X-Men - Part 3

I don't know, I read until the end of the Blink arc and he made absolutely no impact on me whatsoever, as if he wasn't even there.

And this from someone who LOVED Nate during his hey day. I was so stoked when I saw him return in Dark X-Men and then nothing. His raw power is what made his powerset interesting and his untrusting otherworldly point of view made him an interesting character period. DnA essentially stripped him of both of those. As of when I dropped the book after the Blink arc he comes accross as just another telepath.

That's why I haven't been reading New Mutants. He seems really boring now, and playing second fiddle in a fringe X-book. I really like him, and I was hoping he'd play up his shaman role, which could be interesting in these dark days for mutants.

To me that the best thing that could have happened to him. I think DnA have done a good job at making him a character I dont hate, which is how I felt about him in the past.

Just curious, how do they write him to make you like him? Is New Mutants worth reading?

I just remember him in the 90s very angry, impulsive and oftentimes a prick. He irked me big time and I also disliked him as yet another alternate reality Summers brat.

They've really dialed him down in NM and I can see why a fan wouldnt like it. His power levels are pretty weak. I mean Marvel Girla circa 60s weak. and Hope of all people has been training him in how to get by without powers. I do like his relationship with Dani though. Its pretty fun. She is pretty hard on him and he takes it. I dont know but I like their interactions. He's also developed a cool friendship with Sunspot.

I just think the New Mutants are in an awkward position. They should be folded into the official X-men and not kept separate. And I don't really like the idea of Cyclops' clean up team.

If the have to be kept separate from the X-men, I'd prefer it if they were Utopia's street team.

Um, they aren't being kept a secret. They're not X-Force or anything like it. Scott started them to essentially pick up on "hanging plots" of characters they feel like they need to help. Nate, Blink, etc. And the thing of keeping them "separate" was their own, not Scott's. And yes, they are official X-Men as well.

Agreed. They have a very clear purpose. One of the thnigs the X-men have been accused of for years is not taknig care of their own. Bishop was lost in space and they never went looking for him. Same for Rachel, Havok and Lorna recently. There are ALOT of loose ends in the X-world with forrmer members gone ignored and forgotten. The concept behind New Mutants is a solid one and its a surprise its taken this long for a team specific for this stuff was created

Then you are missing the point of the New Mutants which I explained above. The street team is set up for a compltely different reason. Scott's structure of the X-men currently its the best its been in years probably ever. Several subdivisions of the team, each with specific missions and its an effective way to delegate things

* I meant to say separate, not secret. Typo.

Ok maybe I'll check it out. You guys make it sound ok.

New Mutants is awesome. It's not really about a team as much as it is about a family of friends.

Why is Magma still dating Mephisto? Like what the hell (no pun intended) is wrong with her?

Wait, magma's dating mephisto? Maybe she's secretly trying to seduce him into recreating Pete's marriage.....

She made some deal with him in an earlier story (I believe Fear Itself) and his conditions for helping the team was that she go on a date with him which happened a few months ago. In the most recent NM, she revealed that she's been seeing him since that one date in secret. I feel bad for Sunspot bc he's like in love with her

Here's the deal being made:

The date happened in this issue

That was a fun issue. Not exactly my interpretation of Mephisto, but fun.

Hmm. I don't know about this. Journey into Mystery is supposed to crossover with New Mutants in like a week, but I don't really have any interest whatsoever in New Mutants. I'm apprehensive.

The New Mutants need to make Elixir the next loose end they explore. Seriously the guy has been MIA since Necrosha and no one has mentioned him since. Hopefully things look up for him following his upcoming appearance in that flashback issue of Wolverine's title

Freakin' $5 Wolverine issue. I was so interested in it for Elixer to... but not now :(

You're right, where the hell has he been? Even freakin Loa turns up in WatXM every now and then.

This is what Kyle said in a 2010 interview

Now, he knows what Hope is, and that information isn't going away, but he gracefully left himself on Necrosha in the hopes of healing the remains of those who weren't devoured by Selene. Where he shows up next and how and who he'll be, well, that's anybody's guess. But let's hope he's a good guy still, because if he's not, it's going to really, really change up the Marvel Universe.

2 years later and he hasnt shown up. If he's on Necrosha tending to some of the resurrected mutants, then why hasnt anyone shown up? If there are some that survived, then that in and of itself is a major loose end to follow up on. I guess it doesnt matter considering this was just in an interview and since he didnt write it in the books, its not canon
