Deadpool 2 Zazie Beets officially cast as Domino in Deadpool 2

(looks at Vanessa and NTW)

Yeah, it's not like this team has had a history of not changing characters who were non real colors.

She looks great. And I can't wait to see her in action.

I think after Vanessa, we can chill with the hate, I would hope.

She has yet to be copycat so I'm not sure on your argument here.

With NTW everyone already hated that character.

This is closer to say a Quicksilver situation.

I'm interested to see how they'll portray her luck powers. Maybe she'll just have perfect aim. I can see Deadpool making some jokes lol
Maybe they'll handle it like spidey senses? Just a slight slo-mo of her manipulating things around her.

I think her luck powers will lead to some really funny fights with Wade.

With NTW, I think it was more no one really knew or cared about the character. Much like Angel Dust.

I do remember one poster, whose posts I can no longer read, wouldn't stop *****ing about Vanessa.

Ah fair enough.

Yeah, NTW was a pretty much a gag to X-Men fans who only showed up to die over and over in a handful of comics. Until the film I don't think she had any actual fans.

And by the way, regarding the white spot. It makes sense to not just have a black spot around her eyes just to keep the 'Domino theme,' and also it looks like the spot is caused by the same condition which made her skin all white in the comic books. So it's not like they were just being lazy. They're choices do make sense. Now if you like it or not, that's a whole 'nother story.

It's a pretty good live-action adaptation of the comic book look. The didn't make The Purple Man actually purple in Jessica Jones, either. And the look on Zazie's face in that pic - that's 100% the Domino I know from the comics: badass, confident and sassy.

The funny thing is, the one time in X-Men movie history where a black jumpsuit is supposed to be the characters look, is the one time they don't give them a black jumpsuit...

Do you see all those pouches? They definitely going 90's influence.

But given that the character has traditionally been portrayed with a non human skin pigment, her skin shouldn't be an issue.

That is exactly why her skin is an issue. Domino is not portrayed as caucasian in the comics, her skin is literally white. Mystique and Nightcrawler are blue, Gamora is green. There is much more precedence and expectation for a comic character with an inhuman skin color to retain that in the movie than there is for a normal looking human to retain their comic ethnicity in a movie, because realistic skin tones are common, but a character with literal white skin and a black spot over one eye is distinct.

I was super excited to see Domino's look realized in film, now I'm annoyed as hell. I guess I shouldn't have expectations when it comes to visual accuracy in a FOX Marvel movie, but they put so much emphasis on Deadpool himself being a dead ringer.

I don't care about Domino being played by a black actress outside the fact that I'm not head over heels about Zazie Beetz. My problem is that the skin isn't chalk-white, the spot on her eye isn't black and her hairstyle is afro - all of that makes this version of Neena barely recognizable. And I would be probably fine if this new take was an actual improvement over her typical comic book look, but it isn't...

Looks like she's worn more than just a black jumpsuit in the comics...

This is the one thing I completely disagree with you on, as a black spot would have done exactly the same thing. The contrast is there.

But this way they found a way to include the vitiligo AND have the Domino aspect come across better (by simply reversing the color scheme - white-spotted black dominos DO exist, after all).

Only it completely removes, it seems, the whole point of the casting choice. Giving her a white spot they accentuate her race. Means "the other" version of Domino is a white girl with a black spot.

I would be fine with given Ms. Beets the Harley treatment, but I'm not broken up that Leitch isn't. I just don't think the color inversion in her eye makeup makes sense given Zazie's skin tone. It is like they are going out of their way to avoid the comic book look, which is the exact opposite of what Miller did in the first one.

You do realize that the last two pictures are a black jumpsuit right? Just that one has blue on the sides... You can post all the pics you want of variations of her costume, but the fact of the matter is... Everyone wanted to see this...

And we got something that doesn't look anything like that... And it's disappointing because it's one of the easiest looks to pull off, it's not like it would have been difficult or possibly look silly (like Harley's Jester costume or Hawkeye, a male character, wearing a bright purple spandex suit)... Also the fact that her costume in the pic above works so perfectly with the very comic accurate suit they gave Deadpool, they visually go together so well that it's mind boggling why they decided to change it.

It bites that we'll never get to see a faithful Domino on the big screen.

I don't really see it as a color inversion. Domino doesn't look like a "white girl" with a black marking over part of her face.

I'm no hypocrite, so why should I have left the 'black jumpsuit' look out? My point was that she's had many different looks in the comic books, which are no less worthy than the one you prefer.

The fact that they took some elements from her other suits doesn't mean that they changed it or don't respect the source material. I really like the suit, and was positively surprised that they used some blue and purple, as well.
