i saw Milk and The Wrestler on the same day. back-to-back. Rourke should have won. why? because he was more moving on an individual level.

Milk made me shakey and cry like a baby, but that was the entire film. not just Penn's performance. having said that, a part of me knew he might win and is glad that he did. he was fantastic.

that piece of populist fluff Slumdog winning EVERYTHING! it's like Crash, Shakespeare in Love, Chariots of Fire, and Titanic all over again. in a few weeks, months, and then years, this telecast will be looked back and upon and everyone will realize the wrong movie won. hell, even one of the actors won for the wrong role (Winslet). and the wrong year.

Ugh, don't remind me about Shakespeare in Love....and Winslet won for the wrong role, but the Academy is notorious for giving people their Oscars a few roles too late, so I'm glad she won

i'm glad she won as well. i'm happy with all of the acting noms. i hate that the Academy drank the Slumdog kool-aid.

it's not about anything deeper. it's feel good, and decent enough. what's the overpowering sentiment? love conquers all cause the movie ends with a song-and-dance routine between the two main characters? ok. wanna try passing that tripe off in the slums of India? good luck. so, because a movie takes place in the poverty stricken country of India, and it has an inplausable, totally credibility destroying premise, but ends with a happy-go-lucky musical number it deserves to win over a meditation about time, life, love, and death (Benjamin Button), or the human rights crusades of one man (Milk)? yeah, i don't think so.

mark my words, years from now, this year will be looked down upon like the 2000 Academy Awards. this was the worst year for movies so far this decade.

It's definitely one of those "oh, that movie got everything..whatever" situations. Even before the Oscars people were getting like that.
I must say, I liked some of the format changes they had though
