The miniseries/cinematic television shows are the way of the future, especially on streaming platforms.

If it does anything, I hope this project opens the doors for more top talent to do stuff like this or lindelof’s watchmen

Imagine If we had a HBO series that focused on the DCEU where maybe a few episodes was superman, then flash.... cyborg?

I also feel like the multiverse could be a good way to have, or at least flood the market with good versions.. like, if something seems good... throw it out there.

I mean, TV movies? a series... it's interesting and the pandemic has arguably changed the fabric now of what we expect on tv or cinema.

SS can't be saved.

I think the same about JL. It's issues are at the root and no amount of throwing 20 million bucks against it will fix that.

Is Ezra Miller NOT gonna be Flash? Is Superman NOT gonna have a terrible looking muscle suit in all his scenes? Nothing short of a 110% new and different movie will suffice. There is not a single frame in the Whedon cut worth salvaging and no hackjob of those scenes will turn out successful. Literally everything Whedon touched needs to be thrown out. And then it still needs to be a good movie in it's own right.

Not getting my hopes up for this one but would like to be proved wrong.

Sure, but at least one could be glad that a director gets to see his vision realized rather than having it butchered by greedy executives. Yes, the movie might still suck, but I'd rather see Snyder's JL film than WB's JL film.

At least one would be a coherent product with no tonal inconsistencies and CG-Cavill nightmare fuel, so that's already an improvement.

dan amboyer frantically calling his agent to get a green lantern audition

Quoting this because I don't feel enough of y'all appreciated this absolute gem of a post.

I think the CGI budget for a series would be too high. Maybe a limited series if JL generated a lot of streaming money?

Yeah that's a good route to go. Limited series like Watchmen, that can be a one and done or come back for additional parts if the demand and money is right.

Well this is truly great stuff, and after a couple of weeks of Facebook and Instagram rumours, it’s good to have this concrete.

If it’s going to be a four hour watch though, there’s obviously going to be a lot added, a lot removed, and a lot changed. Whilst I kinda’ expect this to overwrite Whedon’s JL, I don’t expect it to interfere too much with the other films.

I would’ve also thought that before announcing this, they (WB and Snyder) would’ve gotten the thumbs up from all relevant cast members about extra scenes, and I can only think they’ve all agreed to them - Affleck included. Snyder obviously has a vision and he’s going to need everyone on board for it.

I’m curious too whether they’re going to link any of the other films to this, such as Shazam. Could they get a Billy Batson cameo on? Maybe that interview with Superman, but from a different perspective? Could we also see missing characters like a Lantern (present tense) at all?

Per the cliffhanger ending, unless they’re going to follow up on that I’d rather them not.

The only cliffhanger ending you can play with is one in which there’s a timeline alteration paving the way for Patterson’s Batman over Affleck’s, and if needs be, a replacement for Cavil (although with the Snyder cut being released, I’m half expecting to see a Man of Steel sequel with Cavil in the role sometime soon).

Exciting times are ahead, that’s for sure.

for whatever reason, I have a really good feeling about this.

I liked MOS enough to want more and you all know how I feel about BvS, but I really think they're gonna hit their stride if they employ the streaming format.

the younger fellas have no idea the controversy that went down with Amboyer. Guy had some of us going for a while.

Imagine if the DCEU moved to HBO streaming and was a direct to tv franchise, with better production values than most... it could be a real trend setter. I mean, sure, they would need to sort out the budget and costs, the cgi won't be cheap, but, on the tv screen, things are more forgiving I would say, than up on the silver screen.

We'll see.

My emotions is kind of mixed on this one. Happy for Snyder, and fans of DC..... but there were a small portions of the Snyder's fan base that were nasty as hell towards Reeves, Gunn and anybody who supports The Batman, and the rebooted SS. I hope today's news will stop that crap.

It's good to see you feeling good about things again. We all have learned a very hard lesson, repeatedly since 2013, that things don't always go how you hope. But it's a damn fine feeling to have some anyway.

And yeah Amboyer had our asses all because of that one pic in a damn flight jacket lol.

I’m very happy for all the Hypesters who’ve been wanting to see this. While my own interest in this cut goes no further than curiosity, as a fan who participated in campaigns for both Firefly and Veronica Mars, two shows that ultimately got fan-driven revivals, I know how amazing today must feel for you, and I’m glad for it. That sort of happiness seems in short supply in these trying times.

You see, I am torn, Zack loves the lore, the universe the characters...his head probably has this amazing movie and in his mind he sees the connective tissue and the spin offs and side stories and when he stands back it, unshackled, its this amazing project. From the open kara pod, to swanick, to batman and luthor etc...

But, wether it be studio interference or just poor directing, it didn't happen, with 3 attempts and a lot of money.

However, his ideas presented to another director, Jenkins for WW and Wan for AM faired a lot, lot better - the box office and reviews show this. I mean, AM making more than MOS, who would have thought.

My suggestion... if this Snyder cut gets praise, which I hope it does otherwise what will it be for? is to have Snyder involved, like he was with AM and WW and helping a MOS2 get off the ground and have the dceu carry on via the streaming service and primarily.
