It wasn't until Very recently that I forgaVe the Wachowskis for "ReVolutions".

If it were just Tha Matrix vs. the X-Men movies, Matrix would win. But if it's the whole trilogy, then X-Men takes it.

I don`t understand this thread but mi vote goes to X-MEN.

Only an opinion between these 2 Movies, Now I remember a commentary from that arrogant artist called Alex Ross, he was saying in a Wizard Magazine that The X-MEN Movie was succesful thanks to The Matrix movies and his influential for The X-MEN, because the design of costumes for The X-MEN was very similar to the Matrix costumes (Black Leather Costumes)?????

Stupid Alex Ross, before Matrix, two Marvel Movies had a design of production very futuristic and dark, with Black Costumes and these Movies are; Men In Black(1997) and Blade(1998) and that`s the main reason about The XMEN with Black Costumes.

The MATRIX = AWESOME
X-MEN = SOLID

The MATRIX RELOADED = Good
X2: X-MEN UNITED = AWESOME

The MATRIX REVOLUTIONS = dissapointing
X3: The Last Stand = Looks Amazing

My vote goes to X-men just based on the first two films.

Here we go, this is a good method to sort this out:

The Matrix: Perfect *****
X-Men: Sucks **1/2

The Matrix: Reloaded: Brilliant ***1/2
X2: Brilliant X-Men movie ***1/2

The Matrix: Revolutions: Disappointing at first but ultimately ***
X3: 23 minutes long, last i heard! if this movie's as short as the first x-men, there is absolutely NO argument here. (And I'll be there opening day)It would be a joke, and when it releases in a month we'll all be able to sort this out a lot clearer. Can't wait!

My best friend and i just watched the original x-men last night, and he's the ULTIMATE x-men enthusiast! even he was honest enough to admit how many rediculous campy mistakes they made w/the first one. And they were totally cashing in on the matrix effects (something every studio did for about two years). Mystique doesn't glide around defying gravity! No one's ever disputed storm's lack of character development. Senator Kelly turning into...WATER!?!??? ...I mean, "okay, that's much better than Reloaded"...

What was wrong with Kelly's structure dissipating? Mystique gliding around was, perhaps taken too far, I haven't seen the movie in a while, but the idea was that she was graceful and that's cool with me. Storm was definatly underdeveloped, no argument there.

For trying to do something different and original w/Kelly, it was just a half-baked concept. It seemed like they just flat-out didn't think it out very well. And the part where he puts his head through the steel cage bars of his prison, I remember ducking my head in embarrassment at the theater... I can't believe more people don't acknowledge the first one as more 'camp' than cool???

Well, for one, the "camp" moments are not the memorable moments. What is memorable about that movie? Ian Mckellen's Magneto, Wolverine's introduction, the final fight with the Brotherhood on top of the Statue of Liberty (a powerful semiotic message), Patrick Stewart's Proffesor X. What was so half baked about having a bigot forced to live in the shoes of the people he hates?

X-men had the potential to be better than the Matrix, but it wasn't.

The matrix is classic sci-fi. X-men is not.

A giant bubble that turns people into mutants? Lame!

YES!!! THE FREAKING BUBBLE!?!?! WTF was that!!! 35+ years of comicbook material and they came up w/a bubble that doesn't even project radiation at an equal rate??

my friends and i were having a discussion about which of these franchises as a whole is the best. now i know that x3 comes out next month, but please just go by what we have seen of x3 and what we expect. also please tell y u picked the franchise that u did

I'm a huge X-Men fan...but I have to admit that the Matrix started off better. But boy did it ever fall apart after that. X-Men caught and passed it by movie #2. Unless X3 is horrid, X-Men will be the better trilogy.

Good idea above.. check it out:

The Matrix - *****
X-Men - **
The Matrix is a perfect 5 star in every way. X-Men had snippits of parts or performances that didn't suck. No glue to hold it together.

The Matrix: Reloaded: ****1/2
X2: ****
The Matrix Reloaded. Also perfect 5 star in every way. Sadly, the film is not a complete one, and the need to have it not end leads to a question in the grading. Had the resolution been as great as the start, then it would obviously be a 5 star all the way. This was not the case, so it's knocked down half. X2 also has problems with it's end. Namely, it drags, and it lacks.... something. I really can't quite place it, but the bits at the base just conjure up feelings of X1 for me- and that's never a good thing.

The Matrix: Revolutions: ***1/2
X3: Bad vibes, yet unfair to judge at this point, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and call it a 4 star, just for arguments sake: ****
The third Matrix pushes the SFX and the performances given by the actors over the past two films to perfection. Unfortunately, this time, the story fumbles in a big way.

