Tough to say what will happen to Pettitte. Sure he's been successful before, but he's also been rocked before. His previous numbers mean about as much as Burnett's record on 3-days rest. It really depends more on if Howard and Rollins remain as ineffective as they have.

Dude 2003 Marlins is the worst world series ring in history...what the hell were they thinking.

1953, 2004, 1976, 1963, 1979, 1985, 1996 are the best of the lot

2003, 1973, 1992, 1993, 2001 are the worst

interesting to note, they awarded pendants and clocks also up till 1926.

We'll just have to wait and see. I've got to say though, I don't see Pedro making the Yankee hitters look like goofs again. I think they'll make the adjustments that need to be made.

Oh and they need to hit him early. Don't let him get into a groove.

Girardi sabotaged his own team. He did one of the most idiotic moves I have ever seen by pitching AJ on short rest in a series he was leading, not trailing! Not only does he lose AJ but it creates a domino effect on the rest of the staff. Why the hell should he have any faith in Andy on short rest when he hasn't done that in 3 years. The Phillies will destroy him. AJ on regular rest in game 6 wins that game 100%. But I guess Girardi is the genius right. He always has to prove how smart he is with his 100 pitching moves a game, and now this.

Girardi deserves to be fired when the Yanks lose this series. He won't but he deserves to be.

You're only assuming what would happen. How do we know that Burnett would have pitched well in game 6? If Burnett had pitched well and won the game, it would have been a brilliant move. If Burnett had pitched well and the offense didn't score any runs, it still would have been a good move. In this case, Burnett pitched awful and Girardi is getting heat for it. I still stand by his decision to start Burnett on 3 days rest.

Girardi was screwed no matter what he did. If they won, he'd look like a genius starting Burnett/Gaudin. He lost, so he looks like an idiot (which he is but that's besides the point). I'd rather lose starting my best pitcher available on the mound than a long man. If anyone should be criticized, it should be Cashman for not giving Girardi a 4-man rotation to work with.

Flawless is on the money as usual. Joba was their guy. They ****ed him up completely. 8 days rest, two innings, then five innings, then 3 innings. Never in my life have a seen a young pitcher micromanaged to that extent. At some point you just have to say, "You're the guy" and stop worrying about and extra month of wear and tear. It's all a moot point because A-Rod and the offense will bail Girardi out, but I'll be shocked if Joba is anywhere near his former self in spring training. I think we have a better shot seeing Hughes in the fifth spot. I mean is Cashman supposed to bring in another 60 million dollar fifth starter? I think Hal has him on a leesh, otherwise he would have traded for Cliff Lee and Halladay.

^I called this as soon as Girardi announced AJ as his game 5 starter. I knew it would be a wasted effort to use him, didn't think he would be that bad though, and tonight Pettitte will get lit like a Christmas tree. Tonight is batting practice for the Phillies.

Girardi just handed the WS over to the Phillies on a silver platter and Phillies will take full advantage of his moronic move.

If Phillies pushed this series to 7 games, I fully expect Cliff Lee to pitch, probably as a reliever replacing Liege.

I agree, which is why I'll be ignoring any statements about starting Gaudin. This one ESPN said they should have started Gaudin for game 5, and then Start AJ for game 6 and Pettite for Game 7, and then said have CC in the bullpen for game 7. That's basically saying to me you'd start Gaudin over CC, which he probably didn't mean, but that's how it sounds, and it is insane.
