My only thought was that each city is going to have different puzzles that are designed for that city specifically. It might be a good idea to assign certain oracles to new cities if the city they are signed up for it over loaded though.

As for dwelling on the past, you're right... but what if, even once, we have to remember what happened in the past and are unable to. I think it's a good idea to be able to scroll up but keep in mind that it's not a good idea to do so unless absolutely necessary.

With the number of Oracles we have, someone will remember. We can scroll up somewhat. It's unnecessary to have to see EVERYTHING on the screen, for one; if we did that, we'd never get anywhere. For another, say we do manage 12 Oracles for Chicago...reading what 12 people are saying, especially when they're likely to be repeating the same thing, is NOT going to overtax a chat room. Chaotic or not, 12 people in a chat is not going to go so fast that we're going to have to start opening up our chat logs. The point of the chat is so that instead of going back and doing it Holmes style, we can just ask the other Oracles. With 6-12 people, SOMEONE will remember.

I will be bringing some Joker face paint left over from Halloween, I think my brother in Colorado will be my oracle, since there are none of these going on near him. I also think that if all of the SHH members are traveling together, and that they don't split the group up with the clues, then being short one or two oracles won't be the end of the world.

alright cool, make sure he gets in on the chicago chat room, we'll get you details once it's all worked out.

If you can secure a Chicago only chat room, then I guess go ahead and set it up. But so far there seems to be a consensus for AIM.

I personally still think AIM is a better choice so we can scroll back and won't have random people logging in and asking questions during important times. But that being said, I'm flexible if there is a better option.

Also, the Speakeasy has the ability to have separate rooms created within themselves. Not only that, but you can lock them so that only people with the password can get in. If locked, you wouldn't have a whole bunch of people coming in and asking what's going on. You probably would in the main Speakeasy chat, but that's what it's for. I've sent nerium a PM to see if there's a max number of rooms you can create within the Speakeasy or if too many people would crash it.

As for scrolling back, right now it's 5:57, and with seven people in the chat, I can see all the way back to 5:42. That's 15 minutes in the past. Sure it'll be going faster, but the number of Oracles per room will not be much more and we'll know what's going on. If there are, say, 12 of us, or even 6 as there are now, we're not all going to spontaneously forget what just happened like we're in Memento.

If you can set up a password protected room in speak easy for Chicago peeps, please do so now and give the password to the oracles listed on the front page, or PM me the password and I'll spread it around. If it is as simple as you say I think it's a good solution and we can always share existing IM info as a back up.

Thank you very much for figuring all this out! :woot:

Oh! Additionally, if someone gets booted or is running late, they can enter the Speakeasy main room, PM someone in the proper room, and get invited. Easy peasy--no AIM clients or specific screen names required.

Oh! And additionally, to your last comment, it's not a problem. I'm eager to help. Seriously, don't worry yourself over the Oracles. You're ground crew and you're doing a ton to organize there, so I think the least we the Oracles can do is the same for the Oracle crew. It's gonna be awesome.

Might I just say that I am so excited for this. I cannot wait!

At the last scavenger hunt they gave out prizes at each check point, I wonder what they will do this time?

Yup, I'm really looking forward to this!

For anyone who hasn't been following the viral very long, whether you're a goon, an oracle, of just a lurker I suggest you check out the wiki on the San Diego hunt from last summer for a hint as to what the hunt might be like!

man I was planning to sleep in super later to better prepare for the midnight release of GTA4, but now this all comes up.

So in other words ill be playing GTA4 all night while having my comp next to me constantly loop the new trailer lol.

I don't live in Chicago but I plan on being home in Michigan on Monday afternoon until 10 pm. So that being said, I'd like to help. AIM is in my profile.

Talk to Andrizzle about being an Oracle and being assigned a goon.

Alright, so far all but three of the goons have been assigned oracles, we're almost there!

Andrizzle - Can we have a list of who is going to be a goon at the Chicago site.

Just wondering of who is going to be a goon.

Here's what I look like.

I'm putting together a contact list with SNs, real names, discriptions and numbers

In the meantime, there is a list of goons in the first post

just throwing this out there:

I'm not sure if i will have an operational phone when the event happens, but i am willing to be a chicago oracle. i live in Denver, CO, but i was born in Chicago, and raised in Rockford. i have some fair knowledge about Chicago history, and can easily dig up more.

i should be at my house well before the countdown ends Monday, i can have any messenger/mail/etc, running at one time. i will know early monday if i will have a phone available, or if i have to message/mail/whatever someone for the answers.

if it would be too much of a risk and a hindrance, i will politely abstain. but i want to help.

Go team SHH!

We have 18 goons and growing! I cannot wait for this to happen. Right now I am scoping out parking spots that are near by.

I'm sure we'll be able to use you, even if you have a phone we might be able to use your knowledge in the oracle chat. PM cinemaque about helping out :yay:

Excellent... I feel that we're going to get everyone into the whatever it is we're doing. :)

also, fellow oracles, I do have a theory of what I refer to as, "the nuclear option". I'll explain it over PM if interested. (It's a longshot theory, but just in case)...

I'm a goon, but I am interested in this theory of yours.

So I just looked at the facebook page for this event and it seems that someone already got a Joker card with a special stamp on it in order for them to get into the theater at the end of the scavenger hunt. I have no idea how they go this already.

here is another pic, with a note that came with it. If you read it, it seems pretty legit. A press pass ticket maybe?
