Saw this on Rotoworld:

Haven't really followed Witherspoon since joining The Rams. Good move...better then what they had.
I cant understand that move by the Rams, I mean why give up one of their best players on the defensive side of the ball for a guy nobody has ever heard of.

Belichick was actually pretty nice to Galloway; he waited to cut him until he could collect his entire years salary from NE as hes beena vet since forever, and he gets to pick whereever he goes now too.

The St. Louis Rams is just a sinking ship right now.

It's a great move for Philadelphia, and not a bad move for the Rams. The receiver may not be a "big name", but he made a big splash before the season. If he was playing on a team without such tremendous depth, he may have been a contributor this season.

It also helps the Rams from a Salary Cap perspective.

The Rams are an extraordinarily young team and Witherspoon would likely be past his time when the Rams were a competitive team.

I honestly don't want Bill Cowher coaching Carolina. I fear it would be George Seifert all over again. More often than not, when old, Super Bowl winning coaches leave there first team, sit out a few years, and then resurface with a new team down the road, it blows up in there face. And I know that Cowher isn't really "old", but how long would he really stick around? He has already retired once, for whatever reasons. Plus, I'm envious of all the young, fiery coaches around the league. The only older coach I would want is Marty Schottenheimer, because damnit I love Marty and I want to the team he wins his ring with.

On a side Panther note, I love the Tank Tyler trade. I'm still furious we gave away next years 1st for a guy in Everette Brown who may or may not be just a situational pass rusher. Now, if Brown becomes the next Mike Rucker, which I have seen flashes of, I will be fine. Anyway, I wanted Tyler back in the 2007 draft. The guy is a 24 year old run stuffer with tons of upside and ability. We always whiff on late picks anyway, so this deal is awesome.

You can't compare Bill Cower - a man who built a franchise, with a guy like Seifert who inherited Walsh's team.

The franchise already existed before Cowher took over, since Chuck Noll preceded him

I liked Gibson a lot....also a little concerned that Witherspoon got carted off this weekend.

Really? :wow:

The situations are still completely incomparable. Cowher's Super Bowl came at the end of his rein, the team that won had nothing to do with Chuck Noll. Cowher also was a veteran of the free agency era, something that was new during Seiferts 49er career.

The comparison between Seifert and Cowher is incredibly faulty.

With these guys avaliable:

- Bill Cowher
- Mike Shanahan
- Mike Holmgren
- Brian Billick
- John Gruden
- Tony Dungy

All except Billick and Dungy will be sought after. And teams will probably find a way to circumvent the Rooney Rule when they call up Tony Dungy and ask him one question: "Do you have any interest in coming back?" to which Dungy will say "no" and that will be their one Rooney Rule interview.

I think Cowher goes to Carolina. I think Snyder will seduce Gruden. Holmgren will probably end up in Big D. Shanahan is holding his chips for San Diego/Dallas if he's smart although I am not sure what the relationship is there with AJ Smith. Probably not good if I had to guess, but there is a rapport there with Jerry. I just think the egos will get in the way there. I got a wild card for Shanahan though, how about the Texans? If Kubiak goes 8-8 there I'd consider making a splash at the top.

Jacksonville is withering and dying away. I don't see why big names would want that job now. Gruden in San Diego works though. He can handle the pre-Madona's on that team as he did in Oakland and Tampa.

Jacksonville needs a coach like Bil Cowher....And like Gruden in San Diego....Proably can get them over the hump to a SB victory....Brian Bellick good for Oakland they need discipline.....Also like the Eagles to get Holmgren....He could actually get us a ring...Not to fund of Andy Reid anymore.

Jacksonville is garbage. Plus they will never spend big money to bring FA or high profiled assistants there. Houston is the better market with a brighter future. And Homlgren in Philly just doesn't work. Why bring in a guy that your current coach worked under for so long?

Not really. I mean they could but I just think two NFL teams is the limit in that state, even in Florida. Orlando overlaps too much with Tampa. There is always L.A but that would **** up the allignment. They are pretty much stuck where they are.

Seriously? Noll left the team in shambles. Cowher rebuilt it. He won divisions, made playoffs, even a Super Bowl run with no quarterback until the very end of his career. He had no receivers for that matter either. The man rebuilt the franchise.

I miss seeing The Jaw on the sidelines, looking like he was about to have an aneurysm because of some player mistake or a lousy ref call. :(

I feel the same way about Cowher's run in Pitt as I do about Reid's current run in Philly. You just have to stick with him and give him another shot to prove himself again should this nucleus continue to falter, which it looks like it will. Keep him there well after McNabb is retired or out the door. Not Reid's problem that his star players consistently come up flat in the big game, and it's not just McNabb. I say give Reid a chance to rebuild, sort of like how the Titans stuck with Fisher, even though the Titans are **** now, he still had that franchise in the right direction after the McNair years.

Reid is going to want an extended contract. I'm not sure Eagles fans would want Reid there for another 3 years at the minimum.

To be fair, everyone from the 70's Steelers retired. The players that took over didn't perform to that standard, and I don't think they drafted anyone of significance in that time. Noll was the head coach, but he wasn't drafting players, signing players, and trading players.
