I'm personally sick of AR Xmen. I feel as if that's been done to death in recent years

yeah but it just seems like we've had a lot of that in recent times. AoX, X-treme X-men, UXF's AoA, All New X-men, BoA. Im probably forgetting some in there

and none of the cool characters are sticking around. at least with the original AoA..we got AoA Blink, X-Man, and an AoA inspired redesign of Sunfire. plus Dark Beast, Sugar man and Holocaust...

There's too many of them now, it's all just hurting my brain. :( It's killing this crossover story for me, badly.

I agree. Days of Future Past was awesome because it hadn't really been done at that point. It was original and unique in the X-Men world and gave us not only a great story (in only 2 issue! Imagine that!!!) but it also gave us Rachel Gray.

Maybe because of the time between the two, I also really liked the Askani future with Cable... particularly depicted in The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix. That future gave us Cable (though he came first), Zero, Blaquesmith, Stryfe, etc.

While I liked the story with Bishop, Malcolm, Randall, and Fitzroy (and later Shard, Fixx, Archer, and Greystone)... that story was never really explored enough to give it legs.

Age of Apocalypse was handled very well and really made to feel like it mattered. It was a fantastic story that took a fairly unique direction in redoing every X-Character and made them relevant. It also proceeded to give us fantastic characters like Nate Grey, Blink, and Dark Beast.

Since then though, nothing is really that great. The stories feel like rehashes of Exiles or Age of Apocalypse, and no great characters come out of them. So nothing from the mid-90s to now has worked.

that alone makes it drop major points. She can not be cited as a plus to that story

Today's latest issue of BotA felt so slow. This story has major pacing issues as it doesn't feel like there's much story here. This probably could have been handled as a self contained arc within the pages of ANX and it feels as if they dragged other titles into it to make it longer and feel more impactful.

No, they did that so slobs like me will buy books I don't normally buy so I can keep this arc complete. :(

You're on crack. She's at least a better character and addition to the franchise than Emma Frost.

I agree. This could have been served better as a 4 issue arc of All New X-Men.

Introducting All-New X-Factor!

more PAD X-Factor....and it needed to start over WHY?

Ugh! I do love that Lorna and Gambit are on the lineup together and hope PAD finally pairs them up

Recaps of the full X-Men panel minus the Thunderbolts/Ghost Rider and She-Hulk sections for size and 'cause they're not X-Men :o :

Marvel Comics kicked off New York Comic Con 2013 in style, bringing the Amazing X-Men and Marvel Universe panel to the Big Apple, with panelists set to answer everything from "Battle of the Atom" to the upcoming new X-Men series "Amazing X-Men." Panelists include Marvel Senior Editor Nick Lowe, "X-Factor" writer Peter David, "Deadpool" scribe Gerry Duggan, writer of "Cable & X-Force" and "Avengers Arena" Dennis Hopeless, "Astonishing X-Men's" Marjorie Liu, "Thunderbolts" writer Charles Soule, "X-Men Legacy" writer Simon Spurrier, "X-Men" writer Brian Wood as well as editors Jeanine Schaefer, Daniel Ketchum and Jordan D. White.

The panel kicked off with Lowe, who served as moderator, saying Marvel just sent the last chapter of "Battle of the Atom" to the printer. "It's super fun to work on this crazy insane crossover," said Lowe, who said the panel was also to give fans an idea of the X-Books moving forward -- including the November-releasing "Amazing X-Men."

"This story is crazy," said Lowe. "it goes through all space/dimension insanity, but it is one of the most swashbuckling, dangerous adventures the X-Men have been on in a long time. Every arc is going to be an event, Jason Aaron and Ed McGuinness are in this for the long haul. [Ed] often tells me this is the book he's been waiting to draw his whole life. He's been bugging me about drawing Nightcrawler for years now."

Included in "Battle of the Atom" is "X-Men" by Brian Wood, who will be joined by Terry and Rachel Dodson in a new arc. "This is the Lady Deathstrike arc," said Wood. "I'm not going to say why she looks like she does, because you'll find out." Wood will also be adding Monet to his roster. "I think she was probably on my original list when we first started talking about this book. I wrote her when I wrote 'Generation X' a long time ago and she was always something I liked. Pairing her off with Jubilee makes for wisecracks and a lot of attitude." The arc will also set up some other things that aren't ready to announce yet.

