2008 Razzies

No, he's not. Nor is Speed Racer the worst movie or Will Ferrell the worst actor. But the Razzies are no longer about what is truly the worst. It is about what can get the Golden Rasberry Foundation the most attention by bashing the most high profile actors they can think of.

For example, notice how Julie Benz went unnoticed despite God awful performances in Rambo, Saw, and The Punisher...yet Zooey DEschanel who was relatively harmless despite a bad script gets a nomination. Why? Because no one knows who the **** Julie Benz is. The Razzies are no longer about mediocrity. They are now the likes of TMZ. They call out the highest profile actors they can get away with in order to get attention. Nothing more, nothing less.

Agreed, but... to be fair, Julie Benz didn't have much to work with in any of those movies. She's really good on Dexter; her character is a complicated one and she pulls it off nicely. Her performances in those crapfests more likely have to do with the fact that they were simply bad movies.

This is what usually happens when good TV actors try and do movies. Take Julian McMahon, for example. He's brilliant on Nip/Tuck, but watch him in Fantastic Four or that stupid Premonition movie and you want to puke. It's not really because he's bad, but because it's very, very difficult to create a good character when the writing and direction is as piss-poor as you can get.

Disaster Movie and Meet the Spartans should make a clean sweep in all of their nominations. Seriously, Uwe Boll has been bested for worst director ever. And I really don't get the love for Will Ferrell. He deserved that nomination for Step Brothers, hands down.

Now I really don't get the hate for Indy 4 and XF-2 (as well as Tom Cruise in Valkyrie). Maybe it's absurdly high expectations from the fans, but I dunno.

That's usually what it boils down to.

Try to come up with something more original and mature than the rolly eyes just because someone disagrees with your godawful statement.

I'm not arguing whether the movie was good or bad, I was just calling you out using the term "of all time"....which is a major exaggeration.

Yes the scenes were over the top but to say "of all time" means that it's worse than every movie ever made in the past up 'til now.

Oh Christ, get over it. I was saying something in my opinion on a public forum. Everyone must speak so exact to people like you, thats how you think you can win an arguement by nitpicking at everyone like they state factual evidence. Worst movie or best movie is SUBJECTIVE anyway! In my opinion, *ahem*, it has the worst action scenes in the most disappointing movie of my life. Now, go bug someone else.

Bug off. This is a forum where people speak opinions and I stated that it had some of the most rediculous action scenes of all time in my opinion. And I made references. And I guess cause of your "maturity" I can't use an item that is accessible that everyone else uses cause you think so.

:whatever:I'll roll my eyes at someone that calls a statement god awful when that seems a little more disrespectful than using an option given on the screen that most if not all users have used. The smilies are there for a reason. DEAL WITH IT.

The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor should have been on that list.

Maria Bello is hot & all but she should have been nominated for worst actress in TOTDE.

Yeap, they should be up for worst CGI too with the yetti beast they had in the movie.

This phrase alone summed up The Mummy 3 to me: "Here we go, again." Not to mention the second movie didn't warrant a sequel.

Oh, hands down. IMO, that is one of the worst film series' in recent years. All three of them have been extremely meh to me.

Worst Actor: Wahlberg in The Happening
Worst Movie: The Happening
Worst Actress:Jessica Alba in anything
Worst Coupled stars: Nic Cage and his hair Bankok Dangerous
Worst Sequel: Indiana Jones 4, that's the last straw Lucas.

Pretty much all these picks, besides Cage, are based on how disappointing they were and/or how disappointing the performances were.

I can't believe people defend Indy. It had the most over the top rediculous action scenes of all time.

So? The other films have over the top action scenes too you know. Oh, that's right, it's because of the aliens. :whatever:

I thought as much, I mean dam I know people have it in for him nowadays but I still think his awesome. I couldnt care less about his private life and how many couches he jumps on just as long as he keeps doing what he does and continues to make good movies.

Nope, it's because the story was bad. The one liners were bad. Returning his x-fling was bad. Mutt Williams was an annoying greaser. Having an hour of action scenes like the ones I already described is why. And the aliens idea wasn't bad it was the fact that they wrote Mutt in when Sean Connery turned it down. That's the problem. Let it die I say.

Oh, ofcourse your defending it your names doctor jones. Atleast I can admit that X3 sucked no matter I'm a fan or not.

But I loved Indy 4. Are you telling me that if I name myself after something and when the film doesn't turn out well, I would be considered a real fan to bash it?

How do you know Mutt was written in for Connery? Do you have proof? Quotes?

Fair enough to the rest, that's your opinion. But I don't think it deserves a Razzie because the film was dissapointing to some. I think that's the main reason.

Or in the words of Tugg Speedman: "Here we go, again... AGAIN." :woot:

am i the only one who sat thru postal? for what it was, it was quite enjoyable.

No, you can love it. :yay: That's fine. But people keep trying to explain to me why I should like it. As a dedicated fan I can honestly say I didn't like it. Movies are the same as music. People dislike eachothers styles for different reasons.

I can't deny that other movies had O.T.T. scenes but I will not deny that I felt the scenes in Indy were too much for me. It was voted the most rediculous scene in a movie on Yahoo's front page for the fridge scene so obviously I'm not alone. But if you liked that, and apparently 70+ percent of critics did too, then that's okay. I'm just never gonna like it.

No but Connery turned it down and then the rumor after Connery turned it down and it was rewritten all of a sudden people knew Indy's son was in it. Do I have proof? How could I have proof if there was no evidence to it. All we got is what happened. Connery said no. The script was rewritten. Mutt shows up. He could have been in that script as well but I think they would have rather had Connery.

I am not saying it deserves a Razzie anyways. Did you see my posts for worst movie. It's The Happening.

Difference of opinion is what's right with the world.

But for me Indy 4 FTW.

Jeez, Tom Cruise nominated again? Ugh.

Oh, hands down. IMO, that is one of the worst film series' in recent years. All three of them have been extremely meh to me.

The first Mummy movie was actually good. But it was the first movie and everyone seemed to have fun in that one, besides Rachel Weitz was terrific (she phoned it in in the sequel, not that I can blame her).

Stallone? Tom Cruise? Razzies fail. They fail hard. In fact why the **** do they even have them anymore?

Will Ferrel was hilarious in Step Brothers. That movie is my favorite comedy in years.

I thought Indy 4 was good for the fact that a bunch of senior citizens returned to make a sequel to one of the best adventure trilogies of all time.

And the only reason Tom Cruise was nominated was because they're looking at personal life instead of his actual work.

Why the hell are there 30 movies nominated?

**** the Razzies. Tom Cruise did a really good job in Valkyrie. It seems that the nominations every year are getting lamer and lamer. It's more about which actors were in the tabloids more this year than the actual movies and acting. Lame. :down
