X-Men - Part 8

I think everyone is just kind of ignoring what Guggenheim is doing.

Guggs is also ignoring what other people are doing.

Its basically mirroring what is happening in the Foxverse films. Every writer doing their own thing, not really paying attention to the other X-titles and it just leads me being confused. God I miss the 2000s comics.

I hear you. :( I feel the same way.

I think the run of eXtraordinary/Uncanny was much better because things line up pretty well and you know there were heading towards to something with the Inhumans story arc. Even All New didn't get lost in the mix despite not really appearing in Death of X. Ever since Primer, they just seem to be doing things out of thin air. Like I read the solicits, and there's two separate storylines for Storm in Red and Gold and I'm just like what? They have been resurrecting to many characters and I felt like the resurrecxion of Jean and X should have been a big thing in the other x titles. And it seems like they are doing that in Red/Gold Annual which is kinda too late since they have been back for months now.

To be fair, nothing much really happened in Extraodinary, Uncanny and All New. Those run very much felt like filler until IvX. And even then what they were building up to didnt much the plot of the crossover as things got changed.

The problem isnt characters appearing in more than one book but rather the editors arent doing their jobs. For example Eye-Boy hasnt been a regular in a book since Gen X ended. He got killed off in Venomized yet appears in the most recent issue of OML which takes place after Venomized. Mothervine is a major status quo changing plotline in Blue, yet we have no clue if its effects will be felt outside of there. Continuity is non-existent and I blame the editors

I've liked how they were dealing with the M-Pox and the Uncanny X-Men vol. 4 in my opinion was good, I also liked M's Empath story arc which IMO they should have continued in one of the main titles and not Gen X.

Anyway, it is the lacks of direction, the more X titles/spin offs they release monthly, the bigger the chances of them ignoring what's in the other titles. They need quality/quantity/continuity control.

Is this a new cartoon? I don't think that's the line up most people would want.

God,if there's anew X-Men cartoon, I hope its not as cheap looking as the recent Marvel cartoons. I don't know why the animation of Marvel television looks so bad now.

Marvel editorial screws up again! In the Red annual,

[BLACKOUT]its revealed that Cassandra Nova has taken a hold of Rachel and will use her as a weapon against Jean. However she has an upcoming Dark Rachel plotline in Gold which is unrelated to any of this[/BLACKOUT]

Speaking of the Annual, I hate that panel space was wasted on Laura and Gabby and we were cheated out of Jean having meaningful interactions with her closest friends. This read like a prologue to Red and less like the epilogue to Resurrection I was hoping for

I would have preferred for her to meet up with Hope and/or Cable rather than Laura. I did love the Jean/Rachel reunion, leaving Rachel out of Resurrection was a mistake.

I am annoyed that they got rid of Havok's facial scars. He earned him being a hero, not a villain.

IDA. The scar was awful and I’m glad it’s gone. The implications of Mothervine were huge and I wonder if it’ll be touched elsewhere. It effectively reversed M-day and former mutants should have their powers back if they were affected. I’m hoping Moonstar does and that she’s in Astonishing

I'm also in the minority who liked Alex and Janet, so don't take my opinion too seriously.

So, I am assuming that next issue is going to deal with Poison Jimmy, because I doubt Bunn would ignore his own special event.

So I was reading Weapon X and the new arc has Omega Red. Besides the original X-Men run by Jim Lee and the one in Wolverine Origins is he in any other good stories? He was always one of my favorites in the cartoon

The Omega Clan, three people who were created based off of Omega Red, featured in Uncanny X-force. They were kind of cool.

What I love about Mothervine is that it was used to wrap up Bunn's loose ends from Uncanny. The only ones that remains are Archangel and Monet, which he unfortunately wasnt able to write. With them now in limbo, Id love it if he were able to get a hold of them and add them to Blue. The new Blue team should be

Polaris
Daken
Archangel
Monet
Emma
Elixir

That would be an eXciting lineup for Blue. I'd keep Nightshade though.

I updated it to add Unuscione, whom I hope we see more of

I haven't read the latest issue of Blue yet, but why would you include Unuscione?

Because she was repowered by Mothervine, and has a connection to Magneto. It would be fitting if a MV mutant was added to the cast and she has an interesting visual powerset

Hmm. I personally don't want another former villain as part of the team.

I surprisingly liked the final part of Cry Havok. I think since it wasn't cutting back and forth with the tdo5, it made the issue easier to read. Seeing Havok, Emma and Polaris interact with each other reminded me of the mid 2000 issue in which Emma kicked out Polaris out of the mansion. I just like these three interacting with each other. What the heck happened to Xorn? I wish the neXt issue is featuring these characters but ehh back to the tdo5 again.

I liked Red annual as well especially how they tied it to the aftermath of IvX and DoX. Though Laura and Gabby were a bit extra, they weren't needed in this. I know they've added them because they are in the Red roster which is set after this issue. Anyway this issue should have been the siXth issue of PhoeniX resurrecXion.