The next arc of "Wolverine and the X-Men" will spin out of "Battle of the Atom," and one of the upcoming covers shows Wolverine cutting through the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo and other with Wolverine and Cyclops battling amongst Sentinels. Meanwhile, "All-New X-Men" following "Battle of the Atom" will be the book that is "most impacted" by the crossover. "We're going to have some big 'All-New X-Men' news for you at the end of the panel, but one character we'll tell you who is joining the book is X-23."

"Nick doesn't mind spoiling 'Avengers Arena' with that cover," joked Hopeless.

"Uncanny X-Men" was up next, and will continue to keep its current cast -- though "Uncanny X-Men" #14 will deal specifically with the consequences of "Battle of the Atom." "It's a very Benjamin and Emma Frost-centric issue," said Lowe. Issue #15.INH will be a tie-in to "Inhumanity" and what the release of the Terrigen Mists mean to mutants. The issue will also feature a new character debut that will, according to Lowe, "see fans throwing things at Brian Michael Bendis."

"Savage Wolverine" is current in an arc by Jock with the next by Phil Jimenez, and the series will continue the trend of one-arc stories from various creators with something to say about Wolverine. "You're never going to see Wolverine like this again," said Schaefer of Jock's arc. "With issue #12 and #13, Phil Jimenez is coming in to do an arc with Wolverine coming to Madripoor. He'll run into some old faces, some old friends, some old enemies -- you'll never read a Wolverine story like this again."

The end of Paul Cornell and Alan Davis' "Wolverine" arc, "Killable," hits in December. "It's the end of our huge Wolverine event," said Schaefer. "Wolverine has lost his healing factor, and Sabretooth [is behind it]. Will he get his healing factor back? Will he not? I know what you guys think because I read the Internet. But pick it up, I promise you that you will not see the end coming."

Spurrier's "X-Men Legacy" was up next, and Spurrier first thanked the audience for their support of the series. "Over those twenty episodes, which have been remarkably well-reviewed, I feel as though he's become an important and awesome character. I've fallen in love with him and all his secondary character," said Spurrier. "I think it's really interesting -- it's not like any of the other books that Marvel's putting out. It's now building to a big, climactic moment that we've been building to for a long time. I was hoping to announce something else today, but circumstances has conspired against us."

Gerry Duggan was on-hand to discuss his current run on "Deadpool" with co-writer Brian Posehn, saying the Merc with a Mouth is "in trouble, but has some friends." "We're wrapping up our first year of publishing, and we're having fun even though Wade is stuck in North Korea. He's got Wolverine and Captain America to help him out of a real jam," said Duggan. "We're playing a long game. We are plotted a long ways out and there's going to be some real consequences out of 19 that change Deadpool. I know you hear that on panels a lot, but it's true. His life is changing." "Deadpool" #19 will be Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire's final issue. Issue #20 will be another inventory issue with art by Scott Koblish. "If you have any love for some KIrby Krackle, don't miss 'Deadpool' #20."

"Thrilling Adventure Hour" writers Ben Acker and Ben Blacker with Evan Shaner on art will take on "Deadpool Annual" #1. "It'll answer a question people have had since the beginning of the new series, which is, 'What happened to Deadpool's white caption boxes?'" said White.

Hopeless' "Cable and X-Force" and Sam Humphries' "Uncanny X-Force" will cross over in an event called "Vendetta."

"We knew when we had two X-Force titles that it would be cool to have one X-Force running into the other X-Force," said Ketchum. The four-issue crossover will take place over two issues of each series beginning in January. The villain in the crossover will be Stryfe.

Another X-Book coming down the line is "Longshot Saves the Marvel Universe." "Doctor McNinja" creator Christopher Hastings will take on the luckiest X-Man in a series that sees Longshot save the Marvel U in a way that only he can. "Longshot does not have a mullet in this comic," said White," but we decided it said a lot about his character that he would have that hairstyle, so we gave him a trendy modern hairstyle."

Marjorie Liu's "Astonishing X-Men" recently wrapped, and both Liu and Jeanine Schaefer discussed the run. "It was a great pleasure and honor to write the book," said Liu. "My goal setting out was to make the X-Men feel like real people and make the [characters] feel as real as possible. I had so much fun writing this book."

