I asked the same and watched the teaser again and noticed that MJ is wearing the same clothes as when she's lying on the ground with the ring beside her.
Maybe Brock is the one that smacks or shoves her to the ground???!!?

He will be angry, because he thought that she had some stuff with Eddie, and symbiote will show it.

It wouldn't be logical, if he did it before she met Eddie.

Besides there will not be Gwen. She with Pete and she will know nothing bad about him.

She will not ever meet MJ.

Tobey can play cold/dark Pete very well. You actually see a glimpse of that in the first movie as well. Well he coldly tells the wrestling promoter 'I missed the part where that was my problem.' and the scene where he breaks Uncle Ben's muderers arm.
