Does a good defensive game equate to a game sucking?

Keeping the Pats to 1 score in 3 quarters may not be as exciting as an offensive battle but I never was bored.

Also help that I actually was a fan of one of the teams and I just wasn't rooting for a team I liked more.

And kudos to Greg Gadson, honorary captain.

The Giants will have an honorary captain on their sidelines on Sunday - veteran of three wars and victim of a roadside bomb in the current Iraq war, Greg Gadson, now a double amputee.

Gadson was named Person of the Week by ABC World News on Friday, but he's been the person of the season for the Giants. West Point teammate of Giants WR coach Mike Sullivan, Gadson was asked by the coach to provide some inspiration before these Giants, then 0-2, played the Redskins in September. The G-men rallied from behind to win that game, the first of a six-game streak that got this season on track.

The Giants haven't forgotten about their inspiration. Plaxico Burress gave him his TD ball during the Packers playoff game, and Gadson has a prime location on Sunday.

He was on the sidelines for the Packers and the Superbowl while f'king Shockey was in the booth. :down

Actually, the Belichick moment that cracked me up the most was the post-game interview outside the Pats lockerroom. He looked like he was going to punch the interviewer at any moment and gave these very short, one sentence answers to the questions he was being asked. He wouldn't look at the camera or the interviewer and looked like it caused him intense pain when he had to basically compliment the Giants on their win. Haha!

I love it! Belichick is the worst sore loser in NFL, and watching him on the verge of losing his sanity after the huge upset pleased me to no end. :word:

Yeah it was a great defensive game throughout in which both team's defenses played well, just that the Patriots couldn't get the big stops right when they needed them.

Yeah, I saw Shockey in the booth and thought "WTF? Why isn't he down there with his teammates?". It's not like they were in sub-zero temperatures or anything. They were in freaking Arizona. No reason for Shockey to not be on the field other than he's a jackass.

Teams lose.

I root for the New York Knicks.

I have to hear the ridicule of being a Yankee fan.

I think Showtime is a good enough sport to not let it bother him.
O the curse of being a Yankee fan. :(

Hey, your Knicks are still better than my Sonics. Btw, that was a good game on Saturday night between the Knicks and the Sonics, wasn't it. :o

Who said that a good defensive game equate to a game sucking? Hell no! I much prefer a good defensive game and the Giants delivered. As "they" say, Offense Brings the Crowd but Defense Wins the Game.

CONGRATULATIONS NY GIANTS!

PS. Belichek is a stinkin' sore loser.

I thought Giants' defensive line, not Eli, was the true SB MVP. If they hadn't kept Pats' high-octane offense in check throughout the game (Pats only scored 14 pts, when their season average was doubled that), Eli won't have been able to make a comeback since he wasn't that effective against Pats' defense. Scoring 5 sacks against Brady (first time this season) was monumental.

I hope Boss takes his job. :o

Somehow, I get the feeling that Shockley is pissed off that his team is making the SB run without him, and actually doing better without his presence, and he just can't deal with it. Therefore, he decided to distance himself from his teammates.

Who said Moss wont resign?

And isn't it funny Eli found his stride after he was gone. :o

I am going to repost what I wrote in the Super Bowl thread...

I want to congratulate the Giants. Their front four played lights out and Brady was rushed the entire game. I think the Giants front four was the key to the game but the Giants coverage in the secondary was also impressive. I think the Giants were able to stop the rush and force the Patriots to pass which in turn allowed them to tee off on the Patriots weakened offensive line. Heck of a defensive game plan.

The Patriots defense played pretty damn well the entire game, however they made some mistakes in the secondary and missed tackles which definately hurt them. Samuel missed an interception on the sideline that was a big key play, Hobbs blew the coverage on Burress on the game winning TD, up to three Patriots missing the sack on Manning on the game winning drive. These old men certainly looked old.

The Patriots offense was off key all night long up what seemed to be the game winning drive. The star of the offense all night was Wes Welker and Kevin Faulk made some key plays out of the backfield. Tom Brady was not Tom Brady. It was a valiant effort, but he was misfiring all night long. You can certainly credit the Giants defense with making Brady miss. Where the heck was Muroney all night? He had a kick return and then disappeared into the Giants front seven.

Now for the Giants offense, they showed up when it counted. Eli Manning looked Bradyesque on both TD drives. They made more big plays than the Patriots. They didn't abandon the run and complimented the run with the pass when applicable. Kudos to Manning who I have been killing all year long on the boards and otherwise. He was the Giant's "Giant Killer". I am thoroughly impressed with him now.

To me this tarnishes the Patriots season. Sure they wen't 18-0 going into the Superbowl, sure they shattered records. I understand that Brady broke the record for most touchdowns thrown in a single season. I understand Moss broke the recored for most touchdowns receiving in a single season. None of that matters though because they lost the Superbowl. That is how I feel, and I know that is how (The Patriots) feel. They will now be considered by some, including me, the 2nd best team of the 2007 season. The best team in the league being the Super Bowl Champions...New York Giants.

Congrats to the fans on the boards and the fans abroad. The Giants earned it and you fans deserve it.
You're a classy guy, Show and that's why I love you. If only Belichek could've said the same thing.

I still consider the Patriots to be a great team but they weren't the best team on the field last night. The best team is the team that beat a great team with an undefeated record; the NY Giants.

I didn't say a good defensive game sucks, but there were stretches were nothing happened, no big defensive stops or anything.

Im sure it does help:cwink:

even though i hate the giant......gotta give em credit

They fought hard through 3 tough games. week 17 against new england, Tampa, Dallas, Green Bay and now new england. they've had some tough games recently and they won em all (except week 17 of course)
So good on you NYG

Thanks Bella.

They are a great team, but the Giants were the best team this year. I agree.

I wouldn't say best per say...but they did win the superbowl so.....

I hope NYG v NE will become a big rivalry. I mean really big....

Bob Costas was the only one who picked the Giants out of Carter, Collinsworth, Marino.
