Everyone got to make a Thread, I thought now it's my turn. :awesome: So, Shredder. Will we get him in the first Movie or will the focus be solely on Krang? When we get him, who should play him and how should he be portrayed.

Shredder from the 2K3 cartoon, IMO, is the best portrayal of the character yet. Minus the whole Utrom thing. I hope the Movie version will be closely based on this one.

please god no utrom shredder who ever thought that up was severely brain damaged

I still maintain that Shredder in the first film was perfect in appearance.

For comparison here's the second film:

Have to say I like the ninja aspect the most of TMNT. So, I definitely say, keep the basic backstory in tact. One thing I thought the show did better is by merging Splinter and Yoshi into one character. It makes the rivalry much stronger.

I did like how the newer cartoon actually had Leonardo and Shredder interacting in a civilized manner, before the big finale.

Need more Shredder without armor characterization.

Before they revealed that he was an Utrom, I liked how they hinted at him being Immortal. Like when he held the sword of Tengu and claimed to have conquered ancient Japan and gave power to the Tokugawa Clan with it, I thought that was just awesome stuff. There already have been several changes to Shredder throughout the years, I wouldn't mind if they turned him into the Ra's al Guhl of the TMNT-verse. If not that, then I definitely want him just to be human.

I really hope they stick close to that. As much as I liked the cartoon, I don't want Shredder overly armored. The leg/arm guards, helmet and shoulder spikes are enough, his clothes should be some Ninja attire.

Maybe even something similar to Sub-Zero from MK Deception.

I definitely want to see more of Oroku Saki, not just his Shredder persona.

Throwing in a little mythology wouldn't be bad per se. Perhaps have Shredder speculate that the turtles are kappa (Japanese turtle demons).

But one thing I liked about the newer cartoon is that the character was a lot more dignified (pre-Utrom reveal). Not just a guy yelling about turtle soup.

Him actually being decapitated would be nice. Still surprised the newer cartoon got away with that.

Hiroyuki Sanada as The Shredder would be BRILLIANT !!!!

One concept From the 4Kids cartoon that i would like see is Oroku Saki as a business man.

He was like a cold business man in the 2003 series too, and that is why it was my favorite version of shredder
so, bring on the business man Oroku Saki!

He definitely needs to be a Japanese actor that knows some decent English.

Have to say I rather liked Shredder's depiction in the newer cartoon, pre-Utrom revelation.

Especially the way he reacted to seeing Leonardo. He was barely surprised. I like that he alluded to having seen amazing things before, and that there are more strange things out there.

I think the Mirage shredder would definitely be the best to go with. More of a gritty, realistic version of him. As far as his look goes, I mean.

As far as who to play him, I agree that Ken Watanabe would be a great choice for Shredder. I would like to see him play just a completely evil character.

Jet Li wouldn't be a bad choice, either. He did a great job playing the villain in Lethal Weapon 4. His character took great pleasure in killing people. "In Hong Kong, you'd already be dead."

Jet Li is too short to be The Shredder, and I think Ken is too old. I always thought Li would be a good choice to play Frieza in a live action DBZ movie though.

Don't let the studio choose who will play shredder. They would probably choose someone like Richard Gear or Tom Cruise if they could. Look what Hollywood tried to do with Akira the live action movie. White people with japanese names LOL. CAST SHREDDER RIGHT.

They're not gonna do that. They didn't even do that in the first one.

Kevin Eastman actually does want Ken Watanabe to play Shredder! He stated it in an interview!

Wow, that Shredder from The Next Mutation live action show was just...my God, wth was that?! :barf:
