School has to be your life until you graduate, and I honestly don't know how that totally prepares you for the real world.

Your teachers/coaches give you the stuff you need to work on and tell you how to do it, once your out of high school, you're on your own. Probably why going to college is so important.

I go and make myself busy during the summer because I have to, and then when school pops in, my life changes.

Happens every year.

Hey, I luckily didn't have to wear a uniform since I went to a public school. However, I can't say that this isn't entirely a bad idea (it puts everyone on the same level in a way). There can be way too many people putting eachother down over self-image. That being said, the thing I hated most/yet look back and miss (like the thread starter described) is the youthful immaturity you see in High School. It's something I kind of miss in way. So, if anyone here's in High School, enjoy it while you can. Just remember:

God made the idiot for paractice and then he made the schoolboard.

The only time I got picked on was in the 10th grade in my gym glass this punk who had his locker next to mine didn't seem to like me. I didn't make of it since that was the only class I had him in.

One other thing I'd like to comment on (since my last post got too damn long) is that it takes a special sort of person to be a teacher. I'd be too impatient and irritable working 8 hour days in a job like that. In my view there are 2 main categories of teachers:
-The "cool" ones that form relationships or talk with students.
-The socially encumbered and/or rigid authoritarian.

Once you start teaching, I don't think a lot of people think about what category they'd like to fall under. It is often times the student body (or rigors of the job) that shape the type of person a teacher'll become in the future. Any serious teacher'll want to get the respect/attention of thier classroom. If they are socially encumbered and/or rigid authoritian, they'll oftentimes rely on a rigid curriculem structure to interact with the classroom. However, those with a dynamic/charismatic personality will use their leadership ability and look for open input from the classroom.

If someone isn't able to achieve relationships easily or get open input from the classroom, sometimes frustration/burnout will result in the later years. I've seen too many teachers who get overly frustrated/angry with students thinking that kids are increasingly disrespectful/full of conceit these days. Just look at the principal on the Breakfast Club for an easy example.

I only made it to my freshman year in high school (dropped out in '97, got my GED in '00), but to me the worst experience was being the school punching bag (I was constantly bullied for many of my educational years). However, there is one thing I miss about never having graduated properly: I always wanted to attend my senior prom.

Yeah, I remember having a math teacher/head football coach who was like that. Although he could be kind of an ******* and control the fun part whenever he wanted, yet the students still respected/looked up to him since he was sociable and had leadership qualities.

The bullying was only one reason; I was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy at 14, and clinical depression at 15. The resulting stress caused my mother to remove both my sister and me from public school.
