2009 MLB Thread, part 2

Don't tell New Yorkers what sports to like. It has and forever will be a baseball town. Tons of people up here who can care less about that other sport.

Doesnt help that they play in East Rutherford, NJ. Only if the Jets got that deal for the stadium on west side

haha I am so happy people are booing Joe Buck...YES! So beautiful...Where did Tim Mcarver go? That loser and the biggest yankee hater

Not getting on you per say, I just feel for the Met fans and even the Red Sox fans that have to deal with the Yanks from a neutral perspective and as a Met fan. Unfortunately there is no solution to fans of only one sport, especially one like baseball. Thankfully I am a fan of almost everything and watch everything. My hockey needs work though.

I put 880 on in the 9th just to hear John Sterling make that last call. It was sweet.

Wow, watching the inteview with Charlie Manuel, he is a really classy guy. Phillies are a great team.

What's so manly about liking a sport with a bunch of guys tacking each other? :o

Charlie Manuel might be classy yes, but I hate hearing him talk. The whole farmer hic thing doesn't do it for me.

I like Charlie alot...If im not mistaken, I think his team beat the yanks back in 1997.

Hes a real likeable guy, but his team needs pitching bad.

Lee, Happ, then who else?

Hamels is a joke now...Probably will be ridiculed like crazy

Yeah, he's been doing the Fox pre and postgame. How did you not know?

First year of the original stadium. Won World Series.
First year after the reconstruction. Lost World Series.
First year of new stadium. Won World Series.

It's funny, they already have the championship gear available on MLB.

Statistical trend of the century. Time to reconstruct the new stadium then tear it and build another one in 2011. Just playing with you though... :cwink:

It doesnt get any better then this. This is why its GREAT to be a die-hard fan. The casual fans--who just start watching in the playoffs--they dont and CANT understand how WE feel right now.

We follow this team non-stop all season. We get excited about FA signings and trades--we criticize them and/or get excited about them. We analyze the team. We count down the days till pitchers and catchers. We watch meaningless ST games, and get excited when kids who will be playing in AA or AAA have nice games....We are excited for Opening Day, and go insane when the Yanks lose and CC has a bad start (it happened this year lol) we get upset when guys go on the DL, and analyze what moves should be made to replace them. We start threads about guys we should trade for an endlessly debate them. We complain when Girardi mismanages a game, whether its a pitching change or maybe he bunted someone when he shouldnt have. We live and die with every game---whether its April 10, June 7, or November 2. We follow the division race against our archrival Red Sox. We remember the great regular season moments...such as Posada walkoff against Fuentes, ARod's HR in his first AB back vs Orioles, the three straight walkoffs vs Twins in May, Rivera's 500th save vs the Mets, Jeter passing Gehrig, the 15-inning classic vs Boston, Damon and Tex going back to back to complete the Red Sox sweep in August, and so many others. We also remember some of the tough losses and some of the early season doubt we had. But thats what makes it great to be a big fan....you experience the day in and day out of the season. Then of course everything that happens in the playoffs and in the WS.

not surprised at all after they signed all three guys, i new it was bound to happen
