X-Men - Part 8

there's 5 team titles and the only overlap is OML. Its not perfect but there are a bit of characters showcased across them. There's too many characters that simply would not be seen if there was just one book

Rogue is appearing in Rogue &Gambit, Astonishing and Phoenix Resurrection.
Gambit is appearing in Rogue&Gambit with Rogue but he's also dealing some stuff in Astonishing?
X-Men Gold team is supposed to be in the negative zone but they aren't in Phoenix Resurrection
Younger Jean Grey is time hopping along with the other younger versions, but four of them are in Phoenix Resurrection not time hopping.

These multiple books would only lead to more forgettable storylines, resurrections happen more often, while the little small role for the smaller characters that doesn't seem to lead to anything.

Rogue and Gambit are not team titles and its a mini series. I dont know why you are counting it.

Phoenix Resurrection is mini series. The X-line only has 5 team titles, Gold, Blue, Weapon X, Generation X and Astonishing. Gen X has been cancelled and we'll get Red

The Gold lineup has been in PR. I dont know why you say they arent

Mini series or not, Its not an excuse. I read most of these titles in the same week. In one issue, 1 character is about to get killed then in another issue, that character is doing something else. Eh.

Excuse for what? I think you are now arguing for a different point than what I was discussing with the books

Also, Astonishing should be ending at #12. It is a mini as well, if a bit longer than 6 issues.

Whatever is happening to those miniseries overlaps to whatever is happening to the regular titles and its not like those mini series is set in another continuity. IMO, that's a problem. As that undermines the other titles. Also Phoenix Resurrection is one of highest selling issues of Marvel in 2017. Its as Important as Gold and Blue. While Astonishing has better sales than Blue.

Yeah, I've surprisingly really enjoyed Ink in this arc of X-Men Gold, but the rest of it was completely forgettable. I'd say that Guggenheim needs off the title, but there's no such thing as writers on a title anymore. It's all a writer's title, and then another writer's different title. None of it feels like it matters really.

Well Gold is possibly ending soon. As for my 1Title only. This would be my line up;

Psylocke
Storm
Phoenix
Shadowcat
A c lister underused X-Man
Someone new
Iceman
Gambit

Then you'd have members like Cecilia (medic person), Forge/Sage (tech person) popping up in supporting roles.

I would have added Rogue but she's also appearing in Avengers. I am tired of seeing Wolverine clones so no Wolverine. No younger versions. I would like for Cyclops to be dead up until the mid 2020s. I think Professor X is resurrected way too soon and Phoenix's return completely overshadowed his return. Like Professor's death in Avx was a big deal and His return deserved more attention, sadly it didnt happen. So for that, I would leave him out of the picture. Nightcrawler, Colossus, Prestige, Emma, Beast, Magik... These mutants need a break from the team, like three of those appear once or twice in a while but I'd put them in hibernation and would only bring them back once they have to rejoin the team. While Colossus could have used the time off when he was turned into a horseman.

I would also like to see a bunch of new villains that would have an impact to the X-Men in the long run. I feel like they've been just recycling villains for quite some time now. If not, they turned aX-Man into a villain. And God, I don't want to see Mojo, Sinister, Apocalypse, a new rendition of the Hellfire/Brotherhood/Sentinels facing off the X-Men again.

Quality over quantity. I really don't know what to do with the younger generation. Like there's so many of them and it's just impossible to even service 1/4 of them IMO at this point without not using the bigger characters. Like if you utilize Hellion in Uncanny, the others like Elixir, Mercury, Surge, Kid Gladiator, Rock slide, Anole, Loa, Prodigy would still be in the background, so why bother saving that generation. Like I'd rather move on new potential X-man that we haven't seen before, that could be the new break out stars.

Mini series have ALWAYS existed. I really dont see the problem with Rogue and Gambit having their own duo mini while appearing in another title. And its not surprsing PR is the top seller. Event titles always do better than ongoing. Look at Secret Empire compared to the Avengers. Theres a reason why Marvel has moved towards that model to tell their big events.

I understand the need for even titles but in this case, Gold and Blue should have been tied in to PR. And now its like we have four sets of main X-Men stories happening at the same time and they aren't really connected. And I an not even mentioning the solos/spin offs.

Phoenix Resurrection
Negative Zone War
Life of X Act Ii
Cross Time Capers

And to me, Rogue & Gambit is just extraneous. Like its just something extra to read but I don't think it adds anything to the characters, like look at Deadpool & Gambit, what's the pay off of that title?

I do think PR could have worked like a classic crossover in the vein of Messiah Complex or Second Coming.

Jean Grey 8-10 - Psych War serves as the prologue

Phoenix #1 - introduced Jean's dream world and sets things up

X-men Blue, Gold, Weapon X and Generation X serve s the meat of the story

ANW, Cable and OML feature parallel side stories with smaller groups of characters

Phoenix #2 - serves as the epilogue that wraps things up and teases the new status quo

Unfortunately this leads to a problem that people complained about in the past in that crossovers derail titles and forces writers to write around a plot that interferes with their own plans. The mini series model addresses this by keeping it seperate

Jean Grey was the only title that teased this event. And this is the kind of storyline that warrants involvement with the other titles.... I mean Blue/Gold just had a Mojo cross over but they can't make room for an issue or two for the comeback of Jean?

Yes, but that would have required current Marvel editorial to actually plan and coordinate between their creative teams.

Which they can easily do if they want to. Its not like they don't do events/cross over every 6 months or less.

this... is... the... COOLEST TEAM

X-men Blue #25.

I hope this is the new permanent team (except for Jimmy, he can go away forever).

Polaris' new costume is EVERYTHING! I love that look and her as lead

The new Gold team? Less impressed especially with who's writing

Gold is sooooooooo close to perfection

Magik, Iceman, Rogue, Armour? Hell yes. Ink? Hell no. Guggenhein? Forget about it.

Those are cool new teams. Sadly, Guggenheim will keep me away from Gold.

The Blue uniforms are pretty cool, though.

Domino solo and Exiles are coming out in April.

And from the solicits, it looks like Daken is now a X-Man as well.

Good news! I've been reinstated!

And with that, can I just say how beautiful you guys are? Almost as beautiful as that final battle in this week's X-Men Blue. The 90s fan in me totally nerded out at that.

I really like Gold, and I LOVE that Armor is part of the team now. But I don't think I can get over Guggenheim. Was REALLY hoping he'd leave. That new Blue Team is pretty epic, though. Those costumes are pretty darn great.

Yeah, with Red upcoming, that was the final straw I needed to drop Gold.

Taylor is a great writer. Guggenheim is not. [BLACKOUT]Sigh, Magik, Rogue, Iceman, and Armor is such a nice team[/BLACKOUT]

So I don't want to look it up because I don't want to see spoilers... but is this some big relaunch deal? What titles are ending?