Bendis' "Trial" and "Judgement" teasers were up next -- and Lowe revealed "The Trial of Jean Grey," which sees "All-New X-Men" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" will cross over. Lowe confirmed the All-New X-Men will still be around following "Battle of the Atom." The arc will be six parts and three issues each in both "All-New X-Men" and "Guardians of the Galaxy." "In 'AvX,' the Phoenix was a big part of it. When the universe learns there's a Jean Grey, they come to Earth, they take Jean Grey by force back to Shandalar and she goes on trial," said Lowe. "The Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't like people getting too close to Earth. They take it upon themselves to [team-up] with the All-New X-Men to get Jean Grey." There are also some secret characters that Lowe isn't ready to reveal, but the All-New X-Men have connections in space. Stuart Immonen and Sara Pichelli will draw the crossover.

Next, the panel revealed "All-New X-Factor" by Peter David, which got some huge applause from the assembled audience. "First off, I want to say thank you all for coming," said David. "My work tends to be rooted in the real world, except for occasional battles about hell. I was looking at the real world and corporate present is just omnipresent. … I was also fascinated by Google. Google came out of nowhere and not only invented a brand new word, but is into so many other things -- they're looking at space travel, they're looking at curing cancer. I thought about it and I said, 'Why wouldn't a corporation get into superheroes?' That hasn't really happened where a corporation says, 'Superheroing is something we want to embark on.' I wound up creating Serval Incorporated."

Serval created the biggest search engine in the Marvel Internet. Mostly, they help people, but CEO and president Harrison Snow bought the name "X-Factor" off of Jamie Madrox, and brought Polaris onto the team in "X-Factor" #260. The two other members showing up in the first issue will be Quicksilver and Gambit. "It'll be fun for me, because I've never written Gambit," said David. "There will be two other members of the team. It's a fascinating endeavor and very different stories from what I was telling before."

With the panel opening up for questions, and David's first questioner asked him about his plans for Quicksilver in "All-New X-Men."

"Quicksilver's interesting because Gambit doesn't trust him any further than he can throw him," said David. "And he has reason to. … A lot of what I'm focusing on is his relationship with Polaris. She's his half-sister. I thought it would be interesting to play with that, while at the same time Gambit says, 'You can't trust him.'"

Other tidbits that came to light are that the secret of the Bamfs will come to light during Jason Aaron's "Amazing X-Men." There are plans for Juggernaut from a "writer not in this room." Liu said her next project will be "probably a novel" -- she just turned in her nineteenth novel. Finally, Lowe confirmed there are plans for Jamie Madrox.

After the rapid-fire panel session, the Amazing X-Men and Marvel Universe panel wrapped.

Official Description: X-fans cannot skip this panel! Hear about the future of the X-Universe, straight from editors and creators working on current (and future!) X- titles. Have questions about X-Men Battle of the Atom? Curious what mutantkind will look like following the crossover? Get a special look at Amazing X-Men, the brand new title that will resurrect a favorite mutant from years past! Plus, exciting All-New Marvel NOW news for the X-Universe and beyond! Panel will feature Senior Editor Nick Lowe, Peter David (X-Factor), Gerry Duggan (Deadpool), Dennis Hopeless (Cable and X-Force), Marjorie Liu (Astonishing X-Men), and Brian Wood (X-Men) and more!

Editor Nick Lowe introduced the panel, with Marjorie Liu, Brian Wood, Jeanine Schaefer, Peter David, Dennis Hopeless, Daniel Ketchum, Jordan White, Charles Soule, Simon Spurrier all up for the first big Marvel panel of the convention.

Lowe started by talking about Amazing X-Men, launching in November from Jason Aaron and Ed McGuinness. He said McGuinness has been begging to draw Nightcrawler for years. He teased that they’ll be journeying to heaven and hell to search for Nightcrawler.

Next was X-Men by Brian Wood, with a new arc featuring Terry Dodson on art, and Monet joining the team. He said "she was actually on my initial list, so I'm thrilled ot add her to the cast." Lowe added that he likes her "'tude" in a sufficiently 90s manner.

