Maybe it is the TARDIS that belongs to the little girl (if she is a Time Lady)

The question is though, if the baby is caused by The Silence, what have they to gain by trying to recreate the Timelords and their technology?

The potential to take over everywhere at all points in time with the space and time travel capabilities of a TARDIS. River did make a comment in the first part about the potential chaos that could be caused if an enemy got hold of a Time Lord's body.

One of my theories on why River Song seemed so shocked when she found out that her and The Doctor had never kissed before is that her timeline is just as screwed up as his. She is not all knowing, as they are both meeting out of sync. She has more knowledge of the relationship than him but she cannot know everything about the eventual adventures that she will have with The Doctor. Therefore I think that maybe River believes that one day The Doctor will fall in love/marry her, due to the way that he has interacted with her because of the ways she has interacted with him (only because of the way he has previously acted around her) at different points in their timelines (if that makes sense). The Doctor's shock at being kissed by her could have destroyed the idea she had that they were going to be together at some point in time.

What? No, I thought it was obvious. Their timelines are reversed, so if it's the Doctor's first kiss, then it's her last. She was saddened because she basically knows its the last time she'll ever kiss him.

That would mean the relationship between them would be inherently romantic. I was just suggesting a theory that would negate them having to get closer (in a romantic way) as the story progresses. Having The Doctor and River continue to develop a romantic relationship seems too obvious considering Moffat has been hinting that nothing to do with River is as it seems.

I wonder how the hallucination of the woman in the eye patch will fit into the story. Why was Amy even hallucinating? Or was she seeing into the past/future of the orphanage? This whole 2 parter has left a lot of unanswered questions, which gets me very excited for the rest of the series.

Just caught the episode. It's was quite creepy stuff.

And that ending
f0xod5.gif

Yeah that ending was pretty "WTF?!"
I wonder if this means the
The Time Lords
are returning.
And if they are, then why didn't the Doctor know that what he saw was one?
And I hope I'm not the only one who hopes Canton comes back.

If Canton was to become the next companion, I wouldn't complain at all.

River talking about the Doctor knowing less and less about her is reference to all the appearances we've seen so far going back to the the Library and 10. Remember, everything we've seen so far is still in River's future. If this was the first time the Doctor remembers being kissed by her, she now knows that she'll never kiss him again as they continue to meet, and she's getting closer and closer to that day he won't know her at all.

It's pretty obvious that, if they aren't married in the Doctor's future, they are romantically linked. Especially now we've seen the Doctor starting to really return her flirtations and get that first' kiss. Hell, even back in the Library, River talked about the last time she saw the Doctor. How special their night together had been, how sad he had looked, and how he had given her his screwdriver...

I don't think out of sync means that we're seeing River show up at different points in her timeline. Out of sync just as easily means backwards. By all the comments River has mentioned during her appearances, we're seeing her life in reverse. Every time she shows up, it's a younger version, who then makes reference to some upcoming adventure for the Doctor (past adventure for her).

I definitely wouldn't. Mark Sheppard is awesome. Was completely stoked to see him in Doctor Who, it only makes sense, he's in everything else.

I liked this two parter a lot; the imagery was very strong and I am in favour of the plotting being open to interpretation.

I am not sure I really want Doctor Who to be a character driven drama with The Doctor and his relationships at the center. For me, the show works much better when it is story-driven, and The Doctor and his companons' personalities are explored by the way in which they deals with each adventure.

Oh yeah... What the hell was that all about?

One thing has me kinda confused about their timelines. If they're going completely reversed, what's the point of River's journal? Shouldn't she already know what they have and haven't done, and shouldn't there not be any crossover?

I think the backwards thing is just in general, but because they're time travelers, sometimes it's a bit different. I mean obviously she met his older self last episode briefly, but also like you mentioned, there's that last meeting where he gives her his screwdriver. That's still in both of their futures.

Looks like I'm gonna have to start keeping a journal of all the mysteries Doctor Who is introducing. So far we've got...

-Who/what is the little girl?
-Why did the Silence/Silents want to protect the girl?
-What's Amy's connection to the girl?
-Was it the little girl in the spacesuit who shot the future Doctor?
-Why did the person in the spacesuit have to kill the Doctor?
-Who did the little girl regenerate into?
-Why did Amy see a hatch in the door to the girl's room, and who was that on the other side?
-Where did the Silence come from?
-Were the Silence behind the TARDIS' self destruction and how did they do it?
-By the year 2011, how many Silence are still on Earth?
-What's the Silence's connection to the abandoned spaceship that was over Craig's flat?
-Will there be any ramifications for Rory now that he remembers 2,000 years in an alternate history?
-And of course, there's the mystery of River Song.

So we find out who River Song is in episode 7, only 4 weeks away!!!!! It will affect Amy in ways you can't even imagine. (Maybe it's her mother?)
There may be other time lords out there (proven by end of episode 2) Amy has a massive secret that will change her relationship with the Doctor forever if he finds out.

Sorry if this has already been posted. I just thought it provided some interesting insight.

Liked this episode alot. I just still wished I watched the last season. I'm slightly confused. I got the ending which was regeneration. Next week's episode looks cool too.

Ho. Lee. Spit. That's gotta be one of the best endings of a TV episode I've ever seen.

Anyone else wondering if, since this is all supposed to tie into River's identity, maybe the little girl is not Amy and Rory's child, but rather the Doctor and River's? His second child, at least, since the Doctor already knew and lost Susan's mother or father, but it'd still be pretty crazy.

Watched it this morning. The itunes crowd is in. I figure the spoilers can loosen up this afternoon. :D

:ff: :ff: :ff:

Eh, I've made my peace with River and the Doctor boning at some point. At least she's been fleshed out a bit more with each appearance and isn't a Mary Sue anymore.

I actually really like River. Im in the minority so it seems.

I loved
how the Doctor acted during the kiss though haha

The little girl regenerated back in 1969 or 1970 (I can't remember how many months later it was after the Silence fell). Maybe the little girl is someone from a companion or Doctors past?

I have a feeling the little girl isn't a Time Lord, but maybe a clone or something of that nature, and that's why she died. Her DNA was unstable, so she regenerated and that could have stabilized her. What if there's an entire group of people who don't even know they're part Time Lord?! The little girl could be Amy's mom?!

Oh! And what about the TARDIS saying Amy is postive AND negative. Could it be something to do with her time travelling? or maybe interacting with someone from her time stream she shouldn't have interacted with. Or better yet! The baby interacting with someone they shouldn't interact with yet? Has the Doctor ever had a pregnant companion before?

edit- a before you start whining about spoilers, the episode is both out in the UK and NA, and up on itunes. so :oldrazz:

Apparently the 11th Doctor's policy on guns has fallen back to the stance he had in his 3rd incarnation. He won't carry one, but he doesn't seem to have much of a problem with his friends shooting a bad guy or two.

"Oh, and this is my friend River. Nice hair, clever, has her own gun, and unlike me she really doesn't mind shooting people. I shouldn't like that-- kinda do a bit."

Compare that to the 10th Doctor. "OMG, THAT SOLDIER IS CARRYING A GUN! FEEL MY TIME LORD HATE!!!"

What was that line she said after she shot up the Silence TARDIS?
"Better not let my old-man see this, he wouldn't like it" Or something of that nature.
