🥊 The Official Boxing Thread!!! - Part 5

Eh, I had the cinnamon kid win by 2.

LOL at folks who still pay for this. All the HD streams are up live on twitter. I watched this on an HD feed for free.

Yeah, he didn't outbox him. The pressure got to Canelo, he got tired as usual, and GGG out boxed him. This wasn't a slugging fight, this was a boxing fight, and GGG won that.

He was easily outboxing him. He gassed and stopped working. Once he decided to start coming forward again he went right back to dominating him. GGG wasn't impressive at all, he hit Canelo flush multiple times and did no damage. Canelo's known for gassing, it reared its ugly head, it had nothing to do with being hurt or in trouble...

He stopped working because GGG used his foot work and technique to make him work like mad and Canelo got tired and started eating jabs. Is that not a part of boxing anymore? GGG didn't knock him down, he outworked, out punched and out pointed Canelo. Next thing you will say is McGregor was outboxing Mayweather until he got tired. :woot:

Not seeing a lot of Canelo won. Seeing a lot more GGG won, got screwed.

Canelo gassed on his own, as he's prone to do. At any point in that fight when he decided to stand and exchange, he dominated GGG, who looked horribly old and slow. I'm actually upset Canelo let this happen, he should've won that going away.

Old and slow and he still won the fight. :atp:

I'm with you, man. Anytime Canelo wanted to exchange he got the better part of GGG. GGG did look slower now tho. I gave this fight to Canelo by two rounds.

Well if you only want to engage once every three rounds after the first 2 and the last 3, I guess that means you won the fight. If it was so easy, why didn't he do it more? Why did he eat way more shots, even ass GGG looked older and slower?

That's like judging the fight on the mythical idea of what Canelo could have done, but didn't actually do. :funny:

I was good with the draw, but I could definitely see still giving Canelo the fight. He did all the meaningful work, even when GGG came forward he was missing a lot of those shots. Canelo just wasn't throwing anything back for like 5 rds, I thought he was better against gassing like that now, guess not...

If you miss but you land more anyways, what does it matter if you miss?

Son, he didnt do it too often cause GGG is still lethal af. I gave Canelo the first 4 rounds easy. And if it was all so clear why the judges all over the damn place? You can add all the conspiracies you want, but it still dont change that fact. I saw some of the showtime dudes have it 8 to 4 in favor of Canelo, while Lederman on HBO had it as a landslide for GGG. :oldrazz:

He definitely outworked him, he was not CLOSE to outboxing him. Canelo gave that fight away, if he did anything in rounds 5-8, it wouldn't have been close.

We all win tho! Hell of a fight. Rematch cant come soon enough. I leave Darth to fight my own personal score card and Devin Faraci at the same time.

That Draw was completely nuts! Canelo won 4 rounds exactly and that was it. GGG was the winner of this fight. That Lady judge clearly has a crush on Canelo and that last judge must've been watching a different fight cuz That Draw was bull!...No question.

This isnt the first time Adelaide Byrd has had dodgy scorecards. She also had Hopkins beating Calzaghe amongst other strange choices. There is no way in hell GGG only won 2 rounds.

I actually think a draw is fair. Golovkin was busier, consistently moving forward and he set the tempo. But Canelo did land some stunning shots. Great fight.

GGG was way more consistent with his power shots and was on Canelo like white on Rice!
Dude should've lost a point for that cheap shot too, as clever as it was.

I had Canelo winning by one round but not upset about a draw. Lederman's card was ridiculous as the 118 judge's score card. GGG was getting caught all night. I don't think they hurt him but he made no attempt to dodge Canelo's punches. I think he wanted to show that he could take them. Canelo had GGG missing numerous times. I think had Canelo not been gassed in the 5-6 round, he would have dominated but it's all water under the bridge now.

The most common score I am seeing is 8-4 GGG, with the likes of Lennox Lewis saying it was clear.

The scorecards of the two judges with eyes were very similar, outside of the 7th. GGG was winning rounds before Canelo "got tired".

No he wasn't. Canelo landing what, 5 punches in a round counts as "being caught all night", even as GGG was consistently out landing Canelo? What the hell. :funny:

But this is great, you had GGG as a bum. Even at 35, Canelo couldn't hurt him hitting flush and GGG outworked him, by a lot.

Oh boxing.. :funny:

More ****housery once again, I don't even think the fight was relatively close I had it 116-112 in favour of Golovkin & even that seemed generous. If you were being extremely generous, I could accept 114-114 or maybe even 115-113 Golovkin. However there's no way Canelo won that fight nevermind 118-110 which is an absolute joke in this joke of a sport. That type of scorecard is one of 2 things, severe & gross incompetence or corruption.

GGG outworked, outlanded & controlled the fight. It was fought at his pace which Canelo just couldn't keep up with despite being near 10 years younger, the only rounds that were close were the opening 3 rounds, then Canelo gassed & GGG took control. He had a brief 2nd wind in the 10th & 12th, but it was nowhere near enough given he'd been outworked, outlanded & walked down for the best part of 6 rounds on the bounce.

Not surprised though that there was controversy in this fight, not in the slightest.

Yeah, B nailed it. You basically have to remove 2 and half minutes of every round from like 3 on to give to Canelo. Canelo would land a couple good shots early, but then get easily out landed almost every round. Even in 10 and 12, GGG just did more work and he was landing. Why are some trying to act like he wasn't hitting Canelo. He was, a lot more then Canelo hit him.

None of those shots Canelo did land either seemed significantly better than anything GGG landed either which I've seen for some of the pro-Canelo arguments.

They were arguably a little more flash, but he didn't land enough of them to then justify awarding him rounds when his opponent was much busier & landing more in volume.

The pro Canelo crowd didn't hurt. They reacted to everything, even when he missed. I love how GGG throws. He didn't throw as fast as Canelo, but he throws just as hard if not harder and you could tell even the jab was a problem for Canelo. Even older and a bit slower, GGG was throwing the better shots imo. But hey two hooks/uppercuts a round when the other guy is actually throwing I guess count for more. :hehe:

I also think a lot of people got a narrative in their head after the first two rounds, that GGG couldn't keep up physically or in terms of skill. And then GGG turned it on, and Canelo wilted. All credit to Canelo for what he did, but yeah. GGG won that.

Seems like I missed a pretty good fight.