Wolverine and the X-Men will be dealing with S.H.I.E.L.D., and helping to reestablish the X-Men's connection to the larger Marvel Universe in the coming months.

A cover to All-New X-Men shows X-23, who is joining the cast, kissing a silhouetted character. Dennis Hopeless joked, "they don't mind spoiling Avengers Arena with that cover, but won't spoil "Battle of the Atom," I see how it is."

Uncanny X-Men will be dealing with the big Inhumanity explosion of new Inhumans, will have a character debut that "will have people throwing things at Bendis." After that is a Magneto spotlight issue that "can't be missed," said Lowe.

Savage Wolverine, which is now being used as a spotlight book for artists to write and draw their signature Wolverine story. Currently Jock is working on the book, then it's Phil Jimenez. Schaeffer says "you won't read a Wolverine story like these ever again."

Wolverine has a current arc called "Killable," which ends in December 2013. "Wolverine's been dealing with missing his healing factor," said Schaeffer. "Written by Paul Cornell, drawn by Alan Davis, he has mercenaries set upon him by Sabretooth, and this is the endgame, it's his final confrontation. Will he get his healing factor back, will he not? I know you all think you have the answer, but I promise you won't see the end coming."

X-Men Legacy brought Si Spurrier to the microphone, and he thanked fans for giving it a chance. "A really big thank you to those of you who have been brave enough to try a really different book. I've really fallen in love with this cast of characters. Keep an eye on the news, because there are big things coming up."

Deadpool was next, and Gerry Duggan said that “we’re playing a pretty long game, a pretty fun game. We are plotted out a long ways out, there’s gonna be some real consequences out of #19 that will change Deadpool. His life is changing.” #20 will be another "fake inventory issue" with Deadpool in the 60s, drawn by Scott Koblish.

Deadpool Annual #1 coming in November by Ben Acker, Ben Blacker, and Evan "Doc" Shaner. White said that it "will answer a question a lot of people have been asking: whatever happened to Deadpool's white caption boxes?"

Uncanny X-Force and Cable and X-Force will clash in January with a crossover "where Cable kicks the **** out of those imposters," said Hopeless. The crossover is called "Vendetta." The event will be weekly for the month of January, with two issues of each shipping that month. Stryfe returns and also gets into the mix with both teams.

Longshot Saves the Marvel Universe got some love from White, who said it's "a terrific series, and I hope people give it a chance."

A farewell to Astonishing X-Men followed, with Marjorie Liu talking about "the honor" of writing the book. "My goal setting out was to show the X-Men as real people. These are folks you could run into walking around the streets of New York. I had so much fun writing this book." Lowe pointed out a theme he loved in the book, that "it's best to be different," and Liu echoed, "If you're yourself, you'll find your family."

The "Wrath" teaser is for Richard Isanove, who is taking over Savage Wolverine with #14.NOW in January. It takes place in the 30s, with "everything you know and love for Wolverine, Vengeance, Betrayal, all that amazing stuff," said Schaeffer.

"Judgement" and "Trial" refer to "The Trial of Jean Grey," a crossover in All-New X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy starting in January. "This is the first time we're saying, the original X-Men will be sticking around after Battle of the Atom, but I can't tell you how." It's a six-issue story, three issues of each book.

In the story, the other races in the galaxy, including the Shi’ar decide that they should hold young Jean Grey on trial for the Phoenix’s crimes over the years. “I can’t wait until you get the interactions between the All-New X-Men and the Guardians.” There are also “surprise characters” and “Brian Bendis is firing on all cylinders on this.”

All-New X-Factor was the “Corporate” teaser with Peter David. It’s a “very different take on X-Factor,” Lowe teased. David thanked people for coming to an early panel. “My work tends to stay rooted in the real world, aside from occasional battles with hell. In the real world, the Corporate presence is everywhere. I thought about it, and why wouldn't a corporation get into a team of superheroes? So I created Serval Industries, a company that started out by creating the largest search engine in the Marvel Universe, and decides to create a superhero team. He bought the name X-Factor off Jamie Madrox, and is assembling a team. He brought Polaris on, and the two other members in issue 1 are Quicksilver and Gambit, which will be fun for me, cause I've never written Gambit! There are three other members of the team, but I am not allowed to tell you yet."

