Being suspended from the NFL when your serving a jail sentence at the same time isn't the same thing. He had no option of playing because he was in jail.

I consider the two to be the same.

I think you're being ridiculous. Lets put it this way, if Michael Vick never served a day in prison, he probably would have been suspended for a year minimum anyway. Being in jail is being suspended. There is nothing else to debate here.

Exactly

ESPN Power Rankings

Steelers have to be number one, but I think Philadelphia is too high and Tampa is far too low. I don't know how anyone can place Kansas City that high either. KC and STL should be 31 and 32 in some order.

I think Washington and Houston will be play off teams, so I disagree about those as well obviously.

this all started in the off season, by time the season started he was in jail if im not mistaken....did the NFL officially suspend him??

Yes.

QFT.

Trying to penalize the guy even more is just cruel. Again, put yourself in his shoes. If you slaughtered a couple of animals (which, again, I detest, as an animal lover), and you served your time in prison, wouldn't you say, "Look, I've paid my debt, let my life return to normal"? I'd guarantee 99.99% of us wouldn't say, "I deserve that, I'll go work at McDonald's for another year.

It's pretty ignorant not to empathize with a human being. Sure, what he did is disgusting, but he's still human. He's paid his dues, he's giving back to society what he can. Let it go.

Bingo.

Pats are clear #1 with Steelers 2. Phily, Minnesota, and Atlanta round out my top 5.

I am shocked, SHOCKED! :wow:

Vick will probably get reinstated into the league. Whether a team actually wants him and makes a trade for the Falcons (who still have him under contract) is another thing.

If he does play football professionally, it could be in another league

Every NFL player represents the NFL, to the general public and media....you can't put across the image that the NFL endorses any kind of heinous behavior...any one of us would be out on our ass at our current job if the same thing happened to any of us....why should the NFL be any different???

I think the Steelers are the clear #1, especially considering the strength of their defenses the past two years. The only real hole they have is the O-Line, but with as big, strong, and hard to take down as Ben is, it's notas bad as it could be.

I think it'll be:

AFC Champtionship Game:

Steelers vs. Pats or Titans

NFC Championship Game:

Falcons vs. Vikings

I don't know about you, but I have yet to meet anyone who associates the NFL with "murder" (OJ or Ray Lewis, whether or not they're innocent), guns going off (Plaxico and Marvin Harrison), or dog fighting (Vick, obviously). Allowing a player to return to the league is hardly endorsing dog fighting, and that's just an ignorant assumption to make. Goodell will no doubt take the idea of Vick's jail time serving as a suspension into his mind, and he rightfully should. To me, it just sounds like you're being aggressive, hateful, and expressing a refusal to step into someone else's shoes.

if MLB is willing to let guys like Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds sit home merely based on allegations, I don't expect the NFL to be any different if Vick is reinstated....the NFL is a business, and Vick does generate interest, I just don't expect the line to be too long for his services

You can't really refer to someone as ignorant because they don't agree with you. Some people feel stonger about the subject then you do, it doesn't make them ignorant.

The NFL is not the MLB, and does not have to be subject to the same rules- especially since they're obviously not governed as well as the NFL is.

It's not because he doesn't agree, it's because he's basically putting it as, "He should never be allowed to do anything again," and basically saying he's not subject to human rights, despite the fact that our justice system has punished him extensively already.

No one is saying he shouldn't be allowed to do anything again. It's just that he shouldn't be guaranteed a spot in the NFL.

I did NOT say that....Ive said repeatedly that he is certainly entitled to make a living, just not in the NFL....he can get a regular 40-50 hr a week job, just like the rest of us

And that's up to the GM or owner who decides to take a chance after his reinstatement. Right now, I don't see any team jumping up and saying "I'll take Vick"

I believe the Pats-assuming they all stay healthy-will be virtually unbeatable once again. Their passing game speaks for itself, and theyhave a potential 3 headed monster of a rbs tandem with Maroney, Taylor, and Morris.

I never doubted that for a second. I think that it would be wrong the NFL to not reinstate him. Whether or not a team takes him, that's completely up to the teams.

And I think there are a lot more teams scoping him out than there are not. The guy's a talented dude, and with the right management/direction (I.e., a coach like Bill Belichick), he could be "return to glory".

But that defense is older than sin.

A team was willing to let Pac Man have a second chance. Michael Vick can find a home in the NFL.

Are you telling me Al Davis would be bothered taking a player with Vick's past?

Vick lost his job...as QB of the Atlanta Falcons. Just as many people who have embarrassed themselves have been rehired years later by someone else, Vick can do the same.

There is a local TV weatherman in my town who has been arrested and promptly fired for cocaine several times. He just recently got rehired as a weatherman for another as a weatherman. How that any different?

It's not as bad as it could be until Ben gets injured. Which he has a history of. Roethlisberger, Super Bowl aside, had a very average year - he needs to step up his game in the regular season next year.

My May Prediction:

AFC Championship Game:

Texans @ Patriots

NFC Championship Game:

New York @ Arizona

You are making THAT comparison? :lmao:

You can't compare cheating to Dog Fighting...like at all. The actions Clemens and Bonds are alleged to have taken apart hurt the integrity of the game they play - dog fighting does not.

Bonds and Clemens are also dinosaurs.

I did NOT say that....Ive said repeatedly that he is certainly entitled to make a living, just not in the NFL....he can get a regular 40-50 hr a week job, just like the rest of us

That's not up to you to decide.

Well, Al doesn't know what the hell he's doing anyway.
Perhaps, but he doesn't have to. He owns a team, so he can hire Vick. And I really think he will.

JaMarcus Russell will make Michael Vick a real possibility in Oakland.

And the only people who have to decide are the owners of teams. If no one is willing to take a chance with Vick, provided he gets reinstated, then that's the way things go.

Obviously. I just don't think there is any chance that will happen.
