Zoolander 2 Is Coming

So. Great poster huh?

HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGH.

Not normally a big fan but she looks hot as hell there!

There is nothing to be offended over in that trailer. Other than it obviously being Cumberbatch in a wig, all that happened was them asking a stupid question.

It isn't the responsibility of directors, writers, or whatever artist to censor themselves to spare the widdle feelings of trans girls.

I call them "trans girls" because they need to woman the hell up. I'm the first to point out legitimate transphobia, and given what I know from the trailer, there is none to be found here. It's simply questioning the model industry's gender-play, particularly androgyny. Questioning, or poking fun at, does NOT necessarily equate to the oppression of a minority. If anything, this movie is a reflection of our culture's growing pains, coming to terms with the fact that gender is nowhere near as rigid as once it was. If this movie offends you, that's OK, you don't have to watch.

It IS the responsibility of the transgender community to rise to the occasion by proving themselves as functioning members of society. Creating reactionary, asinine petitions will only make society resent us more than it already does.

I demand my right of self-expression, so long as it harms nobody around me. We can allow that much to the creators of this comedy.

As a trans woman... I promise that I will buy a ticket to this movie. And if there is a joke resembling smearing or hate-speech, then I'll complain then. I'll be its harshest critic if it turns out that this is everything the petitioners automatically assumed it is.

Pretty much. I just wish someone would've drawn on some thick eyebrows for Cumberbatch. :csad:

Just came back from this. Basically, it was a "business as usual" type follow-up that we've come to expect from these years-too-late comedy sequels. The opening, however, was hilarious, and there are quite a few great moments showing what happened to Zoolander and Hansel. Overall, it was a harmless sequel - if you liked the first film, you'll enjoy this. This was the same case as "Dumb & Dumber Too," except I think this stays truer to the tone of the original.

There were these annoying teenagers that were constantly on their phones and talking throughout though :cmad: That mostly ruined my enjoyment.

That opening with Justin Theroux grooving to Relax...

I found it strangely hypnotic. I also think it's cool that they brought minor characters like him and Todd back. I also understand that Milla Jovovich is reprising her role from the first film?

Wow the reviews are really bad. A zero percent so far after 11 reviews.

Good comedy sequels are possible (22 Jump Street) but you gotta keep it fresh, and not rely os much on the same running gags from the first film.

And to think I thought that this was going to give Deadpool a hard time at the box office. Now it looks like the opposite, unless a bunch of teenagers buy tickets to this and sneak into Deadpool instead. :o

It feels like the buzz really died out a few weeks back thanks to Deadpool.

It's a combination of that plus people aren't taking the bait of comedy sequels that are released years after the original anymore. It worked for Anchorman 2 and American Reunion, but I think Dumb and Dumber 2 torpedoed the trend.

Dumb and Dumber To actually made a lot of money too. This will be lucky to be that successful.

I think Zoolander's problem is they waited far too long to do the sequel. It was funny at the time it was released but it didn't have the pop culture presence of Anchorman to sustain a sequel so many years later.

To be honest, the first Zoolander didn't do so great at the box office. It had the misfortune of being released a few weeks after 9/11. I guess it became more of a minor cult classic on DVD in its own right.

22 Jumpstreet was a steaming turd.

Not realy. There's a reason it was so successful criticaly and financialy.

Yes really. It merely rode the fumes of a hilarious first film. This one was mess from the jokes to the plot and the overabundance of self-acknowledgement.

I like obnoxious, screwball comedies but it was an immature piece of trash. Just my humble opinion.

I completely disagree, i found it to be an incredibly fun satire on comedy sequels. The first half did take a bit too much from the previous film, but after that, the film took it's oun route.
