X-Men - Part 4

Please tell me that X-Force cover comes from some sort of alternate universe story.

Wolverine and Cyclops have switched places. Cyclops is edgy now, and Wolverine is a government man. Cyclops' story feels natural to me while Wolverine is just forced. I'd argue that Colossus is more interesting now than ever. His relationship with Magik is messed up.

I'm going to try out Uncanny X-force, mainly to support a title with so many female characters. Puck is random though...

Given their history, it'll be interesting to see how Betsy handles being on a team with Spiral

Just got to reading Wolverine & the X-Men, I don't think I've ever been so sad to read a comic like the one I just read

The Hellfire Club killed Broo the Brood. I loved him sooooo much. Jason Aaron is a bastard :cmad:
Oh okay. Is he really [blackout]dead though? We've seen fakeout cliffhangers before. I wouldnt count on things yet at least not till the next issue. I mean he is a brood. I can see him inhabiting another body as a way to survive. It would be fitting if he took over one of the Hellfire kids[/blackout]

[blackout]Cerebra confirmed his death and then showed a panel with his body with the bullet hole in his head[/blackout]

Kade blew a massive hole in his head, and we saw Broo's light go out on Cerebra.

[BLACKOUT]Id still wait till next issue. His "original" body may have been killed but there's still the possiility that he "jumped" into another, which wouldnt be immediately recognized. He's supposed to be a "mutant" brood so its possible Aaron may have a trick up his sleeve on how to come back from this[/BLACKOUT]

To be honest I'm a bit skeptical myself.

We did see those scenes in the future when they have to fight Evan. Broo has clearly evolved in those scenes and Quentin and Idie were a couple, something that was eluded to this issue. In Remender's final UXF arc, Evan is turning evil. Aaron and Remender made it no secret recently in interviews that they have worked closely with their stories.

This could also be the start of Broo's evolutionary next step, I've seen stuff like that from the Brood species in the past. Aaron is just f'ing with our emotions here. It worked too, it was one of the saddest moments I've seen in any comic since Warren's "demise" in the Dark Angel Saga.

I was so sure I was going to pass on this, but... I just love Puck so much...

I just noticed that it looks like Storm has some big flowy skirt or long trench coat or something.

Not a fan of the hair but the costume is a major upgrade from the Davis design she's been sporting the last several years. I hope it becomes her default

And just to delve further into what I originally said.......

When Starblood attacked the Jean Grey school it was to kill Broo because he was not as aggressive as a typical Broo and called him an evolutionary misstep. Perhaps Aaron was trying to say something more there....? It just doesn't make sense to me that he would put that out there only to make him a sacrificial lamb. Aaron knows that Broo is one of the most popular of the new students, I doubt he's that much of a sadist to kill him off without a true purpose behind it....just sayin'.

I don't think we know yet. All I've heard is that she's been pitched as a LA clubber drug dealer-type. Whatever that means.

I'm actually surprisingly excited for this title.
- A strong female cast.
- Mohawk storm (I like the Mohawk :p)
- Bishop coming back and being relevant (and hopefully eventually redeemed)
- Cool new redesigns.
- And it's being pitched as the mutants who just don't fit in with the normalized Uncanny Avengers image of mutants.

Lady Fantomex seems new, but that is Spiral, as well as Storm, Psylocke and Puck. With Bishop in the background.
Lady Fantomex is E.V.A I think who recently became a humaniod chick in Uncanny X-Force when Fantomex died.

Wolverine giving speeches about caring how mutants is precieved and protecting innocents is weird given that he talks about wanting to stab Cyclops to death or Wanda or Sabetooth everyother issue he show up in.

Wolverine is still a bloodthirsty killer.
WHy is Spiral on that team?
Someone at Marvel has a fetish for chicks with six arms

Only if you only read AvX and other poor characterizations for him.
If you focus on good stories where they progress the character, like UXF, Wolverine, and W&TXM, you'd see his developement makes a lot of sense.
Wolverine is still a killer, but could hardly be called bloodthirsty.
The Cyke and Wanda stuff is what's out of character, not his new attitude

You think? Heehee

Well this has emotionaly destroyed me. Man I loved Fantomex.
He still lives on with me, good 'ol Collector's Editions being 2 years behind. Just upset that with his inevitable death.

I have been reading all my X-Men stuff, trying for a chronological order.

Read New X-Men volumes 1-7, haven't read in years. Great stuff. Cassandra, Quentin, Weapon XV (and Fantomex!), the return of Magneto. Astonishing X-Men vol 1 and 2, Wolverine: Enemy of the State, and Evolution. Pheonix: End Song. Reading my issues of Astonishing, 13 to the Giant size finale. Then X-Men The End Part 1 and Old Man Logan.

Can't wait to read the end of Astonishing again. Need to pick up Pheonix Warsong and The End parts 2 and 3. I read my House of M stuff a while back, and skipped my early 90's books.

I am enjoying following Cyclop's arc, knowing what's in store for him in AvX. The Pheonix seeks out Cyclops in Endsong...maybe a bit of forshadow there. Any stories I should read between where my X-Collection stops and AvX begins?

Hope's saga is most pertinent to AvX. She makes her debut as a baby in Messiah Complex and she grows up in the future in Cable's series. Second Coming chronicles the story where she re-enters present day 616. She is featured in Uncanny with her most notable arc being The Five Lights. She becomes the lead character of Generation Hope, but I dont think its 100% necesary to read. You'll want to read Uncanny X-men v2, which is about the Extinction team, whom 5 of them eventually become the Phoenix 5. So the breakdown is:

Messiah Complex TPB
Cable v3 and/or Messiah War TPB
Second Coming TPB
Five Lights TPB
Generation Hope (maybe)
Uncanny X-men v2

Thats it for the X-men books. If you havent already, you'll want to get Avengers: Children's Crusade and X-Sanction. Both are preludes to AvX which set up the importance of Wanda and Hope respectively.
