Your Life's Aspirations Thread

LOL, it looks like Spoons and I have some similiar goals. Mine are..

Get into med school and graduate
Find a good job in medicine
Get married and have kids

And just because I've always wanted to : hit 200 lbs. I'm 5'10" 175 with 8-9% BF. I obviously want it to be a healthy 200 lbs., so BF 11-12% at least. This may sound silly, but I've always been small and I want to prove to myself that I can change that.

Go to college (preferably film school)
Get a rockin' job (film-related)
Marraige and little symbiotics.

When I was a kid, I never had any one thing I wanted to be when I got older. One day, I wanted to be a cowboy. The next day, a fireman. The next, an astronaut. And so on.

Now that I'm older, I still don't know what I want for a career, but at least the job I'm at helps pay the bills and I have enough to keep a second fridge stocked with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and continue playing video games.

So, I guess I just wanted to be content

On topic:

-to weigh 250lbs with under 10% body fat
-to get a job working in a micro lab and work with really dangerous bacteria/viruses
-to achieve fluency in French
-to be happily married and be able to bring up any and all subjects with my wife
-to be a great uncle
-to take care of my Mom when she retires, I owe that lady so much; though I wanna choke her sometimes

Sounds like a good list to me

Real goals:
1. Play the drums (real ones)
2. Lose some more weight
3. Celebrate a whole year with Ms. Fran™
4. See the Wings win a Cup
5. See the Spartans beat Michigan
6. Become a key-holding manager at work
7. Hope that my mom and stepdad's divorce is actually finalized
8. Find a better job, more $
9. Turn 21 and just get s***-faced :o

Those are just 2008 predictions, but 1 is valid, so is 2.
3, well, I think I wanna be with her for a long time, so that will be valid.
4 and 5 are good, not so much 6. 8 is valid.

I'm serious. When I turn legal drinking age, I'll start drinking.

You'll likely go out the night of your birthday. I don't see you as a bar regular

No, that's why you buy the beer for the fridge

I'm not a drinker, to tell you the truth. I've had beer but don't know what is so great about it. I also don't get why people drink to get drunk. I prefer a fine wine or a good scotch over beer.

I've had beer before, and to be honest, it tastes like s***.

But when I turn 21 in July, I'm definitely going out with the buddies to the bar to drink that night. I'm not gonna become an alcohol addict like my friend Spoons and his woman :o, but I could become a fan of drinking.

yeah and it will still taste like s*** no matter how many times you drink it. You'll just be able to tolerate it, IMO.

Only if you buy cheap beer, some beer is very tasty.

Some of my goals:
  • To get married and have a happy, long marriage
  • To publish a book
  • To get a job that leaves me feeling satisfied and makes me happy
  • To change at least one person's life for the better
  • To get in the best shape possible- tone, tone, tone! I've already gained some muscle weight, but I need to crack down in terms of fitness
  • To travel to many places outside the country
  • Learn how to speak at least one other language well, and know basic vocabulary for a couple others
  • To own kittens!
  • To figure out my spiritual beliefs and become firm in my faith
  • To do SOMETHING with my singing, even if it's just taking up private study

I hear you . . . a few years ago I was in a rock band, and we seriously practiced like 4 days a week . . . we were determined, and thought we might actually make 'it' one day . . . but realistically, a rock star can't be there for their family . . . and now my cousin who was the lead singer is doing the LAST thing he ever wanted to do . . . he's conforming; he's going to school to be an accountant

all in all, the whole 'rock star' scenario was not meant to be (and I'm not saying that we were so totally wicked that becoming famous was a sure thing), but you see where I'm going . . .
what instrument do you play while stoned

General Goals (reserving the right to amend later):

-Get elected to the state legislature.
-Strip my body-fat back down from 11% to 8 or 9%.
-add another inch to my arms.
-Meet a girl I can actually see a future with.
-Successfully woo and marry said girl.
-Get elected Governor.
-Have a great family.
-Be financially secure and essentially debt free.
-Continue to stay in good shape.
-Care for my parents as they retire.
-Be a good husband, father, and one day, grandfather.
-Get elected to Congress.
-Send my children off to good colleges and hopefully see them succeed.
-Retire happily with my wife.

Thanks dude. Nobody's curing the common cold....EVER

heh . . . I know; pry would be some kind of ecological disaster if they did

Nah, I actually max out at 260. My chest responds really well to benching so I don't have to bench trailer homes to get pecs :D

you go, Fran . . . the hardest thing about the drums is finding a viable practice space . . . if you can't really play, you're going to SUCK at first Lol! So if you end up practicing in a house, you'll have to wait til you're alone, or have highly tolerable roommates :D

I've actually been playing for about 10 years . . . though I don't practice nearly as much as I should, but that's neither here nor there . . .

you should see that game Rock Band heh, awesome :D
