X3: Bomb or not?

Ok, good for you guys. How does that make you any more knowledgable about the movie industry than Joe Schmo?
Exhibition is my job.

Oh yes, because people like you know everything about the movie buisness and none of us noobs know a thing
I don't everything about the movie business and I never claimed to. I mostly know about the part that I work in and have learned a lot from the related parts that I associate closely with. Then I come here and read hundreds of wild hair-brained theories on how the industry works and either, laugh, roll my eyes and turn away, or occasionally put in a reply.

And get sarcasm for my trouble.

Well try not to be a condescending ass next time and maybe people will listen to you.

I work in the telemarketing business. That doesnt make me an expert.

Sticking feathers up your butt doesn't make you a chicken. :o

Does anyone know why Marvel made no effort in promoting the movie, where were the comic book tie ins and movie adaptation?

No, they generally don't. I read their posts venturing equivalents of "4 - 2 = 5", point out that such assessments are flat out wrong and attract replies of haughty sarcasm before getting called a condescending ass. :down

You know, you'd think people in a place like SHH would would be eager to soak up any insider tidbits that I, and several others here, care to venture, but actually the reverse is more often true. Instead we just get "Oh yes, because people like you know everything about the movie buisness and none of us noobs know a thing  " thrown at us all the time.

Obviously, you didn't listen to a word I said.

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF X3 OUTGROSSED BATMAN BEGINS!

How good a movie is or not should be determined BY ITS QUALITY, not by how much money it made!

If X3 outgrossed Begins, that only means that it made more money than Begins. It DOESN'T mean that is better than Begins.

If it did well in the box office, then it means it made a lot of money. It doesn't mean that the movie is good.

Bottom line: X3 is crap. Wether it made a lot of money or not is another matter entirely.

I think X3 is FAR better than Batman, and an excellent movie in general. I am glad it outgrossed Batman (by A LOT OF MONEY BTW) because it deserved to.

One could say that they didn't have time to get it produced since Fox rushed it so. Or one could say that they're trying to distance themselves from it because it sucks so much.

Wishful thinking, I know. But they have stated that they will not do any comic tie-ins to X3, which is kinda strange as they've done comic tie-ins to almost every other movie they've released.

Maybe it just means that casual cinema goers enjoyed X3 more ??

Something for you to think about there ..

i agree that a movies QUALITY should decide its success

That's why I am glad X3 did so well. It's easily my favourite of the three, and I love the other two as well.
