a lot to choose from :D

Miami vice was the worst.

See, I understand you not liking the movie, but don't spout lies to back that opinion up. Miami Vice was not a critical(65 on metacritic), nor even a box-office failure(at least if you could worldwide numbers, 160+ million).

Have some sense.

The Black Dahlia was the worst. Here's my rating for them:

X-3 7.5 / 10
Superman Returns 8 / 10
The Black Dahlia 2.5 / 10
The Departed (the best of them) 10 / 10
Borat 9 / 10
Casino Royale 9.5 / 10

yah it was really liked. Its imdb score is a 6.1 by the way and considering that movies that people commonly dislike score in the 7's thats not that great. And in my rotten tomatoes screen you will see that both users and critics did not enjoy this movie at all. I used some sense and pulled off some great lines for you from respected critics. By the way the reason i posted that particular imdb review is that 211 people agreed.

"Characters gather in really cool places (million-dollar apartments, speedboats, South American warehouses, etc.), look really serious and read expository dialogue in a low murmur."

The worst news about Miami Vice is that Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, replacing Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas in the key roles, don't hold a candle, a flashlight, a freakin' match to the original guys.

Perhaps had they been given a script, a purpose or a mission, Miami Vice the movie might have been something worthy of the talented Mann's attention.

and if you think im just pulling negative ones to make my point then all i have to say is only 48 percent were positive and they are barely positive meaning that for negative reviews i had a large choice. Within the user reviews comments along the lines of the movie is a shell of the greatness the show was is quite common.

Xmen 3 was not a critical dissapointment. Did you like that movie?

Yah for you to say that it wasnt a critical dissapointment is irrelavent to this thread.

As i said in my post, it is not the worst movie in quality but all the dissapointment within a film that had countless resources makes it worst in my books.

I'm not trying to start a fight, but ur comment made me look like a fool, when i had done some research before making my claim.

Michael mann is one of my fave directors by the way.

Miami Vice certainly isn't the worst movie of the year. I've seen quite a few films that are much worse than Miami Vice. Coming from Michael Mann, Miami Vice is disappointing. Sure, it's nothing like Collateral or Heat, but it is a good action flick.

I doubt I've seen the actual worst movie of 2006 but of the movies that I have seen, X-Men: The Last Stand is probably the worst.

Date Movie
Eragon
John Tucker Must Die
Black Christmas

Absolutely dumb anyone listing POTC 2, X3 or SR as the worst movies of the year obviously didn't see alot of movies this year. :o

This year I've seen...

Scary Movie 4
Clerks 2
V for Vendetta
Superman Returns
X-Men 3
Little Miss Sunshine
The Departed
Miami Vice
Casnio Royale
Rocky Balboa
Half Nelson
Flags Of Our Fathers
Blood Diamond
HollywoodLand
The Prestige
The Queen

And I still say Superman Returns sucked! As well as X-3.

Tideland

I literally could not believe what Terry Gilliam wanted to pass for as an interesting comercial movie. I understand this project reignited his love for moviemaking but it was just... bad. No story, no characters, just a whole lot of creepy.

Well I pick up the movies Im going to see quite carefully and when dozens of reviewers say something is rubbish and it seems like rubbish to me I just dont go to it.
So the 2 movies I liked least were:
1)The Da Vinci Code:
I quite liked the book, it is a great page-turner but the movie was just T.E.R.R.I.B.L.E. Lacks both real plot and decent acting - the only exception is Ian McKellen IMO
2) X-Men 3
a BIG disappointment. Singer shoulda stuck to the series.

prolly because it was too adult for you.... go wathc Bad Boys... and jack off to the explosions.....

Worst movies this year: Tideland and Home of the Brave. These are the absolute worst... probably the worst ones of the last 5 or 10 years.

As for other really bad crap: Van Wilder 2, Flushed Away, Feast, Pulse, and Harsh Times were all terrible! And I mean really really bad!!

Historical controversy aside, I thought the movie was brilliantly done.

But hey, I may be alone in this.

While I wont go as far as to use the word "brilliant," DaVinci Code kept me entertained so much that I'm still confused as to where the hate is from.

I'm the biggest superman Movie fan you'll ever meet, and even I say it was a let down, but since i can tell by the traile rif a movie is gonna blow, i dont see bad movies.

I didnt want to see Lady in the water, but it was at the ghetto theatre for $1.50 and my friends really wante dto see it and they paid for my ticket.

Lady in the Water is the worst movie of the year.

POTC was so good that I bought #2 on dvd without thinking, and it put me to sleep. still havent seen the end.

I dare anyone to tell me that Bloodrayne isn't the worst film of the year.
