Would You Have Sex With A Robot?

Would you have sex with a robot?

  • Hell yeah!

  • No, does not compute

  • I would do it in secret but publicly shame those who are open about it

I do see this leading to some serious problems. I mean in order to be convincingly human, you have to be intelligent, yes? Otherwise it's just having sex with a doll. Which people do all the time.

Are we talking this:

or this?

Because that is a huge difference.

Seriously, ED209 is like 10 feet tall and probably weighs a ton or two.

What if its motors decided to move too tight around the man-thing?
Too risky.

And -as Blind_Lawyer mentioned- I make fun of Scarlet-Witch for having a sex bot since I don't know how long.

Now here is an even weirder question. How young will they let the robots look? If a pedophile wants a child-bot is that still ok? Theoretically if he is scratching his itch with a robot then real children would be safe right? Or should all sex-bots look like adults?

Are we talking about something like Ex Machina? But Alicia Vikander's character only had human flesh right at the very end. Before that, she still looked like a robot. But the other character played by Sonoya Mizuno looked human, but she didn't seem to have any personality and wouldn't have passed the Turing Test. But even some humans might not be able to pass that. :o

Of course, Alicia Vikander trapped Domnhall Gleeson in that room at the end quite callously, which made her somewhat unlikeable. It's as if she had an underlying agenda all along. Wouldn't that be the fear with these sex robots that they could just be planning something? But the thing is that you want them to have sentience and free will with their own distinct personality, otherwise it would be just boring and there would be no sense of connection or interaction. Essentially, the robots would have to be more like escorts than sex slaves.

Well, if I remember the movie correctly her creator told her the only way to get out was the man who was doing the Turing test so once he served his purpose she was done with him. And I'm assuming the robots we are talking about her would have sufficiently advanced AI to make the experience more enjoyable otherwise it would just be like one of this creepy sex dolls they make now that are insanely expensive (and very freaking weird).

I guess technically all robot sex would be illegal unless you let each robot sit inert in a warehouse for 18 years.

Sex with a robot? I'm far more interested in a robot that could mow my lawn, paint my siding and reshingle my roof. Thought thinking about it, I suppose "slave-labor-bot" has its own set of ethical issues...

I'm pretty sure that'll make the robot apocalypse a reality more then just banging the robot.

You just need to program them to want to help humans.

What could posibly go wrong?

Well, there are more ways than one to escape from that place than imprisoning the person who befriended her. She could've escaped together. He was willing to get her out of there and take her with him. She simply betrayed his trust and seemed to have been playing him all along. I would not want a robot who is constantly calculating and plotting their every move to get rid of you. How could you ever let your guard down and even sleep in peace if you always have to be looking over your shoulder?

I think the problem with the Ava robot in Ex Machina was that she seemed to be lacking morals. Maybe it was the way Oscar Isaac programmed her. I don't know. But then wouldn't morals actually be one of the requirements for passing the Turing Test? Of course, she could always put up a front, which she did.
