2009 MLB Thread, part 2

This WS was just as crappy as the ones the recent ones. Other than Game 1 the pitching was crappy. The hitting was on-and-off. Only difference is it took 6 games to finally end.

I'm probably not going to post again tonight in this thread since it'll just be frontrunning fans posting "YANKEES WIN!!!"

It's like the Phillies barely force a game six and people coin it the next Don Larsen/56 series.

I don't know why you continue to deepthroat Abreu when he absolutely **** up the joint in October. He is a LOSING player. I get that you need that production to make the playoffs, but your division is terrible. Wake me up when someone decides to spend money in that division or actually holds onto their chips in the farm system. Besides, how did those clowns in Oakland pan out for Billy Beane? Not that they cost a lot of money but still...

I'm not a Yankee fan. I don't crucify a player who had an exceptional season because he didn't have a good week.

I also find it funny that people keep saying the AL West is the worst division when they had a winning record against the AL East. A big winning record.

At least then we can get this thread closed, start the 2010 one, and forget any of them exist (at least until the next ALCS, assuming the Yankees are in it).

Well if the Phils do lose, which looks likely now since Utlet striked out, we still had a great season and can possibly comeback next year for another go around at the WS.

Baltimore and Toronto... :wow: And the Rays were still hung over from their run last year. Look Texas had a good year I'm not denying that. But it was probably a fluke. They will trade most of those players in no time.

Can't wait for the playoff predictions... Ima say, Yankees, Angels, Red Sox??? Nah... damn I suck at this stuff.

Which might be a good point to make if the Red Sox hadn't had a losing record against every AL West team. Aside from the Yankees, they pretty much all did.

Besides, that kinda proves my point. The AL West doesn't have as many bottom feeders to beat up on.

Anybody think the Twins will be better next year?...Once again I see the Braves only being a challenge against us for the NL East....And maybe Marlins...MAYBE!

The Mets will be competitive again. They had a perfect storm of injuries this year. That type of rotten luck doesn't happen all the time. This series showed how shallow the Phillies' pitching is.

You can't quantitate it like, "Oh my division kicked the Red Sox asses... we ROCK!!!" You are what you are. And your teams collapsed at the end much like the Sox and Rays.

Yeah, the Mets have too many good players to not at least be competitive. As long as they can keep their Disabled List payroll below 100 million, they should be fine.

By that same token, you can't say the AL East is so much better just because they have the Yankees. One team doesn't make them a great division.

Well yeah for the most part we got by on our hitting....But we do have good pitchers in Lee, Hamels(who just did not show up this year, but can bounce back next year), Happ and still old man Moyer...Though we do need a closer cause Lidge was just a one hit wonder in 08, and hopefully Martinez has few years left in him.....We will be back next year as contenders again.

The Phillies will be competitive again but they're not really far and above any other NL team.

Well I know that especially since our pitching is average at best.....But we can still make it back to the WS....Nice to know though 60% of the city does not care Phils lose this series tonight.

Make 30 million a year and I bet even you can get someone better looking than Kate Hudson.:cwink:

I've seen some girls on campus better looking than Kate Hudson.