So, adding them up, even with a generous 4 star for X-Men 3, you get the following:

Matrix: 5 + 4 1/2 + 3 1/2 = 13
X-Men: 2 + 4 + 4 = 10

Matrix is the clear winner, even with me being overly generous to what I feel will be a bad film, X3. Look at it this way... even if X3 is a perfect, 5 star film, then it can go toe to toe with the first Matrix(except that it really can't, because damn near nothing can.) Let's put Reloaded and X2 on the same level, again, for arguments sake. So the question would come down to, what is better, Revolutions or X1... and even with it's story problems, it is clearly Revolutions.
No matter what you do, Matrix wins it.

X-men

Awesome!! A serious take on the x-men and the characters are all pretty well played. Yeah!!!! ok wtf is with all the exposition. Why doesn't professor x call himself Professor X-plainer! Oh well, still enjoyed the hell out of this. ***1/2 stars.

X-2
HOLY JESUS that opening is the best opening for any superhero movie ever made period. Why can't spidey be portrayed as well as nightcrawler was here. This just makes me wish singer did the spidey movies too. He knows how to deliver the goods from his wallcrawling characters at least. Anyway, this is a very good movie, although questionable logistically. I liked it so very much. ****1/2 since it raised the bar from x-1. Mystique's cg needed work in one shot but overall this movie came very close to perfection.

Matrix

OH MY GAAAAAAWWWWWWDDDDDDDD. I've never seen a movie like this before! ever! of course, i'm only what... 13? but still, i've been raised by tv and I've never seen anything like this bullet time stuff and there's a cool story about robots taking over. It's terminator, but not. I love it AND CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEQUELS!! YIPEEEEE ****1/2 stars.

Reloaded

OH MY GAWD the beginning is so cool. Yes! This is what I wanted all those long months of waiting!! yes.. oh wait... aww... it's kinda gettin boring. Any story to follow perhaps? Wtf is with this dance sequence... what the hell, neo could have just flown away anyway. what the hell is that guy in the chair talking about? This is lame but some parts were good. Too bad it's pacing is terrible and action scenes way too gratuitous. It was cool when all of a sudden these guys started doing ninja stuff every once in a while, but doing it every damn second? it just loses its special quality... *(a star for belluci's rack) If I want nothing but action scenes and maybe a minute of story, I'll watch an 80s cartoon.

Revolutions

Now this is more like it. I wish I could see the fight at the end. What were they thinking by making them wear black at night. This is like an anime orgy. I liked the big robot battle and that's basically it. ** for the robot battle.

X-men wins.

You overstate my point. X-Men is a high quality franchise. The actual quality of the film is definitely a factor in it leading this pole (of course), I'm simply suggesting that a general love for X-Men in general is an equal or greater factor.

While there are certainly some who generally like the X-Men franchise more, (I for instance, as an X-Men fan, prefer the Hulk movie to X-Men 1 or 2 everyday of the week) I simply feel that most of the favoritism is due to the X-Men mythos, not to anything notable the actors or filmmakers did.

I could be wrong of course, however, my point, due to the nature of motivation and polling cannot easily be proven true or false. Even if every polled member spoke their mind, it doesn't prove their actual motivation, especially since motivations for preferences are often hidden from the prefferer, much less the poller.

You may be right in a different way than you think.

I voted X-Men because I enjoyed the 2 X-Men movies more than the 3 Matrix movies. I do feel that the first Matrix is one of the very best sci-fi movies ever made. But the sequels are so bad that I have to be honest and say I never feel the urge to watch the first one again. (I own it) The sequels actually ruined the first one for me.

Now...as to the way we feel. If you are an X-Men fan...doesn't it stand to reason that you will enjoy an X-Men movie more than a movie about something else? That is just the way you are wired. That particular story is going to push your buttons more than a story like the Matrix.

You're not being influenced by your love of the X-Men, you are being totally honest.

I thought the Hulk movie was horrible...but I still own it and would rank it on my personal list above other movies that are considered better. I will watch Hulk before I'll watch Citizen Kane again. (I don't watch Hulk often...almost never...but that is still more often than I'll watch Kane.) That's because the Hulk simply interests me more than Kane's story. (Plus I find Kane incredibly overrated.) I'm not being dishonest in any way...I truly think Hulk is a more entertaining movie than Kane. To me...that is the "truth".

He's cracked the Matrix's code and the argument! g'job Rez!

Why do both sides insist on acting like their INDIVIDUAL OPINIONS are gospel fact?!? Why can't it simply be "I prefer X-Men" or "I prefer The Matrix"?
