Days of Future Past 'X-men: DOFP' Official CAST Thread (announcements and discussion) - Part 1

If Singer isn't ignoring any of the films, this doesn't work. Jean Grey isn't recruited until later, and Trachtenberg is too old to play her. As for Rachel Summers, she can't be the daughter of Cyclops and Jean Grey because both are dead. Like I said before, she could be Rachel, the telepath and telekinetic, but she can't be Rachel Summers... unless Rachel Summers is capable of time travel and is from another reality altogether.

you didnt read one of my previous posts right?

- Rachel appeared on the comics once Jean was dead, and it was on an alternate reality.

- Singer hasnt revealed if the future scenes are part of same timeline or not. That would be kind of a spoiler, so he wouldnt reveal something like that so soon

No. There's no confirmation. She and Singer have simply started following each other on Twitter.

Oh, okay. Well this might not necessarily mean that she'll be involved in DOFP. It's possible, yes, but not everything Singer does (and not every person he meets) is necessarily connected to his current movie. :funny: Or maybe she'll be playing Dazzler for real this time. :oldrazz:

What has started this buzz is we know they are filming the movie now so pretty much singer is in xmen mode

I think it's a safe bet to say that they are indeed a part of the same timeline. He said it himself that this is partially a sequel to X3, he brought back the ones that lived at the end of X3, and specifically said he thanks Brett Ratner for letting them live in X3.

Bryan has already hinted at future scenes taking place post Last Stand.

Michelle Is more likely to be playing young jean grey than Rachel. They are filming future scenes now.

Aren't we beyond this with the whole, "Thanks for keeping them alive" and "this is a sequel to both movies" quotes???

Exactly.

Plus if this film involves 1973, the original post X3 timeline, the altered dystopian timeline, then an all new timeline with "**** fixed" at the end, then it's an awful of time and narrative jumping.

Not that it couldn't happen, of course, but like you, taking Bryan's comments so far into account, I still think the dystopian future is simply the same post-X3 timeline, a few years later.

Singer could easily play with fans speculation with comments like that.

He has suggested on some interviews that this movie could deal with various time periods and he has dicussed with James Cameron about multiverses....

we really dont have any idea how he will play with all this stuff. And if there will be just one only travel or two.

The script could have some surprises changes from the comics storyarc.

In fact, thats the very first thing he said back on August: the movie will be inspired on Days of future past but will have new things.

we dont know what that New stuff will be, so everything is possible

Well this is a neat way to back up your argument, but that's not enough to suggest that he would go through this whole thing of misleading fans into thinking that this is a sequel to X3, just to introduce the daughter of Scott and Jean who can't possibly exist otherwise... New stuff might refer to things like Sentinels and stuff that hasn't yet been seen in an X-Men film.

Who knows maybe singer will be creative and time travel taking wolverine or xavier to the lake where jean killed Scott just as she rises infront of Scott so they can change what happened there, save jean and Scott

Very doubtful but would be interesting

If Michelle is in the movie, and has red hair for the role, it has to be either young Jean, or Rachel, or Hope Summers, or Scarlet Witch.

Since Rachel usually (but not always) has short hair, that makes it slightly less likely she is playing Rachel.

I'm veering towards Hope Summers, if indeed Trachtenberg is in this film.

I just read up on Hope Summers on Wiki. There Is nothing they could do with her that wouldn't piss people who know the character of Hope Summers off.

I just think It has to be jean.A young Jean Is one who would fit the story.

Plus we know they are working on future scenes since neither James Mcavoy or Jennifer Lawrence are In Montreal. And about all the OT actors confirmed for DOFP are.

Yeah, I assume it is post X3 and Wolverine but I don't think anyone has flat out confirmed it is. Just assumptions. We still know next to nothing on how they are going about this, I'm sure there will be surprises.

First of all, is she officially confirmed to star in DOFP? Second, she looks nothing, and I mean, NOTHING like Famke. I seriously doubt she'll be playing young Jean. And Rachel Summers... No.
She looks more like Famke than McAvoy looks like Patrick Stewart.

As for continuity issues... this movie is clearly playing around with time travel and probably alternate universes. Literally anything is possible at this point!

More to the point, if she's playing Jean in 1973, Jean is in her early 20's at least. Making Jean in her early 50's during the OT.

Eh if the kids on glee can play teens.... Mt certainly still can. But we also don't know if there will be a scene by the end of the film that might also show us a third time period. Its possible

Agree.

Im sure Singer will do unexpected twists with this time travel stuff. maybe during the movie or at the end, but he will do new things, I feel

I do like the Idea of Michelle Trachtenberg In a X-men film. And she and Bryan following each other Is too much to dismiss. That was first tipoff of daniel cudmore returning.

As a fan of Michelle since she played Dawn I would watch her appearances on Gossip Girl. She upstaged everyone else on show.I used to say If Michelle was made reguralar that
would have gotten me to regurly.

Out of speculation I think she would play young jean Grey. The future scenes are suspose to be post last Stand untill the efforts of time travel.Michelle could still pass as teenager.

Once Bryan Singer placed First Class In 1962 that was major clue of he retconning the trilogy of taking place In mid 1990's.Thus Bryan could Introduce the big 3(Jean,Cyclops,
Storm) In 1973 and laregly keep his films(X_Men,X2) Intact and time travel Is used an
excuse for rewriting things from Origins and Last Stand.

Plus Michelle playing Young Jean Is clue the future of films Is In altered present.

Oh lord your 90s crap again that's only "obvious" to you

Exactly. We have no idea on the timelines and settings, except for talk of the past being 1973.

Beyond that, it's all open to discussion and speculation.

The fact that we're two pages into a discussion about a rumor based on nothing...

haha, I kind of like the idea of her as Jean, even if she wouldnt have been my choice. But Id like to see a teenager Jean and Scott, just like original comics, which Im reading since last year. Id love to see all the stuff around them, with Charles, Hank, the school.... the battles.... would be pretty special
