Sequels Would you change Spidey's costume???

Here's my unfinished sketch of the Ben Reilly costume. I'll get around to doing a fully colored one soon. I'm going to give him the raised webbing, but it'll be darker than in the film. And I might change the boots around a little.

Funny, this discussion.

Thing about spidey is when Ditko first drew him 40+ years ago Stan went "That's it". Spidey has the definete distinction of having had many costume changes in his career, but always retuning to the origional red and blue. what other super hero can say that? Ok gratned there have been minor tweqaks to the old red and blue costume, but it's for the majority remained the same.

People like that costume. It's instantly identifiable. it's him. No change needed.

I'd make minor tweaks.

1.)Make the webbing jet black instead of silver
2.)Darken the blue to the point where it's almost black and increase the saturation of the red
3.)Make the spider emblems and eyes less angular and more rounded (Something along the lines of how he looked in Marvels would be PERFECT)
4.)Eye lenses are reflective silver instead of plain white

Can someone make a manip of this, please?

See, I think the silver webbing is sooo much better than the black. The black webbing would look really flat on screen; The silver is vibrant and makes Spidey come alive more.

Just my opinion....darkening the costume would dull the visual spectacle of Spider-Man.

It's funny...I've said many times that they've made changes every movie (75 minute changes on the last movie alone). Each time they pat themselves on the back on the DVD extras, for what is essentially, getting closer to the original costume. Which is what they should have been doing from the beginning.

I also like what The Amazing Spider-Man says about the more rounded spider on the back. And points 1 and 3 from Orko is King.

The problem with making major changes to the costume would be the lack of flow from the original trilogy to whatever comes next. We are already looking at getting major cast changes, so to change the one thing that could bind the next movie(s) to the original three would be stepping on thin ice. I would vouch for keeping the costume very close to what we have already, then maybe change it in any subsequent movies.

Here's my Ben Reilly costume pic so far. I just need to color it and add the bakround.

the suit is pretty much perfect but if I were to make minor changes I'd round the eyes a little currently they are angular and I darken the silver webs (not make them jet black) but other than that its fine in fact forget my suggestions the suit is perfect LOL!:woot:

The funny thing is that the webs are not silver more like a reflective dark grey. They appear silver because of the reflecting light. Reflecting light is the only way to add depth to something black.

Also spiderman should never change suit unless he plans to destroy it or he himself isnt wearing it.

My ideal suit would be Ben Reily's- which I feel is a nice update to the classic we're accustomed to.

Only thing is I'd change to the Reilly suit is make the parts that are blue to black. I just thought the black made Spidey look sharper in SM3.

I always thought the Spider-Ben suit was about the only costume change that looked better than the original. I vote for the Spider-Ben suit. I have a feeling we're gonna get that version.

They might as well do a varient to it...

all that is really required is for his costume to get completely destroyed and for him to need to add some sort of hardening device to his webbing for a given purpose and hence the webshooters on the oustide.

such an idea would be perfect for a sandman film but they completely missed the boat with that.

Still have some more work to do on it...

Theres absolutely no need to change the customes at all. Its perfect.

I've always liked Spider Ben's costume myself. But there really is no need for it.

Especially since a costume change would just feel like a gimick again. We already got the whole red suit black suit thing.

And besides he seems to barely wear it anymore anyway. Which stinks in a way since I always liked the fact that he had problems with the suit in the comics. I mean where is the scene of him struggling to sew it together again, it only gets shredded every time.

Keep the suit the same, just continue to tweak it. I personally like the movie back spider design better than the round comic one. It looks more badass.

After working on this pic for a while, I really think if they ever did change Spidey's costume, the Ben Reilly suit would be a pretty good choice.

you should be posting your art in a fan art thread.

It's there, just check the link in my signature.

And even if they do decide to keep Spider_man's costume the same in the enivatable fourth, I hope the fabric is just at least a little softer looking. Whenever I watch any of the films, he looks as if any sudden movement would tear a hole in his costume. It just looks so stiff. And I don't think having the costume go directly from his chin to his chest helps. The suit shouldn't be a one-piece. If the man is wearing a mask, make it look like a mask.
