Zoe Kravitz IS Catwoman

Julie Newmars catwoman didn’t have a whip and she was still Catwoman. Anne had claws (but Nolan made it her high heel and not fingers). Her goggles turned into cat ear shapes when up, being similar to Julie Newmars version. She’s Catwoman… she was one of the better parts of TDKR. Catwoman is more than just whip and nails. Returns version is nothing like the comics and she still is Catwoman. The same can be used with Anne, who was a very accurate Selina. The only Catwoman who I don’t really enjoy is Berry’s and that’s on the script writer and directors hands. She would have been good if she was given actual material to work with.

And yes, sex appeal is subjective.
Nah. All she really was is just stole. The whip and nails and cat puns is a big part of who catwoman is. Anne Hathaway was a bland interpretation. That’s good if she was catwoman to you but for me I thought she was just another woman in leather who could fight. She could be anyone. Don’t care if the goggles made ears that was silly and just a wink wink to the fans. All the other catwoman you named had distinct personalities and a love for cats and were playful.

I don't really get the love for Zoe in this. She's always been a fairly mediocre actress. Her breezy, kind of bored delivery probably works for Catwoman, but I find she does that for every role she plays. Of all of the actors in this movie, she worries me the most. Hope I'm wrong.

Matt is an amazing director. He’s very meticulous. He knows what he wants with Selena and he will pull it out of her.

I am a whole lot more interested in a potential Catwoman series or movie after this latest trailer.

I was always a big fan of Zoe and The casting but after this trailer I absolutely Need to see her again in a bigger capacity.
To me, spin off shows always seemed gimmicky but I trust Reeves with it. I mean, so long as the film is great, and reeves is overseeing spin offs as a way to expand everything, then I think it's a great idea. There's so much that can be explored of her character in a spin off that they may not be able to in a movie because of Batman and the villains. I think a Catwoman spin off is inevitable at this point and is likely the next one to be announced.

She's pretty good in both Big Little Lies and High Fidelity. Two completely different performances that don't lean into the "bored" thing people label her as.

Well when you say "her style works pretty well for Catwoman! But I don't think it works elsewhere"....ummm soo? Who cares about her other roles if it works for Catwoman?

Casting on-type can work as well as casting off-type. I've got no problems at all with what Zoe is doing so far, it just feels like Catwoman and it feels natural.

But I'll say, I think the off-type thing worked really well in cases like Heath Ledger and Anne Hathaway. Anne was still Anne, but she pulled off a more badass side that I'd never seen from her before and that made it extra delightful to watch because it was surprising and it felt like a new dimension to her as a performer. And Heath...obviously, just completely transformed into something utterly unrecognizable.

I think Colin Farrell's Penguin will deliver that "off-type", transformative thing in this film though, especially with that insane makeup.

From what I've heard, Colin Farrell owns every scene he's in as The Penguin and is just insanely entertaining. I have lots of high hopes for what he's gonna bring to that character.

farrell's penguin looks like its gonna be a fun character to watch based off the trailers so far.
of all the batman villains, penguin at least for me, has always sort of been the one you kind of cheer for.
like yea he's a bad guy, but then he's also a bit of the underdog and is trying really hard to make it to the top of the criminal food chain.

like you can imagine he was someone was bullied while growing up due to his appearance, but dude is calculating and intelligent, but people always underestimate him.

plus he's not a psychopath, he's just someone who wants to eat well and enjoy the finer things in life. but through crime. lol

I wonder what Penguins story will look like by the end of the Trilogy.

Same with Selina, this is crazily the only time that a Bat-Universe will have characters actually return and change and adapt. Besides Gotham this is the only time in Live-Action that Penguin and Catwoman will actually have multi-appearance arcs and thats just amazing IMO. Especially since it took this long.

Well, just going by her past work, I wouldn't expect a Catwoman played with much range. I have no doubt she can play the sultry side of Selena, but I can see this being a fairly one-note portrayal.

I dunno, I definitely got that vibe from her in Big Little Lies. I've only seen a bit of High Fidelity, mostly due to the whole thing feeling ill conceived.

OK COOL

ok man, you're far gone lol

Oh, give me a break, what's her great past work that would suggest she's going to give a stunning performance? Seriously, point out a great performance of hers, I'll wait.

I hope Selina is not a massive part of this movie. I think that's not how Catwoman works. She needs to be used very strategically and sparingly

Catwoman works good in stories like Long Halloween and Dark Victory, where she is a crucial element to the story but she is not there all the time. She doesn't overtake the story. Her relationship with Bruce doesn't overtake the story. I think that's how you should use Catwoman.
