Sci-Fi You Get A Prize, Honey - The 'Doctor Who' Thread

I have since seen this debunked as false and that they are waiting to see how season 2 fares, but it also sounds completely plausible, unfortunately.

I loved last season and love this Doctor so very much looking forward to what comes in Season 2....

20 years ago today, Doctor Who returned with Rose. Curious about everyone's favorites from NuWho?

I'd be giving a lot of the same answers, but I do want to throw in my favourite episode, Listen:

Really enjoy the Capaldi seasons immensely, myself. Feel like I get everything I want out of it in them.

Do you mean fave of the reboot?

Fave doctor - 10
Fave companion - Donna
Fave villain - Rassilon
Fave supporting character - Rose Noble
Favourite season - 4 (although 3 is also really good)

yes. its the 20th anniversary.

Kind of surprised they didnt do anything special for it

At this point, I don't want any reveal of Mrs Flood. She is too much fun right now.

(may be keeping that gif handy)

That was fun. I like Belinda. Nice to get the Mundy "mystery" out right away. The setup for Belinda definitely feels like a setup for one season companion.

I liked the reveal. Definitely adds the proper context to some of the stuff that was like, eww, beforehand. And added more grossness.

Ha yeah RTD has played the long game with this one. Glad we can stop suggesting her for every Easter egg lmao

I've been catching up, and the season has been good. But it sort of just fell to the wayside for me after the premiere because of other amazing shows.

I like the actors but the show has been relatively boring for a couple seasons now
I don’t entirely disagree on the first season. It was a bit more uneven and felt like it was playing it a bit more safe to hook the more casual audience that hadn’t watched Doctor Who. It had some high highs, but also some low lows. Also, Millie Gibson, as great of an actress that she is, felt like she wasn’t served as well by the writing for her character, and the payoff and build up for the overarching mysteries surrounding Ruby Sunday and Sutekh fell just a little flat.

However, I do disagree on this season. I feel it has been a lot stronger, more consistent and more engaging and I’ve not been bored by it at all. Belinda Chandra as played by Varada Sethu has been a much better companion, and I think part of that has been because they’ve kind of let the character be the character and not elevated her as this special cosmic coincidence that is a key importance to the overall season plot, at least not nearly as much. And this past episode’s twist ending reveal has primed the ending of the season for what I think will be a much better and more satisfactory endgame. We’re now finally starting to pay off a lot of story threads that were begun in Season 1, like the Pantheon, Mrs. Flood, the weird coincidences and occurrences throughout the past two seasons brought about by what the 14th Doctor did in Wild Blue Yonder at the edge of the universe, etc.

This season feels like Russell T Davies in prime Doctor Who mode finally unleashed doing more of what people have come to expect from him and a lot of the stuff he did when he wrote for the 9th and 10th Doctors’ seasons.

I do think that the lower ratings are probably from people expecting last season to be a return to form and being a bit disappointed checking out from this season. Hopefully the ending of this past episode and whatever happens in these finale episodes creates a bunch of word of mouth and gets more people back on board.
