Movies are all opinions, there are no facts and you cant say or prove Titanic or any other movie is the best. There are no wrong opinions or choices. There are no best movie and everyone should like whatever they liked without being called wrong. I cant respect you or any other person for thinking otherwise.

^ amen and and personally i think speilburg is overrated, he's made some good films, but there are plenty of filmmakers who i have some much more respect for.

Yes, because Jaws made the summer blockbuster season, Close Encounters challenged SW, ET hypnotized millions, Raiders of the Lost mother****ing Ark is the definitive action adventure film and character to boot, Shindler's List gave more awareness to the Holocaust, Saving Private Ryan is the most brutally honest war film ever made.

Just sayin. :o

Best can still be based on opinion. One guy can think the best film ever is Apocalypse Now and another can think it's Citizen Kane. Neither are wrong.

Maybe. But this thread is clearly about personal favourites -- so what are you talking about..?
Its obviously about favorites and personal opinions. Best however is a fact and you cant have an opinion on it. The difference between 'best' and 'favorite' is that 'best' is fact and 'favorite' is opinion.
Sometimes when you say best you're dont literally mean best. You mean favorite. That's accaptable. But OP(and other people on this thread) cant mean that because 'favorite' is a seperate category.

...unless by 'best' OP means favorite, and by 'favorite' he means something else. Which is slightley less crazy.

I think he's referring to what you enjoy or "like/love" more compared to what you feel is the most technically well made.

I enjoy AvP:R more than Alien and Aliens...but I don't consider it a greater filmmaking achievement.

Does someone always have to put an "imo" after everything? I think its pretty clear that in this instance, best is a personal opinion and not a fact. When it comes to interpreting art NOTHING is fact, everything is pretty much subjective...so I don't understand your arguments.

Using your logic we might as well end film awards since they're always chosing best picture, actors, directors, etc of the year.

Its very clear why you dont understand my arguments. The reason why you dont understand my arguments is because you(and a couple of others here) dont know the difference between the words 'favorite' and 'best'.

Here's the difference: Best = fact, favorite = opinion.

Now what Ive understood you and OP means favorite when you say best, and most entertaining when you say favorite.
