šŸ¤› Official UFC Thread - Part 8

Simple, Jose Aldo is a better boxer and kickboxer. Edgar didn't have an answer for Jose Aldo's legkicks either, and Aldo's legkicks are debilitating. Ask Urijah Faber. Chad Mendes is the only fighter I recall coming up with a strategy to neutralize Aldo's legkicks.

Also Demetrious Johnson undoubtedly one of the greatest MMA fighters to ever live. That finish was like a WWE 2K move. He did a German suplex into an armbar in mid-air.

Ferguson vs. Lee was awesome.

I think it was mostly the leg kicks, he didn't do the same number on Edgar's legs either time that he did on Faber's in WEC, my guess is though he hit him with a couple of them & that made him ultra hesitant because they hurt him so much.

DJ is an absolute beast, the reason he isn't at the top of everyones P4P list universally is because of the division he's in & the fact he has no direct rival, makes the division look weaker than it is.

Legkicks may not look like they hurt, but they definitely do longterm damage and mess up your rhythm. Aldo has some of the best legkicks in the game.

Oh I know they hurt for a fact, that shinbone is like a baseball bat, you never truly block any sort of kick, the best way to block a kick is to avoid it touching you completely anywhere. Even those knees in the clinch, that most people think do nothing, if they catch you on the sweet spot on your thigh you're gonna have trouble moving.

Apparently Kevin Lee's mark on his chest was a staph infection. Not sure how he was cleared to fight with that, but I dunno. Maybe it wasn't that serious, but not sure how the NSAC missed that. Or maybe they didn't and let it go ahead. Regardless, Kevin Lee did not handle his weight cut properly.

Tony Ferguson definitely got sloppy with his striking again, which I thought was a problem he had fixed in the past. Thankfully, his guard and grappling game off his back is pretty exceptional. That being said, Lee getting out of those early submission attempts, like the armbar was pretty impressive. If he does fight McGregor though, he can't keep his hands like that.

Demetrious Johnson pulling off that crazy armbar from like a German suplex slam was pretty impressive. Ray Borg clearly didn't belong in there with him though.

Normally, I'd think Fabricio Werdum is delusional for believing that his win over Walt Harris gets him a title shot against Stipe Miocic. But the heavyweight division is so thin right now, and there's like no clear cut contender for Miocic, they might just go ahead and book that rematch to get Miocic a fight for January or February maybe. And that's just because the timing of Overeem/Ngannou isn't great.

Video doing the rounds of the weigh in for Pancrase 290, they allowed him to fight.. after he had to be held up when weighing in. :wall:

Johnny Hendricks has had some bad weigh ins where they had to hold him up, I'm pretty sure.
It's a problem, but really it's the dudes cutting upwards of 20lbs that have issues. Can't be good for the kidneys.

Cowboy goat mangled by Darren Till, very impressive performance from him to do that to a veteran & legend. He certainly looks like the real deal both inside & outside of the cage, has the potential to be the next big thing if things can go his way.

There are some really nice fights for him at 170, Mike Perry is a decent shout if he can get past Santiago in December.. failing that he could make a leap up & fight some contenders/former potential contenders Maia, Thompson, Nelson or Masvidal.

Wow... what a performance from Rose Namajunas.

I did not picture her winning in the manner she did.

I think there's gonna be 3 new champs tonight. Go GSP!!!

I fully expect to see Cody & TJ fight again, that rivalry does not seem over at all.

GSP is officially back

George Rush St Pierre is the greatest of all time.

Michael Bisping just got his ass whooped by a 36 year old, moving up 15 pounds, bleeding everywhere, who hasn't fought in 4 years. :lmao:

Awesome! Bisping was only champ because Rockhold showed him no respect.

Fantastic card from start to finish. Had everything from highlight reel finishes, upsets to superb technique & skill on show.

Loving it. I'm a big GSP fan and was behind him all the way - win or lose ( no disrespect to Bisping, I always liked him and felt he brought a lot to the UFC). Still, to see GSP win in such emphatic style, it's great.

Caught the GSP v Bisping fight. Big up to my man GSP choking out that fool. GSP at Middleweight, oh what could've been with him Anderson Silva.

Dominick Cruz is out of his fight with Jimmie Rivera due to a broken arm.
And Frankie Edgar is out of his scheduled title fight against Max Holloway, also citing an injury.
