Days of Future Past X-Men: Days of Future Past on DVD/BLU-RAY

I hated that there was no DVD/blu-Ray/digital combo ):
I was thinking the same thing as I was searching at Target for one, I know not having a combo pack isn't such a big deal for some but I still use my portable DVD player when I travel so I still need a DVD disc for all my movies.

But they still released a DVD of it. So if you want to watch the film using your portable DVD player, just buy the DVD version and for a DVD coming out in 2014, they still added a few special features like the Deleted Scenes, Gag Reel, Trailers, a gallery and an exclusive sneak peak to Exodus: Gods and Kings.

Which in and of itself is a issue

Yeah, I picked up the blu ray from Target tonight and I watched it for the second time. I just can't get past the many issues I have with the Singer movies. The ending with all the X-Men finally together is so bittersweet knowing we'll never actually see that group go out as a team. I would much rather see a proper X-Men film where the old cast of Stewart, Mardsen, Grammer, Famke, etc. go out and fight Apocalypse rather than more Jennifer Lawrence/Mystique nonsense that I'm sure we'll get in the next one.

Well I don't think that is the send - off to the OT cast. Like I just don't see them setting all the X-Men movies in the past (especially for a movie series that started in the not-so-distant future). The return of the OT cast helped DOFP to become a big success and definitely helped the series to bring back some of the interest of the public that was lost before.

Yeah it's really annoying. Most movies are starting to do that, I suppose it only was a matter of time.

I really like this cover. Where can I find this version?

I was kinda shocked they changed the Deluxe edition cover from the poster to the one we have now

If anyone knows where or has seen fan made Blu-Ray covers for this, I really want one. The Ultimate Edition has a great cover, but the spine of the Blu-Ray looks awful. With Mystique and Logan's faces on it. Why couldn't they make the Title on the spine look the same as the rest of the series so when they line up on a shelf they actually look like they belong together?

I made some :D I have the target metal back but I might buy some loose discs to print the first cover lol. I could also try making you a custom one if you'd like

Target metal pack version :D Took some liberties with the back though

This was the best I could do to edit the spine of the Ultimate Edition.

I don't have hi-res art for the back of the box -- if anyone has, I'd appreciate it to make it look more professional.

I believe a steelbook is the metal case that contains the regular DVD/Blu-ray (regular case and all) where as a metalpak is actually the case itself (so you open it up and there are the discs).

No I have TDK trilogy on steel book of each movie. It's definitely not a shell containing the normal case. I think steelbook and metalpak are just two brands that produce tin cases for movies. (Tin!)

No offence but what even did you edit?

The cover's spine. All the spines on the covers released so far suck. They look nothing like the rest of the series and have photos of either Old and Young Xavier or Wolverine and Mystique. And the "X-Men" logo is really small on all of them and it looks out of place when lined up with the rest of the franchise films. My version looks more in line with the Blu Rays released for the original trilogy.

Example of the official cover in the link.

Any aussies buy their copy from JBHIFI? They have the bluray/3D/Digital combo and it has chose your cover collector cards. 23 of them. I got it for $40.

How are the special features for this release? Best Buy has the blu ray/ dvd copy for 17 bucks and I was thinking about buying it. But I HATE double dipping and since I know there is a extend cut coming next year, I am trying to decide. BTW anyone remember the X Men 3 DVD release were there was a mistake and some of the DVD's had a ton of extra deleted scenes Fox was trying to hold for a extended edition. I lucked out and got one of the DVD copies with those deleted scenes. It would have been cool if Fox made the same mistake and with this release and put the Rouge scenes on this release ha.

can you post a photos of the back cover? I want to see what other deleted sceenes there are!!

Also, there bare minimum but still interesting.
Deleted Scenes [with Optional Audio Commentary by Bryan Singer]
Kitchen Sequence
Gag Reel
Double Take: Xavier & Magneto
X-Men: Reunited
Classification: M
Sentinels: For a Secure Future
Gallery: Trask Industries
Theatrical Trailers
Second Screen App

I think I read the Rogue cut will have more indepth features.

The exclusive extras for bestbuy are cool. The trask file cards

I did that actually with XMFC since not many versions came in a combo that years later I just got the DVD for XMFC for cheap.

Yeah I was one of the unlucky ones to have the DVD with the errors, but FOX after many promises never got around to releasing a special edition but in the interim I've gotten the Bluray which is packed with extras.

I prefer this spine. I hate that picture used of Young Xavier staring back at me, it's just weird to me.

It's been a while since I've posted in the X-Forums...glad to be back...

I totally forgot to post my thoughts on this film because I got swept up in all the excitement of rewatching it.

DOFP is my best X-Men film, followed by First Class.

The characters, the creative action and cinematography, the music and story all sucked me in this fantastic time-travel experience.

I know there was some word on DVDs/Blus not working...I haven't watched mine yet...still going through my Marvel library...

...but I did check the Blu and it works...so I'm relieved. Didn't The Last Stand have issues with the DVD release. That's what I thought about hearing there might be issues with the DOFP release.

Is there an actual release date for the Rogue Cut or is everything speculation as far as the timeframe for release?
