🄊 The Official Boxing Thread!!! - Part 5

Tyson was trying to end it first round. When that happened he was like ā€œ&@$? It. I’m going to move around a bit and get my paycheck.ā€

I don’t know that you could knock out anyone with those gloves. That was like a pillow fight.

This post summed it all up:

Serrano and Taylor, best fight of the night. Serrano was robbed. Despite having 3 eyelids by the end, she looked like she had the energy to go another round or 2 (or 3?) and Taylor looked gassed.

even the Barrios fight was better.

That Moses Itauma looks a very good prospect, very agile and fast for a heavyweight.

Similar story as the first, was a close competitive fight throughout but I think the judges got it right.

Uysk fought a clever fight, he stole a few close rounds simply on volume throwing particularly towards the end of the round. Even if they didn't find a way through Fury's guard, it still put Fury on the backfoot at the end of the round which visually looked worse for him.

As the fight went on Uysk's position only got stronger with his cardio, you'd think listening to people Uysk was small, he's a big man, he's just small compared to Fury & AJ who are massive. For a guy his size, I think he's like 6'3 & about 15 stone, he has good cardio keeping his output high until the end.

Yeah I thought Usyk deserved the win overall. He is such a good and clever fighter and he doesn't get the credit he deserves for that.

I'm very glad Usyk won again. He's been the best heavyweight of this era and has proved his skills at a lower weight where being 6'9 and having the weight/height/reach advantages that come with it don't apply. I don't think any of Fury/Wilder/Joshua would thrive if they were in a division with a ton of boxers with quality at the same size as them. There are just not too many people of that size who have good boxing technique, which is why someone like David Price can become a heavyweight boxer lol.

Tyson Fury retires from boxing – again – with cryptic Dick Turpin comment

Bivol Beterbiev 2 was another quality classic. These guys have so much more about them than the majority of the heavyweight division.

Zhang Agit was interesting.

Parker took out last minute opponent Martin Bakole with an overhand right to the top of the head.

Hamzah Sheeraz struggled on his world title attempt.

Some other good fights too, really good card even with Dubois having to pull out with illness.

Just saw George Foreman died. :csad: What a legend of boxing. RIP. So much more to him than modern heavyweights.
