God, I was obsessed with The X-Files when it originally aired. I just bought the DVD box for the sixth season - which many consider one of the weakest - and many episodes still hold up very well - particularly Milagro, Monday, Field Trip, How The Ghosts Stole Christmas, The Antinatural, Tithonus.

I like it the movie will be focused on a stand-alone. Back in the day the big selling point of the show was the mythology, but after some years it became too big and confusing - no wonder Lost won´t do more than six seasons - and now the best stuff is the stand-alones you can watch in any order and are cool in themselves.

yesterday I saw X-Cops. Brilliant.
 
I am slowly putting together an X Files collection as well, season by season. I only have four more to go to have the complete set. Of course I skipped around, and bought most of mine on Amazon. I got the slim sets, I am not big into those extra bonus DVD footage.

I saw the 40 second wondercon trailer and it looks pretty decent, I can't wait for a full official trailer....
 
What the hell is the story to this one..

BTW, here´s an idea: if they succeed in resurrecting the franchise for the movies, they should go and do for The X-Files something in the same vein as Animatrix or the new Batman: Gotham Knight DVD, that is, animated shorts that explore the XF universe with different visual styles and give them a chance to tell cool XF stories that maybe they couldn´t back in the original series due to TV budget restraints, etc. Looking at Animatrix and BGK I can totally imagine XF being done in that style.
 
It's not really a trailer, and it's in pretty terrible quality already. You probably won't be able to make anything out on an iPod.

Have they said what movie the new trailer is gonna play with?
 
As far as premiering a teaser, it seems like slim pickings for Fox movies with which to do it. Maybe The Rocker on April 18 with Rainn Wilson would be okay. As for premiering a full trailer, again, it's tough to say. The best (only) Fox vehicle for that seems like Meet Dave on May 23, with a second trailer premiering with The Happening on June 13.

Thanks for the info. Doesn´t look like they have much to work with, but then again some trailers don´t necessarily play with movies from the same studio.
 
Yeah, I was gonna add that point, and movies from other studios which could carry the trailers, but I was already late for class. However, a couple of things make me think that we'll see trailers premiering with Fox movies.

1) Weak lineup from March to June. Fox might want to pull every gimmick they can to draw people to see their movies. The Rocker is independent, Eddie Murphy's Meet Dave has the ghosts of Pluto Nash and Norbit to contend with, so big trailers would be enough to fill a few seats in those movies. The Happening has roughly a similar demographic as X Files, so a trailer with that movie is given.

2) Budget. If the production budget is any indication, the marketing might be fast and furious in the final months leading up to the movie, but efficient with money. It is in Fox's best interests to use their own movies to premier trailers to save a dime. Word-of-mouth until April or mid-May, then trailers, tie-ins, and other promos in May and June. We see this happening with Indy 4, and it seems to be working to create a lot of buzz and curiosity for that movie. As of now, Fox seems to be following that model.
 
Anyone think FOX could premiere a Teaser Trailer around the Season Finale of Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles?

I hadn't thought of that. They might need to cause I don't see that show lasting very long.

SHUTTER is released on March 21. It shared the Fox panel with The X-Files 2 at WonderCon. Note that The X-Files film is due to finish filming on March 10. Would that be enough time for a teaser to be cut?
 
Yeah, I guess Shutter might be a good movie with which to premier a teaser. The movie doesn't look very good, though. It's just the same as everything else coming out now.
 
If shooting will be done by march and the movie will be released on summer, we can guess it won´t be heavy on post-production and visual FX, which implies it doesn´t have a big budget. But then again, the visual FX were never the prime selling point of TXF. Not having a very big budget will make it easier for it to turn a profit and get a sequel, I believe.

this is a 2 hour X-files episode.
 
i thought the budget is like 30 million
