2008 Box Office Predictions & Discussions thread

TOP 3 Movies Of 2008

1. The Dark Knight
2. Iron Man
3. SATC

wildcard: Hancock

Um Dark Knight Yes Iron Man Yes SATC No. SATC will be Front Loaded people that wanted to see it has already seen it and it I don't think it will get that much repeat Viewings and Indy 4 is already past 200.

Wow, a lot of people will be disappointed. Everyone thinks Batman will get to the $300M range, I don't think it will.

I predict Indy WILL have a big drop. No way it will have legs like Iron Man. SATC will also not have legs like Iron Man.

Just like I said, SATC huge drop on Sat, and an even bigger drop on Sun. It won't be near any of the top contenders. Revise your list.

For Indy to drop only 54% after a $100 million weekend plus $25 million each on its Thursday opening and Monday memorial day is great. Just confirms to me it will be the #1 movie of the summer.

Sorry, it's going to take a lot more than that to be #1 movie of year. The legs just are not there. Don't forget about the impending competition, which IM didn't have to fight off really, with Caspian and Racer flopping. Now if the drop was below 50%, that's another story.

Indy losing to sex and the city on friday by about 14 million, and then beating it saturday and today makes me have confidence in its performance.

I'm actually surprised people think only the Summer Movies will be in the Top 3. What about Harry Potter 6 People? That for sure will atleast reach close to 300.

Exactly, Potter will probably blaze both Indy and Iron Man. A lot of Batfans have these mega hopes for TDK that wont pan out IMO and some Marvelites are praying for Iron Man to hold off Indy....Indy has no competition until Hulk in 2 weeks from this point.

Top Movies of the Year:

1. Iron Man
2. Indiana Jones 4
3. The Dark Knight
4. Harry Potter 6
5. Wall-E
6. The Incredible Hulk (If it has good WOM)/ Hancock
7. Hulk/ Hancock
8. James Bond
9. Madagascar 2
10. Mummy 3

Anyone who says SATC will make more than any of these is foolish, it's probably already made most of it's money & will sink behind IM next weekend.

TDK will make most of it's money because of Bat fans (I'm sure over half of the BM forums goers here will see it three times) & curious people about Ledger's death.

My predictions of this weekend:

1. Kung Fu Panda
2. Indy IV/ Zohan
3. Indy IV/ Zohan
4. The Strangers
5. Iron Man
6. Sex & The City
7. Narnia

My next weekend predictions:

1.) Kung Fun
2.) Zohan
3.) Indy
4.) SATC
5.) IM
6.) Strangers

5 and 6 could go either way

After 12 days Indiana Jones is $34 million ahead of Iron Man. Iron Man in its third weekend took in $30 million. Jones assuming another 50% drop or more should take in about $25 to $27 million. So Iron Man will knock off $3 to $5 million off Jones initial lead and Jones will probably begin lagging behind Iron Man's figure's in subsequent weeks.

However I think the $34 million cushion it currently enjoys should allow it to edge Iron Man. It might go down to the wire but I think Jones will still win.

Oh and Harry Potter is a lock for top grossing movie of the year when it comes out in November.

Maybe world wide, it's not definite for domestic.

I think Indy is going to be number one domestically but Harry Potter will win internationally.

BUMP

how high will dark knight go? I'm saying 130 million this weekend. And next weekend, if it can hold, I'm gonna say it drops only about 50 percent. which would(with weekday numbers and such) bring it to well over 200 million and on it's way to 300 very quickly.

Also what effect will this have on the x-files 2, stepbrothers, and mummy 3(the next semi-big films coming out in the coming weeks). will it crush them?

Will BAtman dust Indy and Iron Man?

Wake up thread!:brucebat:

Worldwide box office is all I care about and HBP is gonna mollywhop anything else out this year.

My guess is about $130-140m. And that would be hell a lot of money!

I don't see The Dark Knight blowing this one... It's going to be the number one grossing film of the year ($350 million+). Domestically of course... Worldwide will most likely be Mr. Potter.
