Just be glad they haven't created the "next generation" of students yet...

No. That's like saying we should just be happy that it ain't OML in X-Men Blue but Jimmy Howlett. Yeah be happy!

X-Men Gold was garbage. The first issue had all the anti-Jewish artwork and issue two was filled with anti-Trump plot points. I hate to say it but after 25 years I just might be done with X-Men (and Marvel in general). They've been bad for 15 years or more and just can't help themselves to bring one-sided politics into their comics. I REALLY hoped that this new direction was something that could pull me back into their books but they've botched it right out the gate. I'll give it a little more time and hope it's just a passing issue or two, but we'll see.

They seem to love nothing more than creating new generations of X-Men who never actually become X-Men. And now they've even given up on that in favor of the O5...

It's the X books. If the various handling of themes of discrimination bother you, then yes, the X books may not be for you anymore. But, I think you need to ask yourself, when there are constant issues with the government having mutant killer robots, why something less drastic hits too home for you.

Maybe X-men Blue will be more up to your speed, so far Bunn is doing a great job.

Personally, based on the preview, I am looking forward to Jean's solo. And I am really liking her new costume.

It has nothing to do with discrimination. Heck, the issue itself had nothing to do with discrimination. It was speaking to the deportation of illegal immigrants which... wait for it... HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DISCRIMINATION!!!! The deportations is about following the law. Trump's enforcing the same laws that's been used by other presidents including Obama, Bush, and Clinton. But because he's Trump, it's a discrimination issue. But liberals, media, hollywood, and apparently Marvel just ignore the fact that Trump has never had anything against legal immigrants and encourage it (and is married to one). He's not even against all Muslims, doesn't deport legal Muslims, and didn't plan on banning all Muslims... just those that Obama had previously marked as dangerous. I don't care that X-Men cover discrimination. It's part of their make up. What irritates me is that Guggenheim, Waid, and others are using the X-Men and other characters to paint a narrative that Donald Trump is leading a rebellion of hate and racism which doesn't align with anything that's ACTUALLY happened since he announced his presidency. It's propaganda, it's irresponsible, and it's propagating hatred and discourse where it's not needed.

I'm reading it but have no opinion on it. I don't like the O5 for the most part and I'm fairly bored of Magneto. But I like Bunn and like seeing that the original Generation X will be touched on soon. I'd be excited for the actual Generation X title, but nothing screams Generation X more than Eye Boy and Deer Girl.

Except for the Wolverine clone (which was a creation from the cartoon series), Marvel failed to make a character that debuted from the 2000s up to this point, a superstar in the X-Men comics. Starting the new millennium. I thought they introduced so many students since they turned the mansion into a full time school. Then many of the X-Men members just came and went out. While the new break outs were just characters that already existed since the 80s like Emma and Magik. While Armor and Hope didn't have longevity and Marvel isn't using them regularly now. And now, 1/3 of the main X-Men are the o5 which are just younger versions of characters we already knew for decades. So the current state of X-Men comics is just meh. Too many legacy characters, too many events, too many gender/race swaps, too many relaunches.

I'm actually looking forward to Jean's book this week.

Jean Grey #1 is going to be the first book I buy as a physical copy, rather then a digital copy, in years!

Yep. I hate to support the O5's continued presence, but Jean Grey looks too good to pass up.

I may just check it out to see what Hope has been up to
Teen Jean can still eat one tho lol

I'm really surprised at the fact that I like Blue much better than Gold right now. The dynamic between Magneto and the O5 is certainly much more interesting than 'the new brotherhood' stuff. The flamin' puns were still equally cringe-worthy this week as well. Also pushing it a little with the ISIS reference. Though the 'show off' at the end was cool.

Bunn is a better writer than MG and Blue actually seems to be doing something new to push the characters forward as opposed to Gold which feels too much of a retread

Jean Grey wasnt the best ResurrXion #1 but it was good setup for the series. Love how Hopeless captures Jean and look forward to what he has in store once the plot gets moving

As a fan of both the X-Men and the Inhumans, these new solo books just don't interest me at all. I just looked at the pages.

I really enjoyed Bunn's Uncanny run, which sadly got cut short.

Yeah I have to agree with both of those things. I hope Gold at least tries to do some more unique things down the line. They really have to shake it up a bit.

I really enjoyed Jean Grey #1. I think I will stick with it.

I am glad that they didn't stretch out the current arc to 5 or 6 issues for Gold.

Jean Grey was terrific. It set up the premise, which we already knew, but I liked Jean's voice and the way Phoenix is haunting her.

God, Blue is so good. Bunn is hitting it on all cylinders. Good to see an old villian return and one I hadnt expected

The worst thing about Blue is the cover artist. Other than the switch of artist in the last couple pages, #3 was stellar. Exciting and intriguing.

Gold isn't half bad either.

Really liked the friendly sentinel angle and the whole 'working with mutants for now, to one day kill them off' stuff also worked for me. What is annoying me more and more though is that Angel so far has not had a single decent moment in any of these issues. Starting to wonder why he is even on the team, rather than the fact that he looks cool in wide shots.

I am also enjoying these little one book adventures. So used to the decompressed style of storytelling where you tell stories over 5-6 issues. Its refreshing. Obviously, Bunn will jump up to longer arcs, but I am hopeful he keeps these one shot kinds of stories.

Bunn is very clever in the way he uses one-and-done issues to advance the longer story he wants to tell.

Looking at the Iceman preview, it is nice to see his bulked up ice form again.
