There are several teams who are in dire need of a new stadium, and LA will not only provide a new state-of-the-art stadium, but that team will also have the second biggest media market all to themselves. Add to the fact that NFL clearly wants this to happen, and just waiting for all the red tapes to be cut before they start the process. I don't think they have overcome all the obstacles yet, but I'm definitely very optimistic that it will happen eventually. If this had happen when NFL were creating an expansion team, then LA and not Houston would have gotten that new team.
agreed

Not a NFL stadium per se but...

Gillette Stadium is a fine name.

Minute Maid Park? Not so much.

I don't see the difference.

So something that shaves women's underarms > then freshly squeezed orange juice?

I like it when teams actually name their stadiums after their teams. Yankees, Giants Stadium.

Seconded.

Some places have corporate names, but don't really sound like it...Raymond James Stadium, Philips Arena..those are the only two I can think of. lol

Majestic has targeted seven teams as candidates to move to the Los Angeles area: the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams, San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
The firm has said the teams are in stadiums that are either too small or can’t be updated with luxury box seats or other revenue sources an NFL club needs to thrive.
Schwarzenegger said the stadium would generate more than 18,000 jobs.
Majestic guaranteed parking lot attendants and concession stand workers would be paid middle-class wages, said Maria Elena Durazo, head of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor.
“This is true economic development,” Durazo said. “It’s going to benefit everyone in our community.”
sounds good

Seconded.

Obviously I'm more familiar with NY teams but...Madison Square Garden was named after James Madison, turned into a park became a square and later on to become MSG.

Shea was named after William Shea who helped bring a team back into NY. Then they turned it into Citi Field. :down

Yeah, I agree about the corporate names... though as a Steelers fan, I don't mind "Heinz Field" because of the Heinz Co.'s history in Pittsburgh (and the fact that, when I was a kid, I refused to consume ANY brand of ketchup other than Heinz, lol).

Although it will never be Three Rivers Stadium. I still can't believe they tore that place down. Pittsburgh just doesn't look the same without it. I could understand building the Steelers a new field but they could have let the Pirates keep playing there. It's not like they could be any worse.
