2009 MLB Thread, part 2

Yeah. He's got CC's ass on a plater everytime he faces him. I'd imagine Posada and CC better change up the plan or simply avoid him if he can.

I get that Blanton is supposed to be the "scrappy" performer, but he just seems like he does NOT belong in a WS game

Yeah, that's a real fair thing to say. If you're a Yankee fan I guess.

They're wary of A-Rod. It's foolish to suggest they hit him on purpose as to not have to deal with him.

The Series is on the line and all you can throw out is the immortal Joe Blanton. I get that you need game five, but to pair Blanton with C.C may come back to bite them. Now the Yanks will have the luxury of putting Burnett on full rest.

No they won't. Burnett is starting Game 5 on short rest.

And oddly enough, Burnett was 3-0 with an ERA of 1.62 on 3 days rest this past season.
I think thats why they are going with him

He's a better choice than throwing Pettitte on short rest. He's their best option, but as we've seen, he's just as capable of giving up 4 runs before he records an out. He's just that unpredictable.

Girardi is an idiot if he doesn't make the change to Gaudin. I love Pettite but at this point in his career you can't bank on same old Pettite on a short break. And Burnett on the road is no better than Gaudin. And C.C will be on three days again would he not? It's a stupid move.

Well, yeah, the entire reason they're doing any of this is so Sabathia can pitch three times. Otherwise, Gaudin would have started tonight and everyone would have pitched twice on normal rest.

Course, if the Yankees win tonight, it all becomes pretty moot.

You can still have C.C three times regardless. Why risk Pettite on short rest? I get that he's been solid in those spots but its just too much of a gamble. All your guys on short rest to close out the series? It's a bad move. God Forbid they slip up tonight, Phillies are back in the driver's seat. I think game 3 gave you the luxury to go back to the regular rotation.

I think Pettite can pitch on 4 days rest

Howard finally getting a hit. Bout time.

Howard didn't even touch home plate. Jeez.

Why is it so hard for the umpires to get the freakin' call right!?!?! :cmad:

Matt Holliday style.....Howard would have gone back had the ump not called him safe.

I don't think that's reviewable, though.^

Damon's single would have been a HR at Yankee Stadium.
