DC Animation ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’: Animated Series From Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves Greenlit

Hamish Linklater needs to step his game up because his performance as Batman was not it. Rino Romano was a much better Batman and Bruce Wayne.

The other problem with Caped Crusader is Batman was fairly unlikable and barely does anything for most of the season.

It's also okay if Batman is unlikable. Batman is a prick. Some versions push that too far but this one doesn't cross the line at all.
I’ve rarely found Bruce Wayne especially “likable” in comics or elsewhere. He works best as a bit of a d****e imo. I figured out a long time ago that I don’t need to like him to enjoy his stories.

Hamish was solid. I liked the way Batman was handled too. Burton also knew to respect Batman’s privacy to create anticipation and an aura whenever he did appear. I rank BTAS/Beyond and Brave and the Bold ahead of it, but Caped Crusader is some of the most atmospheric Bat content we’ve had in years.

I loved this show i dont understand why some people didnt like it i liked seeing the Golden Age aesthetic again i liked seeing the classic Golden Age Catwoman on the show i hope there is a season 2

From J. M. DeMatteis' recent newsletter:

The second season of Amazon's Batman: Caped Crusader is coming soon and I'm delighted to have contributed an episode to this terrific new interpretation of the Dark Knight mythos. (And, no, much as I'd love to, I can't reveal anything about the episode.) Here's hoping there's more Cape to come!

I need to get around to this - but I just am too fatigued of early-days Batman where he's still tripping over his cape and building his legend.

I feel like writers just cannot figure out how to make Batman/Bruce compelling when he's established and good at what he does.