A rapid-fire fan Q&A teased an upcoming announcement for Iron Fist, talked about the younger mutants, which Lowe said he likes the newer young mutants but misses the "New X-Men" cast too. "The thing that keeps us from doing a new book with them is money."

Wood noted that he "always tries to find ways to add some of those cool characters."

David said of his cast, “Quicksilver is interesting because Gambit doesn’t trust him as far as he can throw him. Nobody does. A lot of it is centering on his relationship with Polaris, his half-sister. We'll play with that, while Gambit is constantly saying "you can't trust him!""

The "secret of the BAMFs" will be answered in Amazing X-Men, Lowe promised "And the little red ones, too."

There are some current plans for Juggernaut by a "writer who is not in this room." Lowe said they're "very very big plans."

The last question was about Madrox, and David said, "I have no idea" what his deal is - Lowe promised there are plans.

Ugh! I do love that Lorna and Gambit are on the lineup together and hope PAD finally pairs them up
I know, right? I still remember that time Lorna was drooling over that Gambit stripper.... :p

I like the idea of Polaris, Quicksilver, and Gambit on a team, but I'm so bored of Peter David's X-Factor. Nothing that he's revealed about it is very interesting either save the line up. I just feel like, in my opinion, that David's X-Factor peaked years ago.

There are some current plans for Juggernaut by a "writer who is not in this room." Lowe said they're "very very big plans."

I think I vaguely remember something about Remender mentioning using him at some point.

Seriously how many times can Jean be held accountable for what happened in DPS? She went on trial in that story and paid with her life. The D'bari survivor came after her for justice in Claremont's Revolution run. The Shi'ar came after her when the Phoenix returned in End Song. The Death Commandos murdered her entire family. This is a story concept thats been overdone already. Now she has to go on trial for something that happened a hundred years ago (which this version had nothing to do with) And WTF. We just had AvX which showed that ANYONE can become Phoenix and a corrupted one at that. Its not like taking her out or whatever will prevent another DPS

It's not even the same Jean which makes it even more stupid. It sounds like one lame excuse for Bendis to crossover his two titles.

Man, as soon as Battle of the Atom is over, I'm done with X-Men for a while....maybe even for good. :(

couple interesting takeaways from that
I wonder who this character is that'll make fans "throw things" at Bendis... that guy's just a glutton for internet punishment aint he?
also the "you wont see the ending coming" for Wolverine still makes me uneasy.. he's already a low-powered hero, losing his healing factor for good makes him nearly useless on an Avengers level, really hope thats not it

Well maybe writers will finally write him back to using all his stealth and fighting skills like back in the Claremont/Dark Phoenix/Wolverine vs. the Hellfire Club-days, instead of just charging face-first into every battle and taking 1000 bullets like he's been doing ever since his healing factor went into overdrive. That gets old.

I hope he finally comes to his senses throws out his avengers card and reconciles with Cyclops. The X-Men need to be united once again, and that cannot happen so long as Wolverine is still fighting along side those who destroyed Utopia while splitting the phoenix subjecting people who were not supposed to have it to the phoenix. Wolverine needs to realize that he is a total hypocrite and that Cyclops was right and deserved his support, perhaps if he had supported cyclops from the beginning the Pheonix would never have been split, and xavier would still be alive. Wolverine is to blame, if he hadn't lied to Captian America about what the pheonix was, than AvX might not have been so stupid!

But AvX was stupid and the writers were to blame. One second Wolverine is fighting Cyclops over the use of the kids in Schism then the next minute he ignores Cap's orders, goes completely off the reservation and tries to kill Hope. It was completely contradictory to everything Wolverine had been doing for the prior year and somewhere along the line, Cyclops went from taking a more militant approach to becoming a complete megalomaniac.

The main villain in AvX wasn't the Phoenix Force - it was the Marvel brain trust.

^exactly

Wolverine's position was very understandable during Schism and on to W&TXM and ultimately Uncanny Avengers, it was only the ridiculously stupid way the avengers were written in AvX that made Cyclops somewhat more sympathetic

Having not read anything with Wolverine healing factor less, I'm a little confused. In the past didn't he lose his healing factor and start to die of Adamantiumpoisoning?
