Doctor Who

I always catch the end of it when I switch over for Who and it looks kack.

A good but confusing episode.

I don't really get how the doctor showing the video footage of the alien over the moon landing would make everyone remember them and be able to fight back... Canton saw a hologram and when he looked away forgot about them so the effect still works with images of the alien  Maybe I'm just not getting it.

The Silence has controlled the human race through post hypnotic suggestion. When Canton sawthe hologram, the Doctor told him to straighten his tie when he couldn't see the Silence and he did uncontrolably. So after the moon landing, no one would remember seeing the Silence, but subconsciously they would automatically kill them on sight because of the hypnotic suggestion. Does that make sense or did I over complicate it?

Yea, also, probably being really thick but....

What happend to the start of the last episode? She missed the girl... but, what happend to the girl? Did she magically dissapear? Why did it jump forward a bunch of months? Why was the doctor captured? Why were they being chased? Why did they have to fake death? Why did the president come out of the prison thing?

If people are being triggered to kill the "silence" hasn't the doctor basically became a mass murderer forcing people to become killers? Isn't that against his mantra? He's like, a hero that doesn't kill, or something?

Dis confoosing.

I'm with the Episode was confusing gang

River shooting up the joint was entertaining.

Surprised no one has mentioned the ending with the little girl and Amy

She is a Time Lady WTF! (do Time Lords have superstrength now? & Amys Baby showing up and disappearing

oh no...MAYBE! the girl is the doctors and rivers daughter? and in the pic where Amy is holding the kid that's after River gave birth?

I took the tricking of the FBI and faking of deaths as a way of operating undercover from the US government. I mean who is going to believe that an unmemorable race of aliens have been ruling the planet for centuries without proof.

The rapid flashbacks showed that they were able to convince Delaware that the Silence existed, so he and the Doctor must have come up with the manhunt and imprisonment plan. That and, if the medical treatments saved his life, they have a Silent prisoner in the best prison built.

So many questions to be answered this series, but I like that the audience is being engaged to think for themselves, and try and work out the mystery.

For The Doctor
Its only genocide when someone else is doing the killing, plus they have been murdering and manipulating the human race since the dawn of time I thing he figured it was fair they got a taste of their own medicine I dare say previous incarnations might of handled it differently

The Doctor with another Kid. His turning into a deadbeat dad like Superman in Returns:cwink:

@Chamber- Music

"Its only genocide when someone else is doing the killing"

Eh? I still don't get the logic here, to me it's kinda like saying Hitler wasn't that bad because it was his orders and not physically him doing the bad business.

"plus they have been murdering and manipulating the human race since the dawn of time I thing he figured it was fair they got a taste of their own medicine"

Isn't that basically what he is doing? Even though he may feel it's benefiting them, he is basically dictating what they are doing over and above the "silence" in a revolution they aren't even aware of participating in?

The Doctor being a massive hypocrite is not something new

So... why did they blow up the tardis again? Was this explained (I missed a bit of the beginning)? Will it ever be explained? Because it better bloody be.

River

We're going backwards through her time right?

Well

Might be massive spoiler

It's only natural we go ALL the way back. To her BIRTH

^^Thats what I've been thinking. But that would be convoluted as hell. And it hurts my brain to try and work out how it would work so I'm not going to try.

just finished watching it. absolutely superb. some great answers and some great lead in to other cliff hangers

though i did think we were past this whole she really love the doctor crap, i know they heavily meant it to be rory but the idea was still there and i'm worried moffet may try and do a whole rose thing with amy

2 of best bits for me was

the fact that someone actually attacked an alien, as much as i love doc who i never understood why some of the threats were not physically attacked. Delaware shooting the silence was brilliant

the banter between song and the doctor on the silence's ship was superb and made me actually really like the character. she's a hell of a flirt

One of my theories on why River Song seemed so shocked when she found out that her and The Doctor had never kissed before is that her timeline is just as screwed up as his. She is not all knowing, as they are both meeting out of sync. She has more knowledge of the relationship than him but she cannot know everything about the eventual adventures that she will have with The Doctor. Therefore I think that maybe River believes that one day The Doctor will fall in love/marry her, due to the way that he has interacted with her because of the ways she has interacted with him (only because of the way he has previously acted around her) at different points in their timelines (if that makes sense). The Doctor's shock at being kissed by her could have destroyed the idea she had that they were going to be together at some point in time.

@Evil

I generally thought it was one of the worst episode of Matt Smiths run.
Looked pretty though, very cinimatic for a doctor who episode.

I liked the episode but I feel like there were a lot of scenes that I just can't remember. It just seemed to jump around.

[BLACKOUT]River's last line was a reference to her time line going the wrong way as the Doctor's and he is slowly knowing less and less about her. Remember in the last episode when she spoke about how hard it would be to meet The Doctor when he knows nothing about her, for her it's getting closer, for us it's in the past.[/BLACKOUT]

I agree with the fellow who said another episode would have helped.
Another fellow a few pages back also suggested it would have worked better if these were shown sat/sun rather than sat (week) sat. For something shown at Easter, the first half wasn't exactly a crescendo or even that much of a hanger.

Oh something else I noticed, don't know if someone else spotted it during last weeks episode too, but
The Silence ship appears to be identical to the ship from The Lodger.

Maybe it is the TARDIS that belongs to the little girl (if she is a Time Lady)

yeah the doctor mentioned that in the episode

thinking back do you think the Lodger dude was a silence
